33 Chapter 33 - Young Basilisk Dragon

Mi Young and Se Heon were tasked to hunt for the food while Hanabi was left at their camp to prepare for their cooking setup.

While the two students venture out in the woods to find food for the three of them, Se Heon starts talking.

"I'm sorry." The boy says out of nowhere.

Mi Young looks surprised for a minute when she hears what the other person says, but then she relaxes when his words register in her mind, "It's okay. I'm sorry as well."

"Did my memories and thoughts make you attack me?"

"Sort of." Mi Young said with a shrug. "All I could think about was the resentment you felt towards your family, especially to your parents. It was so foreign to me that I lashed it out on you. I'm sorry again."

"No need to say sorry. It's my fault." Se Heon whispers.

"It's not your fault that you felt something like that." Mi Young says after a moment of silence. "Sometimes, we tend to associate loneliness with hatred. Because we feel too lonely, we start thinking that the world hates us even if it does not. You just have to find something that can take that loneliness away."

Se Heon never replied to her but somehow Mi Young knew that the boy understood what she meant.

"By the way," Mi Young starts to say but she was cut off when Se Heon moved his finger towards his lips, signaling to Mi Young to keep quiet.

The black haired girl nodded her head as she slowly crouched down to hide behind the huge bush near the lake. Se Heon followed her as well.

They can hear the wild boar drinking water at the lake in front of them just beyond the bushes where they were hiding.

"I'll round the corner and block his way while you get closer to it while its attention is on me." Se Heon instructs in a whisper. Mi Young did an okay sign before Se Heon slowly crept towards the other direction where the wild boar would probably go after drinking.

Mi Young crawled towards the other end of the lake so she could hide behind the wild boar and it wouldn't notice her presence.

However, just as soon as she was able to reach the perfect hiding spot, a loud roar startled her as well as every animal around them including the wild boar.

Because of it, the wild boar was able to escape away from them.

"There goes our dinner." Mi Young whispered dejectedly as she slumped down to the ground.

Se Heon jogged towards where was sitting. "Are you okay?"

Mi Young nodded her head. "What was that sound?"

"I don't know but it looked like it came from that huge rock over there." Se Heon says to the curious Mi Young.

The girl looked back at him as she sent him a knowing smile. Se Heon glares at her, "No. We're not going."

"Oh come on. Please?" Mi Young pushes.

"No."

"Yes."

"Mi Young, no."

"Mi Young, yes."

Se Heon sighs. "It's too dangerous. We don't even know if it's just one beast or more. Plus, we aren't from this time, we have to stay low and keep our profiles hidden or else we might get caught. Do you know that if we manage to make something big, we might mess up the future which is our current timeline! Who knows what could happen if we keep on messing up. That's why we need to stick together and make a plan that wouldn't affect anything on this timeline. You get it?"

When Se Heon turned around to hear Mi Young's answer, the girl wasn't there anymore.

Se Heon frantically looked everywhere for Mi Young, but when he saw her she was already climbing the huge rock where the sound of the beast came from.

"This girl…" Se Heon whispers.

He looks back at the place where they left Hanabi before he scratches his head in frustration while running towards the huge rock where Mi Young is currently climbing.

"I swear to god, this girl is a huge pain in the ass." Se Heon whispers to himself as he starts executing a battle technique. Seconds later, part of the huge rock transformed into something that looks like rocky stairs. Se Heon starts climbing using his self made stairs. When he reached where Mi Young is currently at he extended his hands for her to grip, "Come on. It's faster this way."

Mi Young grabs his hands as she climbs using the stairs as well.

She dusted off her skirt before saying, "Why didn't you do it earlier? It could save me a lot of time and effort."

"Well who was the one who left me there talking alone in the first place?" Se Heon interjects while eyeing Mi Young with a playful glare. Mi Young just sticks her tongue at him.

When they both reached the peak of the rock, they immediately crawled down in order to not let the beast see them. They peek at the bottom of the rock and what they saw immediately stopped Mi Young.

There were four three-eyed wolves surrounding a much bigger beast. But because the bigger beast is young and seems like a child, it didn't know what to do.

However, the situation wasn't the reason why Mi Young was shocked, but because she knew who that surrounded beast was.

"That's Medusa!"

"Your beast?"

Mi Young nodded, knowing that Se Heon must have known because he too shared Mi Young's memory and knowledge.

"He looks young…"

"Medusa is a SHE." Mi Young corrects.

Se Heon rolled his eyes at her. He points at the beasts and starts climbing down using the stairs he made once more, "Whatever. Let's go."

"What do you mean let's go?"

"Let's go like let's go down already." Se Heon says while pointing at the other side of the forest where they came from.

"You go. I'll stay and try to help out Medusa." Mi Young says. She turns away from Se Heon as she continues analyzing the situation.

Se Heon gawks at her. He marched towards Mi Young and said, "What can you do with four three-eyed wolves when we couldn't even escape one? Plus, that savage beast of yours is the teenage version of that beast back in the present! It will probably attack you just as it would attack other things that move!"

Not realizing he was already shouting at the top of his lungs, Se Heon only stops grilling the wide-eyed Mi Young when he notices that the growling from the four beasts stopped.

Se Heon sighs while maintaining eye contact with Mi Young, "I caught their attention, didn't I?"

Mi Young glances at the wolves who are now baring their fangs towards the two Mages on top of the rock. "Uhn."

"Should we make a run for it?"

"Uhn."

"In the count of three—"

But before Se Heon could even finish his sentence, the rock where Mi Young was crouching suddenly cracked.

Se Heon, who was also surprised, didn't manage to register the happening before his eyes and he was too late to create a rock formation that could save the black haired girl – which resulted to Mi Young falling directly over where the four savage wolves were.

"Mi Young!" Se Heon shouts while glancing down at Mi Young who was sitting on the ground below.

The black haired girl held up her hands and did an 'okay' sign to tell the boy that she was alright. "I'm fine!"

"Sh*t." Se Heon whispers to himself while he executes a battle technique in order to make a bridge down where Mi Young is.

Mi Young can feel the searing pain in her left ankle caused by her sudden falling.

She groaned as she tried to stand up but failed because the pain in her ankles intensified the moment she got up.

However, Mi Young couldn't focus on the pain anymore for her attention is on the fact that she's surrounded by a couple of ferocious and hungry looking savage beasts.

She glances up and sees the huge and sharp fangs of the three-eyed wolves as they start getting closer towards her. Mi Young knows that if she makes any movement, the wolves will definitely leap and tear her apart without any second thoughts.

Mi Young let out a shaky breath as she tried to slowly pull her ankles and push her body away from where the wolves were. However, just as she was about to move her body once more, a strong gust of air coming from behind her stops her.

That's when Mi Young remembered that there was also a far bigger beast at her back.

The black-haired girl glances at the Basilisk Dragon and sees that it was eyeing her curiously. Although it still looked scared, the sudden appearance of the girl made it relax for a little.

"Hey, it's me." Mi Young whispers, gentleness evident in her voice. The Basilisk Dragon cocks its huge head to the side, getting curious. "I know you don't remember me but can you help me get on your back? I promise I'll help you escape these wolves."

Although it couldn't understand a single word she was saying, the Basilisk Dragon moved its head closer towards Mi Young.

The wolves started growling even more. Mi Young glances at them again.

She can see the poisonous saliva coming out from their mouths as they bared their fangs at Mi Young, their eyes looking deadlier and even more dangerous than before.

One of the wolves bent its legs, a sign that it was getting ready to attack.

Mi Young closes her eyes and prays to whoever is listening to her to come and save her.

The black haired girl inhaled a huge amount of air as she waited for the attack to come.

She hears a loud growl coming from the three-eyed wolf as it jumps to attack her.
