27 Chapter 27 - Learning the Language of the Sage Part 1

After the unfortunate events that happened between the duel of Ji Chang Bin and Lee Dong Soo, everyone only stopped looking for the missing culprit when the Ten Great Mages announced that they had him captive.

Ji Chang Bin was also brought into question to testify against Lee Dong Soo's crime, as well as make sure that he wasn't affected by the dark magic at all.

The parents of Ji Chang Bin were called to school and they couldn't stop thanking Mi Young for saving their son. Jeon Yu Na also offered Mi Young money as gratitude for saving her lover but the blue eyed girl refused to accept them, saying that saving someone is not something you should get paid for, which made the Lady admire her even more.

Everyone at school started talking about the disastrous duel and how Mi Young manages to save Chang Bin by calling out her second element. Some students who already knew her face and had seen her in action started casually talking to Mi Young to be friends with her. While there are still some other students who claimed that Mi Young just got lucky, to which the girl ignored.

Mi Young also had a talk with Lady Ning Gwang about how she got inside the battle arena during the duel. Turns out, it was the librarian's doing why she was able to materialize next to Chang Bin. Without Lady Ning Gwang's help, Mi Young wouldn't be able to save Chang Bin at all.

Of course Mi Young told Chang Bin about this, and the latter as well as Jeon Yu Na, immediately went to Lady Ning Gwang to thank her personally. This made the librarian shocked. She was expecting Mi Young to hog the entire spotlight but she thought wrong. This small act instantly made the librarian proud that she chose a selfless person like Mi Young as her student.

The people who wanted to know about what happened during the duel started spreading news about it, only to find no evidence to support their claims since they did not manage to fish out anything from the people who were there because of the Great Sage's spell. Only Mi Young was able to remember everything that happened.

After all the process of clearing out Ji Chang Bin's name as well as testifying against Lee Dong Soo, Mi Young was finally able to relax in her penthouse.

Mi Young can feel the exhaustion washing over her as she recalls the happenings from the moment of the battle down to the Great Sage's appearance.

Remembering what the Great Sage told her, Mi Young quickly got up from her bed and went to get the red book she had hidden in her closet.

She opens the book, which was actually a diary of the first Great Sage to be exact, and meticulously opens flipped through its pages. Just like before, she still never understands a single letter out of the language of the Sage.

After hours of trying to decode the Sage's language, Mi Young finally gives up.

She lay limp on her bed as she tries to relax her messy head. Mi Young glanced at the huge ceiling to floor window on her right side and realized that the sun was about to rise, which means she has never gotten an ounce of sleep.

Mi Young sighs while massaging her temples. She didn't notice that she had already spent all night trying to gather information about the lost language and now she's not only suffering from the lack of sleep, but she's starting to feel the start of a headache.

The blue eyed girl sighs once more as she throws the diary at her side, she was about to get up and wash up and get rid of her still filthy clothes when a piece of paper flew out from the diary.

Thinking that she had destroyed the notebook, Mi Young quickly went to retrieve it and tried to find the page where the piece of paper was from. But she realized that there were no ripped pages aside from the originally torn page where the parchment of paper the current Great Sage has given her came from.

Mi Young shifted her gaze from the diary towards the piece of paper in her hands. Her mouth twitches and forms into a triumphant smile upon seeing that the contents of the paper is written using the Ancient language of the Mages - a language she has mastered since young.

She reads the words on the paper out loud,

"Go to the walls where all knowledge is found.

Follow the waters and you shall be drowned.

The life of the people shall be at your hands.

And while gasping for air you will finally understand."

Mi Young cocks her head to the side, her eyebrows furrowing hard, she tries to understand what was written on the paper. Somehow, after reading the contents of the paper, she seemed vitalized.

She looked at the date today and realized it was a weekend – which means there is no class to attend and she can spend her time researching about the new clue she has managed to find.

The black haired girl rushed towards her own bathroom to freshen herself up before she immediately headed towards the school's library.

While she was on her way there, she came across Shang Min who tagged along with her.

Both the girls went inside the library and were met with the complete silence of the building.

When they reached the center part of the library, Mi Young expected Lady Ning Gwang to be there but the librarian was nowhere to be found.

"I heard she's gone half of the day during the weekends." Shang Min explains when she noticed Mi Young searching for the librarian.

"Why?"

"No one knows. Maybe she has other things to do." The other girl replied before she went to sit on the nearest table and chair. She fished out a book from her bag and started reading it, leaving Mi Young alone and standing on the librarian's counter.

Mi Young sighs as she scans the library. She wanted to ask Lady Ning Gwang about the paper but she wasn't there. However, upon realizing that there's nothing left to do, Mi Young decided to ask the only person who she knew has a lot of insights and knowledge about the school.

Shang Min stops reading her book when she notices Mi Young lingering beside her. She throws the blue eyed girl a confused look to which the latter replied with a knowing smile. "What?"

Mi Young smiled again, "Help me."

"About what?"

"You must promise me first that you won't tell anyone about this."

Mi Young sees Shang Min gulping her own saliva before she nods at Mi Young and crosses her hands across her heart, "I promise."

"Good." Mi Young says. "Do you know anyone here that can speak the Old language?"

Upon hearing what Mi Young uttered, Shang Min's eyes went wide, she drew her face closer towards Mi Young and whispered, "Why do you need someone who can speak the Old language? You know we can get killed just by associating with them!"

"So you knew someone then."

"I…yeah."

"Take me to that person." Mi Young instructs.

Shang Min looks reluctant at first, "That person is quite shy and he has anger management issues."

"I don't care, just take me to him."

"You don't understand. Even I, had a hard time being friends and trying to coax him to speak to me."

"I'll deal with him, don't worry." Mi Young says. She sounded so determined and sure that Shang Min couldn't say no to her. The blonde girl finally sighs before she puts away the book she was reading as she and Mi Young both stood up.

"Fine. But don't tell me I didn't warn you."

"I promise." Mi Young says.

The two girls exited the library and went towards the place where Shang Min's friend was staying.

While following Shang Min, the blonde girl started asking her questions about her dual elements.

"How did you manage to call out your second element?" Shang Min asks as they walk along a path filled with daisies.

Mi Young shrugs at the other girl, "I don't know. I just called out my mana and thought about saving my friend."

"That was really cool, by the way."

"You were there?" Mi Young asked, looking shocked.

Shang Min nodded her head, "Yes! I was watching the battle as well."

"You don't look like someone who enjoys duels."

Shang Min stuck out her tongue at Mi Young's comment. "I may be a softie but I love watching duels."

Mi Young just offered her an amused smile before they were engulfed in a comfortable silence once more.

After a couple of minutes of walking, Shang Min and Mi Young finally stopped in front of a huge house that was covered with different types of flowers.

The house is made of bricks but you can't see much of it anymore since thousands of vines were starting to cover it.

"Where are we?"

"This is Dorm A of the Geo faction."

"Dorm A?"

"Yes. Students who are ranked A based on their grades reside here." Shang Min replies. She knocked at the iron gate and the vines and roots that were around it started untangling against the metal.

"Cool." Mi Young whispers.

"Right? There are cooler things inside their dorm. Just wait and see." Shang Min says excitedly.

However, just as Mi Young was about to enter the area as well, a solid rock wall emerged in front of her, blocking her path and entirely separating her from Shang Min.

"Mi Young!" The blue eyed girl can hear Shang Min's call from the other side of the wall. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. How about you?"

"I'm good as well. What happened?" Shang Min asks.

"I don't know—"

"Pyro users are not allowed here!" Mi Young looks up from where the voice came from and sees a figure standing on top of the rock wall.

"Who are you?"

"Come fight me and you'll know!" The voice says.

A stomp of his foot and the ground where Mi Young was standing suddenly opened, swallowing Mi Young as well as her shouts as she plummets to the ground beneath.
