6 Chapter 6 - The Start of the Maiden's Journey

Mi Young followed the guy, who she found out as the owner of the admission building, through the hall until they stopped in front of a huge oak door. It looks like a normal door at first sight but if you look closely, you will see a couple of words carved around it which were written using the Ancient language of Mages.

Mi Young read the passage at the top most of the door and said in a small voice, "Towards heaven? What does that even mean?"

The man immediately spun around to look at her. His eyes were wide as saucers as if he's looking at someone who killed his cat. "Y-You can speak the Old language?"

The young girl almost slaps herself at her carelessness. She forgot that almost all Mages of today have forgotten how to use and understand the Ancient language. She was so used to seeing words in their home written using the lost language that it feels normal for her to speak of it. Mi Young mentally swears to herself to be careful the next time when she sees a writing written in the Old language.

The man was still waiting for her response until Mi Young sighed and nodded. "A l-little."

The girl chose to lie instead because she knows she might get in trouble if someone finds out that she can understand and speak the Ancient language fluently. Everyone in the entire kingdom knows that there is a group of unknown Mages that kills anyone who can speak the Ancient language. Many have already died and still the identities of these rogue Mages and their reason for killing is still not known.

The man was still in awe before he sighs dejectedly and ushered Mi Young inside the oak door. "I used to be friends with someone who can speak the Old language. However, she was killed by Mages who believe that the Old language should be eradicated as well as the people who still speak it. You should be careful, girl."

Mi Young just nodded at the man since she was busy looking at her surroundings. While outside, she thought that the door would lead to another room, but when she was finally inside, she realized that it was just an empty room with nothing inside but white boring walls and a huge mirror facing the door.

The man probably noticed Mi Young's puzzlement because he closed the door before smiling at Mi Young and said, "That's the Destination Mirror."

"Destination Mirror?"

"Uhn." The man nods at Mi Young. He touches the golden frames of the mirror before explaining, "This mirror was used by the Big Four when they were still busy protecting the kingdom. It was said that this mirror was the gift of the first Great Sage to them. The Destination Mirror can make you go to any place you want as long as you think about it. However, you can only go to a place where you have already visited before."

"So it's basically a magical tool?" Mi Young asks. There are items in the entire kingdom that are considered as very rare items and are used by Ancient and high ranking Mages only. These items are called Magical Tools.

The man nodded once more. "Yes. It was said that when an attack happens somewhere in the city, the Big Four will use this mirror in order to get there as soon as possible."

Mi Young just nodded at the man before asking him another question, "So why are you taking me here?"

"Well, you will need this in order to get to the penthouse, which is now your room."

"Why need this? Can't we use a stair?"

The man chuckled at Mi Young, "No. The penthouse is one of the most luxurious places here in the academy. But aside from that, it is also one of the safest rooms as well. Only those who were able to go there can have access to it. So you should be grateful to whoever gave you that Red Stone since this opportunity is very rare. The last person who was able to get a penthouse room was the King himself."

Mi Young couldn't believe what she was hearing. Just because of a single stone she was able to get a very luxurious room that the King once used. Luck just keeps on coming to her ever since she managed to ace that exam. Mi Young also mentally notes to herself to thank the old man when she sees him once more. Without him, she would probably be living in the streets of the academy for god knows when.

"But I have never been there so I won't be able to use this mirror." Mi Young says. "You said you can only teleport to a place you have visited before."

The man seemed to roll his eyes at her. He gives her a what-the-f*ck-did-you-really-passed-the-exam-while-using-that-coo coo-brain-of-yours-look before he sighs and points to himself, "I'm the owner of this building remember? Only I and the 10 Great Mages can have access to this room."

"Ahh!" Was the only thing Mi Young can say as she sheepishly smiled at the man.

The man waves his hand in the air while dismissing their topic, "Nevermind, let's just go there so you can rest for the day. You will be having your first class tomorrow."

Right after saying those words, the man steps in front of the mirror and pushes a small amount of mana into the mirror. Mi Young watches as her reflection in the mirror changes into a reflection of a room. The man steps aside and extends his hands towards the room, "If you want to go out, there's also a huge oak door identical to this one located in your room. It will immediately teleport you outside the dormitory building once you use it. Have a great day, miss."

Knowing what the guy meant, Mi Young pushes her hands into the mirror first and watches as it passes through. She looks at the man and she sees him smiling at her, before he playfully rolls his eyes at her, "Go on. Don't keep me waiting. I still have a lot of guests to welcome."

Mi Young thanked him before she finally pushed her whole body into the mirror. Everything around her warps until she is no longer standing in the small room behind the huge oak door. Now, she was standing in a vast room with large windows all over. She looks behind her and sees an identical door just like the huge oak door at the corridor where they came in. This must be what the guy was talking about.

Mi Young scans her surroundings. The penthouse was indeed very huge. It was even larger than her own house. When you look to your side, you will see a huge kitchen with a black and white theme filled with utensils that are all made with very luxurious materials, Mi Young can tell just by looking at it. A shelf is also filled with different wines. Why do they even have a shelf filled with alcohol? Plus did they forget that a teenager is using the room? Mi Young just shakes her head at the academy's foolishness.

She continues observing her now supposed room and sees that there's another door to her front. She opens the door and realizes it was the bathroom. The bathroom also has a black and white theme where everything around it is made of marble. There's a huge square tub at the center where five people can fit. A shower is also located at the left side of the room. There's also a very huge mirror with a sink at the bottom. A couple of freshly laundered towels were also placed at the side of the sink. A white robe is also hanging near the shower area. Mi Young smiles to herself. She's very excited to take a bath in her new bathroom.

When she goes out, she looks at her side and sees a king sized bed with gingham sheets that feels so soft to the touch. At the side of the bed is a very huge glass window that allows Mi Young to see the whole view of the academy.

She stands in front of the window and touches it with her palm. It feels cold to the touch but Mi Young's whole body is radiating with warmth and excitement upon knowing that she's one step closer towards her true goal.

Mi Young couldn't wait to go to class tomorrow.
