Next Successor

I went down to meet some guest and looked for my mother. I spotted her in the crowd with Dad so I hurriedly go beside them. My father smiles at me lovingly when I approached them.

"My Rara, you're beatiful," Dad said.

"Of course she is. I'm her mother, " Mom said and they chuckled.

"I think it's time to introduce you. Come," dad said and he hold his wine and rang it.

"Ladies and gentleman, may I have your attention please. This day is important for us and I would like to introduce you to the next successor of Shane Corporation," Dad said and I stand at his side. When I was about to talk, I can feel someone eyeing me so I followed where it was comming from and their he is. The man I used to loved.

"Rara, sweetie," father repeated.

"Oh sorry!" I said silently and regained my senses.

"A pleasant evening to all of you. Thank you for coming all the way here to join us in this ceremony. I am Akira Shane, the daughter of Jake and Erina Shane. The only thong I can say is that I will do my best to make Shane Corporation flourished and I need your support. For now, we can enjoy the party," I said and everyone clapped then went on carrying the party.

I hate socializing in parties where some hypocrites would be willing to do anything just for you to favor them. I went to a dark part of the mansion covered with curtains when I spotted Uncle Anton and his daughter coming so I hid behind the curtain first.

"Dad you told me that Akira won't have something to do in the company!" Vangie told her dad while stomping.

"I know and I can't forgive your Uncle for not consulting me in this matter. That bitch doesn't deserve to stand higher than you," Uncle Anton said.

"Then do something! I cannot stand this humiliation and my friends from the top circle are asking me," Vangie said.

"For now, let's not make any hasty movements. You just need to blend in the crowd and looked as if we're enjoying this party. I will do something about this matter so you don't need to worry," Uncle Anton said.

"Do it as soon as possible. I can't even stand seeing her with a smile while I cry inside Dad," Vangie said.

"I know. Now, let's go. People might get us wrong if we stay out of the limelight for too long," Uncle Anton said and they left.

They really are a pair of good daughter and father. The daughter is good in socializing on the top circle and spending money she didn't earn while the fathers greed for power is immeasurable. I already know their true colors before even as a kid but my father is too softhearted and pretended not to know their ways.

I was supposed to go out from my hiding place and go home even before the party ends but I saw him coming and I freeze on my spot.

"Jenna," was the first thing he said and I didn't respond.

"Jenna, I know you're their. Please talk to me," he said again so I came out from my hiding place.

"Hi Mr. Loca. Glad to see you again but I need to tell you some clarifications. My name is Akira Shane and I'm not Jenna Warren, " I said.

"Akira," he muttered to himself.

"I'm sorry Mr. Loca but I need to go," I said and passed by him who is standing still.

I decided to go talk to some guest and asked my mom if I can go home already.

"Mom, I need to go home now," I said.

"Sweetie, can't you just stay here and return tomorrow?" Mom asked.

"Mom, I want to but Noah have early classes tomorrow," I said.

"Oh right! Then what about this gifts?" Mom asked.

" You can just send them at home mom," I said and bid them goodbyes.
