10 Chapter 10 - Bet With Me Instead

"Is she crazy? Her cultivation will go berserk."

"Not to mention that no one has ever controlled four elements before. Even the Great Sage can only control two elements at once."

"I was right. This girl is indeed stupid."

Students along with the other teachers couldn't stop thinking about how arrogant the young girl is. This is the second time she has betted with a principal. Aside from that, no Mage has ever controlled four elements at once. Those who even tried cultivating two elements at once while they were still students caused their mana and cultivation to go berserk.

"A-And if you lose?" The principal asks, bewildered.

"I'll quit school."

Everyone in the crowd looked at the girl in astonishment. Citizens of the Mage kingdom know how important and lucky one is to be able to be admitted in Mistwood Academy, but this young girl seems to think so lowly of it; she even had the audacity to use it for a stupid bet.

The principal blinked at the young girl. She knew how talented this child is and she never wanted to bet against her. Even though she knew that her notion was unbelievable and unachievable, she still doesn't want to lose such talent in their school. Plus, she doesn't want to embarrass herself just like how ex-principal Choi did, even if she knew that there's no way Mi Young would win the bet. So she sighs before shaking her head, "I won't accept the bet."

The students around the stage looked even more shocked upon hearing the principal's answer. They are all thinking of the same thing, 'Does the principal think the young girl can do it? Why is she scared to bet against her?'

However, their questions were answered when the principal spoke once more, "You will ultimately lose on this one since it is entirely impossible for one to control all elements. Losing a talented student like you is a big loss for our academy so I will have to say no to your suggestion."

"That's our principal."

"Serves her right. She's so arrogant. Tsk."

"Finally! Someone put her in place."

"That's sad. I would really like to try and control all the elements." Mi Young comments, a sad expression forming on her face.

Just then, while everyone was starting to look at Mi Young pitifully, a loud voice boomed all over the place.

"How about you make a bet with me instead?"

Everyone turned around to look at the source of the male voice. Most of the new freshmen students do not recognize the arriving man but old students know who he is. Aside from the fact that he is the top 1 junior student from the Pyro faction, Lee Kwang Soo is also known for being a huge bully to anyone who stands in his way. He's known for being an arrogant person who likes to display his ability. In fact, the school has already received many complaints against him but they can't do anything but suspend him each time because they could not afford to lose someone like him; Lee Kwang Soo may be arrogant but he has the talent and prowess to be a strong Mage. Many teachers believe that he can reach greater heights once he graduates – which is why they like to turn a blind eye every time he breaks someone's bone or makes someone cry.

"And you are?" Mi Young asks. She's deeply aware that the person standing in front of her is a lot stronger than her. But she remained calm and composed despite having her heart beating like crazy!

Kwang Soo sneered at Mi Young upon hearing her nonchalant voice, "So it's true. You're indeed a shameless and arrogant person."

Many people who heard what Kwang Soo said thought, 'Kwang Soo, you also have the same attitude like hers. Actually, you two are not far from each other.'

But they all kept those thoughts to themselves, afraid that they might anger Kwang Soo if he ever heard them say it. For now, they remained silent while giving Mi Young worried and pitiful glances. This will be the end of her.

"I don't care what other people say. They can talk behind my back for as long as they want." Mi Young starts. She gives Kwang Soo a dignified look before answering, "I'm here to study and cultivate my mana so I can be a great Mage. I'm not here for any drama."

This little speech of hers awed some of the students; even Park Min Ji who doesn't give a f*ck about anyone other than Shi Yun mentally acknowledged the girl's determination. For her, Mi Young is indeed worthy of attending the school even if she didn't get a perfect score during the entrance exam.

Kwang Soo let out a huge laugh. It was partially genuine but you can still hear the mocking tone that comes with it. "You've got guts, little girl."

Mi Young watches as Kwang Soo leans in closer to her. In fact, it was like he was crouching down so they can both meet eye to eye because Mi Young is a lot smaller than he is, "I'm really excited about the bet we'll be having."

The young girl shivers at the look Kwang Soo was giving her. Not to mention that his physical appearance makes him even more intimidating. He has jet black hair, mean eyes, a tall and slim figure, and he looks like the most arrogant person there is. Mi Young knows you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but boy do this Kwang Soo makes Mi Young think otherwise.

"Done checking me out?" Kwang Soo asks smugly. Okay fine he looks good but his actions and arrogance makes Mi Young's blood boil.

"You wish."

Upon hearing Mi Young's answer, all of the students around them started feeling nauseous. They never knew if Mi Young is just brave or if she's totally crazy; most of them think that it's the latter.

However, Kwang Soo had a different reaction. He let out another loud laugh, but this time, it's really a genuine one.

"You're really interesting." Kwang Soo says. He gave Mi Young a once over before he continued, "So how about our bet?"

"I'm starting to think about it."

"Oh please, don't you dare back-out. I love bets." Kwang Soo says. "But I love making my enemies cry more."

"Who told you that I'm going to cry?" Mi Young does not back down from any challenges. For her, the real challenge lies beyond the walls of the academy. Straightening her back, she answers the taller man, "What do you want to stake then?"

Hearing Mi Young's question, Kwang Soo let out a huge boyish smile. "That's more like it!"

"Are they really betting against each other?"

"Why is this first year really arrogant? She's always looking for trouble."

"I can't believe she agreed to bet against Kwang Soo of all people."

Kwang Soo looks like he's finding the right words to say. And every minute that passes by is an agony for Mi Young. She's really digging her own grave.

When Kwang Soo finally answers, what he said did not only shock Mi Young but everyone else as well.

"If you win, I'll do everything I can to ask the school heads to make you join all the factions." He pauses for a minute before giving Mi Young a sinister look, "And if I win, I will have to ask you to kill yourself."
