31 Chapter 31 - A Strange Encounter

"Holy sh*t."

"Now what?"

The beast roared once more as it slowly approached the cage where they were staying.

"Ji Sung's cage is sturdy, right?" Mi Young whispers towards Se Heon as their eyes are both glued towards the ferocious looking beast.

"I don't know. I never tried breaking it." Se Heon answers. He gulps a huge lump of his saliva while looking at the beast who was now standing in front of the cage.

The beast suddenly bumped its head towards the cage causing the two students to jump in surprise. The cage shook but it remained sturdy. Mi Young and Se Heon both let out a sigh of relief when they realized that the cage Ji Sung made was strong enough to keep it away from them.

However, their little victory didn't last long when they saw the wolf changed its tactic.

Instead of bumping its head against the cage like it did a while back, the wolf started licking the grills of the cage.

"What is it doing?" Se Heon asks while eyeing the wolf weirdly.

When Mi Young realized what the beast was trying to do, she started panicking. "Sh*t. It's melting the cage."

"What?! How come can it melt the earth?"

"I don't know! Maybe because Ji Sung isn't here, that's why his earth cage is becoming weak. The absence of the link towards its maker is making his earth cage weaker." Mi Young announces as she tries to find a way out of the cage.

Se Heon realizes how serious the problem is as he starts looking for his way out as well.

They spent a few minutes trying to look for different ways that they forgot the three-eyed wolf.

When the both of them glanced back at the wolf, the grills were already thin.

"Can't you make a fist like Ji Sung did and wreck that side of the cage?"

"I can but my mana is still low due to the fight with you earlier." Se Heon replies.

"Why? Do you have a low mana core?"

"No. But as a dual cultivator, I am an Irregular!"

"Irregular?"

"It means I can't balance my mana consumption well." Se Heon explains despite the panic in his voice as he eyes the grills that are now slowly disappearing. "Every time I use my Pyro element, it will consume a huge sum of my mana, leaving me empty always after a fight."

Upon hearing Se Heon's explanation, Mi Young was starting to lose hope. She had never encountered a poisonous beast before except for that savage beast back in the forest.

When she realized something, Mi Young tried to clear her voice.

"What?"

"Just shut up." She tells Se Heon. Mi Young prepares herself before she shouts in a loud voice.

Roooar!

The beast halted. It stopped licking at the grills of the earth.

Se Heon and Mi Young stayed still while looking at the beast.

When they thought that they had finally managed to stop the beast, it started barking at them loudly.

"It seems angrier!" Se Heon shouts. "Why did you use the language of the beast at him!?"

"I don't know! I thought it was going to work like the savage beast before!"

"Well it's not an ancient one like that Basilisk Dragon back in the forest!" Se Heon says as they start backing away from the front of the cage where the wolf is starting to bump again. Unlike before, the grills of the earth cage started cracking.

"How did you know about that?"

Se Heon rolled his eyes at her as he points at his head. Mi Young understood what he said and nodded her head. It wasn't a time for bickering so they ignored the things they needed to discuss and focused on the matter in front of them first.

"It looks so mad."

Just then, the beast finally wrecked the front of the cage. When it realized that it's free to go inside, it stopped and howled at Mi Young and Se Heon.

"F*ck." Se Heon whispers as the beast slowly crept towards them.

There was a string of poisonous saliva that dripped from its mouth before it opened its mouth as it bent its legs, ready to leap towards the two students in front of it.

"In the count of three, you dive to the left while I dive to my right." Se Heon says.

"No need to instruct me." Was all Mi Young said before Se Heon shouts 'three!' and the beast instantly jumped towards where they were standing.

However, since they were ready for its attack, they were able to dodge it.

"Quick! Use the crack it made!" Both Mi Young and Se Heon run towards the huge hole the beast made in order to escape from the beast.

They jumped to avoid the pool of poisonous saliva on the floor as they started running towards the door of the house.

The beast was immediately on its feet as it started running after them as well.

Mi Young and Se Heon didn't even check to look at the beast as they started running for their lives. When they reached the door, Se Heon quickly kicked it out of the way.

However, when they reached the outside of the house the sight in front of them instantly made them halt.

"What the hell is happening here?" Se Heon whispers as they eye the group of savage beasts surrounding them.

Mi Young silently agreed to what the other was saying as she looked at the hundreds of savage beasts fighting and killing each other.

They hear a familiar roar coming from behind them and they look to see the three-eyed wolf eyeing them with rage.

"Sh*t I forgot about this one." Se Heon says.

Mi Young looked around to find something that could help them escape and saw the huge forest on the left side of the house. She pointed towards it as she grips Se Heon's hand and dragged him towards the area where the tall trees are located, "Let's go."

"Where the hell are we going?"

"Just trust me." Mi Young says. Her voice was laced with graveness that all Se Heon could do was follow her.

They were nearing the forest when a beastly voice echoed all throughout the area. Mi Young and Se Heon turned their head towards where the loud noise came from and saw a huge dragon eyeing them with interest.

"First a wolf, now a dragon?" Se Heon asks.

They see the blue-eyed wolf running towards them but the dragon smashes it into pieces using its gigantic tail. "Holy sh*t."

When the other pest was taken care of, the dragon then returned its attention towards its new prey.

"I don't like its look."

"Me neither."

When the dragon started approaching them, the two students went back to running towards the huge forest.

They run and run, not looking back, afraid that the dragon would be already behind them if they try to stop and check its progress.

Mi Young didn't know how many hours had passed but she could already feel her legs aching because of the nonstop running as they continued going further and further inside the huge forest filled with gigantic trees.

She was already slowing down. Noticing the sudden change of pace of the other party, Se Heon looks back and sees Mi Young struggling on her feet. He slows down as he checks behind them.

When he sees that the dragon was far behind them, Se Heon quickly stops Mi Young.

"Quick! Take off your cape."

"No! I won't!" Se Heon was about to shout at her to stop being hard headed when Mi Young continued her sentence, "I'll take off my shirt instead."

Se Heon nodded while he checked where the dragon was already.

Mi Young took off her shirt, leaving her with her inner clothes only. She took away her boots as well as she handed them to Se Heon who was also taking off his sweatshirt and shoes.

The girl watches as Se Heon throws away their clothes on the ground as the boy grips her arm while they went off towards the opposite direction where he threw their clothes.

"It's to drive off our scent. I think it's following us because we still have traces of the three-eyed wolf on us." Se Heon explains as he continues dragging Mi Young along with him.

Mi Young remained silent behind him as she tried to follow the boy.

"Let's stop here." Se Heon announces. He looks back to check the dragon and lets out a sigh of relief when he sees that it was no longer following them. "I think it went the other way."

Mi Young nodded her head as she slumped at the tree log in front of them. "Thanks by the way."

Se Heon cocks his head to the side, amused with the sudden softness in the girl's voice. "No problem."

They remained silent after that, trying to process everything that happened the moment they woke up from their nap.

"Where is everybody?" Mi Young whispers as she tries to find an answer to her question.

"I don't know. I don't even know why there are beasts outside our dorm." Se Heon says while gripping his hair in frustration. "What the f*ck is happening?"

Just then, another voice suddenly appears behind them, making them jump from where they were sitting.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

Mi Young and Se Heon look back and see a beautiful maiden staring back at them with wide eyes.
