34 Chapter 34 - A Small Hut

Mi Young was ready to feel the pain from the three-eyed wolves attacks.

However, the pain never came. Suddenly, a loud roar echoed all throughout the forest starling Mi Young.

She heard a huge thump coming in front of her which made her open her eyes. When she opened them, the scene in front of her gave her mixed emotions.

Standing in front of her was the young Basilisk Dragon, roaring and eyeing the wolves with the same intensity and ferocity.

Mi Young had her mouth hanging open as she watched the Basilisk Dragon try to scare the wolves away. The four savage beasts backed down for a moment. However, when they realized that the Basilisk Dragon couldn't do anything but roar at them, they started getting closer once more.

Mi Young helped herself up despite the pain in her foot as she trudged and climbed at the back of the Basilisk Dragon.

The savage beast looked startled at first as it moved around, trying to get Mi Young off its back. This wild action caused the wolves to run away a few meters from them, afraid that they might get stomped and crushed by the bigger beast.

"Calm down! Hey! Hey, calm down!" Mi Young announces as she tries to sooth the Basilisk Dragon. However, the beast continued moving its body and roaring loudly at Mi Young who was now halfway through its back.

Mi Young, who had no choice but to continue climbing, ignored the pain in her foot as she pushed herself higher towards the back of the beast where she could sit down properly. She uses the sharp thorns on the back of the Basilisk Dragon so she wouldn't fall with how hard the beast was shaking and moving its body.

When the young girl finally reached its back, she started soothing the beast by gently rubbing its neck. This action seemed to startle and at the same time, make the Basilisk Dragon relax.

"Good girl. That's it, stay calm." Mi Young continues to say in a soothing voice.

However, just as the Basilisk Dragon completely relaxes with Mi Young on its back, a loud shout coming from Se Heon startled it once more.

"Mi Young! Watch out!" Se Heon announces while he rides a form of rock that looks like...

"Is that a slide?" Mi Young whispers to herself as she looks at the rock formation Se Heon is riding towards her.

However, Se Heon didn't have any time to explain it to the girl because he was already sliding towards her at a fast pace.

Just as he was about to snatch Mi Young from the back of the savage beast, the Basilisk Dragon suddenly roared and ran straight ahead, practically stomping on one three-eyed wolf and crashing it to pieces. The other wolves run away as fast as they can as well, afraid that they would also meet their end just like their companion.

Se Heon who was surprised by the sudden movement of the savage beast forgot to look ahead of him which caused him to crash on the wall of rock in front.

"Se Heon!" Mi Young shouts when she sees the boy crashing face to face on the wall. She only saw a glance of the boy who was slowly sitting up while looking at her as the Basilisk Dragon round the corner and towards somewhere in the forest that Mi Young doesn't know.

Mi Young doesn't know how many hours have passed since she and the Basilisk Dragon left the area where Se Heon crashed.

She sighs as she sits down on the back of the beast in boredom.

It was already night time and Mi Young couldn't see anything through the dark. She was also very hungry so she closed her eyes as the loud thumping of the Basilisk Dragon's steps echoed all throughout the silent forest and lulls her to sleep.

When Mi Young woke up, she was still sleeping at the back of the Basilisk Dragon. However, the beast wasn't moving anymore. Instead, it was lying near a swamp with its stomach facing the ground.

Mi Young scans her surroundings and realizes that they were at the swamp where the Basilisk Dragon laid her eggs back in the present.

She hops off the sleeping beast and walks towards the swamp.

Compared to the present version of the swamp, it was cleaner and its surroundings were livelier.

There were tons of flowers surrounding the swamp and it wasn't as muddy as it is in the present. The waters are much clearer and there are lilies all over the swamp too.

When Mi Young looked to her left, the beast's nest was nowhere to be found, replaced by huge trees that bear red flowers. However, what caught Mi Young's attention wasn't really the flowers but the small hut below it.

The black haired girl steps a little closer towards the hut, but the moment she did so, the tail of the young Basilisk Dragon blocked her way.

Mi Young looked at the beast and its face was telling Mi Young not to go there.

"Why not?" Mi Young questions even though she knew the dragon wouldn't understand her. "There could be Mages out there that can help me."

The savage beast blinked at her twice before it slowly moved its tail away from Mi Young. However, that's when Mi Young saw a huge wound that resembles claw marks, running from the end of the beast's tail all the way through its right leg.

"You're hurt." Mi Young says. She touches the area near the wound and the beast flinches. "Oh you poor thing."

The dragon huffs out a breath before it goes back to lying on the ground. Mi Young thought that it was only exhausted from all the walking, but seeing the huge wound on its foot, Mi Young realized that the beast might have lost a lot of blood which is why it's getting weaker.

When Mi Young went closer towards the dragon's tail, she saw how deep the wound was.

"These must have been from the wolves…" Mi Young whispers to herself. However, looking like it understood what Mi Young said, the savage beast shook its head. "No? Then who are these from?"

The dragon weakly roared as it pointed its head towards the small hut below the trees that bear red flowers. "There? How?"

Instead of getting an answer the dragon only laid its head back on the ground, looking weaker than before. Mi Young looked at it with pity. Even if it wasn't Medusa she still would like to thank the beast for saving her from the wolves.

"How do we heal your wounds?" Mi Young whispers to no one in particular. She hasn't learned Hydro magic yet so she doesn't know how to use the healing capabilities that the Hydro element possesses.

However, what she didn't expect was the Basilisk Dragon to hear her small question.

It moved its large head closer to Mi Young's feet and nudged it two times. When Mi Young asked the beast what's wrong it pointed towards the small hut once more.

"What's in there?" Mi young questioned. The beast used its remaining strength to point its head towards the red flowers on top of the trees. An idea came into Mi Young's mind. "The flowers can heal?"

The beast nodded its head one last time before it slumped back to the ground, too weak to move a muscle.

Knowing what to do, Mi Young instructed the beast to stay where it was and wait for her to come back. After that, she starts to walk towards the small hut in order to ask permission from the owner if she could get some of the flowers growing from the trees in their backyard.

When Mi Young was finally outside the door of the small hut, she glanced one last time at the savage beast not too far away from her who had its eyes closed. Mi Young felt scared for a second thinking that the beast had died, however when she saw its belly move a little, a sign that it was still breathing, the young girl let out a sigh of relief.

Now that the beast is relaxing, Mi Young opens the door of the small hut.

However, the moment she entered the hut, she immediately felt something was wrong.

There was nobody inside but the fireplace was lit and there was a book laying open on the single couch placed near the fireplace.

Mi Young also noticed that the windows were open, as if someone wanted to breathe in some fresh air and let some breeze inside. She walked towards the small living room to check what was written on the book. However, when she got a hold of it, she realized it wasn't a book but a journal.

The black haired girl also noticed that the words written on the journal were written in the Ancient language of the Mages.

"It looked like someone is here…but where is everybody?" Mi Young whispers as she scans through the pages. Not wanting to invade the owner's privacy anymore, Mi Young put down the journal and decided to walk further into the house to investigate.

She was about to reach the kitchen area when a scream coming from the other room startled her.

Mi Young instantly ran towards the direction of the sound and when she opened the door, what greeted her was a very blood boiling scene.
