12 Chapter 12: Heavy

"Aw, that's mean, Inara Araceli."

I slowly turned my body to see who the hell is inside my room.

What the hell am I even doing? I should be screaming right now. But that familiar voice stop me to do so.

And there he was.

The person that I was cursing just a while ago.

My heart starts to beat too fast. I can't find any words to say.

"H-How..." my voice is literally shaking right now. "H-How did you get here?"

Slowly, he walks towards me, he's still wearing the same clothes he wore earlier. Both hands are place on his back. I can't properly see it.

"I climbed on the tree near your terrace," Kale said then smirked.

My brows automatically furrowed. "Why are you even here? You're trespassing, dude!" my voice raise a bit. I pursed my lips when I realize that someone outside might hear me.

"I'm just passing by," he calmly said.

Then, he gave me a paper bag that he is holding. Maybe that's what he is hiding from his back earlier.

"Here."

"What's that?"

"Poison."

I looked at him sharply.

"Just open it."

I reached for it, then open the paper bag. Ice cream!

My lips might tear apart with the smile I got right now. Eventually, it faded when I remember that Kale is just standing few inches way from me.

It's from my favorite ice cream store. Dainty's Ice Cream.

"It's my favorite," I whispered to my self, afraid that the guy might hear it.

I open the container, cookies and cream is the flavor. My second favorite flavor of ice cream. Rocky Road is my favorite among all the flavors.

Wait. How did he know about that place, anyway?

Like any other occasion, he read my mind again, "I was about to buy some for my sister. Then, I concluded that you might like it," he shrugged then pouted.

"T-Thanks," I shyly said.

My eyes turn to him again when I realized something.

"How did you know that I lived here? And why are you sure that this is my room?" I asked.

"I have my ways," Kale winked.

I rolled my ways. What a lousy thing to say.

"Why didn't you enter the front door? We've got the doorbell you know. Why did you climb the tree? What if you fell?" I blurted out.

"I've good at climbing. No need to worry, Inara," he explained then smile cockily.

Seriously? That's the only thing he remembered in all that questions?

"And..." I got back from my trance. "I don't want your family to get the wrong idea," he laughed.

The hollow feeling I felt this afternoon is back. Something is stirring my stomach, I wanna vomit. My heart, there's a sharp object poking it. I hate this feeling.

"The moment they think that we aren't just friends, you'll probably think about it countless night ," he said with sincerity. I looked at him softly. "Surely, you'll overthink about it. I don't like the idea of it."

I quietly stared at me after hearing those words. How does he do that? After saying words that makes me feel weird, he'll then say something that makes me feel at ease. How can he make my heart race? Is he aware of what he's doing to me?

We barely know each other. But, why does it feel like we've known each other for a long time now?

"So..." he took one step forward, attempting to go near me.

Before he could take another step, I stopped him, "Stay there. Don't move. Don't go near me," my grip on the ice cream container tightened so does my chest—feeling nervous.

"What? My feet and legs is getting numb," he whines like a child. "I even waited so long in the line earlier at the ice cream shop," he whispered.

What? Why does it feel like he's putting the blame on me for standing too long in line? I didn't even tell him to buy me ice cream. What a weird guy. But I shouldn't be mean, he can sit, after all he did buy me this dessert.

"Then, sit there..." his brows furrowed. "There... On the floor."

He sighed—defeated. Kale unwillingly let himself to sit on the floor.

He winced when his plump butt hit the floor. There. Getting hurt for your own stupidity.

I smirked afterwards and pick up the spoon inside the bag. Then, I started devouring the ice cream from that guy pouting while whispering some things.

I noticed his gaze sometimes directed to me with those laser eyes. Pretending to be innocent, I looked back at him.

"You want?" I asked while extending my arms as if I'm giving him the container.

His facial expression automatically change and then, he bobs his head up and down for quite a long time. You look like a little puppy, dude.

"You should have bought one for yourself," I teasingly said then scoop from the container again.

I ate the ice cream slowly, enticing him, letting him drool with these delicious dessert. I licked the spoon in a slow motion. An audible sound escaped my mouth, the sound of enjoying the food.

"Hmmmm..." I closed my eyes to make the act more believable.

His lips pouted more, his eyes shooting daggers, then averted his gaze. My trick seems effective. Ha!

I did it countless time. I even go near him to offer him the container again.

A shriek escape my mouth when he suddenly pulled my arms causing me to fall with him. I'm on top of Kale and the ice cream spilled on the floor the other portion of it is on the side of my hand holding the container.

So sticky.

As well as his stares. He is staring right into my eyes.

That very moment, I got a glimpse of his features again. It feels like it's the first time meeting him. Those brown eyes, his thick brows, long lashes, pointed nose and his lips...

My stupid heart start to race again. Lord, throw my heart now, I don't need it anymore. It's just tiring me.

"Heavy..." he softly murmured.

I blinked thrice.

"So heavy..." his expression soften, still staring at me.

I snapped with what he said.

"It's heavy, Inara."

I quickly pulled myself away from him.

What did he say? Heavy? Who? Me?

He's probably bullshitt*ng me, right?

"ME? I'm heavy?!" I got embarrassed.

Not that I have something against heavy people. I'm just feeling shy. Curse you, Kale.

He's murmuring something. I can't hear it properly.

"What?! Do you have something to say?!" I blurted out.

"Nothing..." then diverted his eyes on my study table.

He didn't dare to look at me again. He's probably hiding something and right now, Kale is afraid that I might know his secrets once our eyes meet.

Seconds later, my door instantly open. Revealing my sibling with eyes wide open while staring at Kale whose still on the floor.

"What the hell, Inara Araceli?!"

Uh-oh.
