Chapter 11

A few days had passed since the dinner with Abigail, and the more Daniel thought about it, she had a point he had to tell Carter about Angela even if it would end in something quite unpleasant, but he knew if he kept it from him, and he found out on his own then Carter would be even more upset if he knew Daniel knew all about it all along.

Daniel woke up quite early, after working remote for a while both Carter and Daniel had to head back to work, luckily with the help of Lisa the two managed to get a spot at a good day care for Andrea, so they were a little more at peace with leaving her.

Daniel prepared breakfast while thinking about how to tell Carter about Angela, he didn't want to do it before work because he knew it would end up ruining Carter's whole day, but he wasn't sure when would be the best time to do it.

Being focused on cooking and being trapped in his own thoughts, Daniel didn't even notice Carter entering the kitchen with Andrea, nor did he notice the smile on Carter's face.

"Good morning~" Carter sang, snapping Daniel out of his own thoughts, Daniel spun around and instantly smiled when he saw Carter with Andrea.

"Good morning Carter" Daniel greeted back.

"I'm going to put Andy in her rocker and finish getting her diaper bag together," Carter informed Daniel, who nodded with a small smile.

Carter raised his brow a little, he thought Daniel was acting odd again, but he knew it was hopeless to probe at him to tell him what was going on since he had tried multiple times, and it ended with Daniel telling him that he was fine and not to worry.

Carter left the kitchen and placed Andy down in the rocker, he then returned to the kitchen and got all the formulas sorted into the containers, and then placed them in her bag, he checked everything again just to be sure he had everything.

"Formula, Bottle, A notebook for the nursery teacher, blanket, diapers, a few changes of clothes, socks..." he said to himself as if checking off a checklist in his mind.

"Baby powder and bum cream, also wet wipes" Daniel chimed in as he plated their breakfast, Carter let out a small 'Ah' as he quickly ran back to the room and grabbed those things and placed them into the bag.

"And done," Carter said with a proud smile.

"Now let's eat and get ready to go" Daniel said, patting Carter on the back, he took his seat at the table and Carter sat across from him.

"Do you think Andy will be okay at daycare?" Daniel asked worriedly, although Lisa suggested it to them, he still felt restless about it, he worried since she was still really young.

"I am sure she will do great, Lisa left Hunter and Jake with them when they were the same age as Andy, so I trust them" Carter reassured Daniel with a smile.

The two ate their breakfast and talked a bit switching from work to talking about Andrea and once they were done the two quickly cleaned up their plates and placed them in the dishwasher before collecting their things and Andrea's things and took them out to the car, Daniel quickly hurried back and picked up Andrea and took her out to the car as well, and with Carter's help they quickly buckled her in her car seat and then off they went.

They left earlier than planned, but maybe that was just the nerves that were at play with the thought of returning to work knowing well that they wouldn't be with Andrea for the majority of the day, even Carter who wouldn't easily admit it because he had confidence in the people caring for her felt a bit restless about leaving her behind.

Once they arrived at the daycare they quickly headed inside, while driving Andrea fell asleep, so they took her in with her still in the car seat, once they got inside the daycare both couldn't help but smile, it was colorful and instantly felt welcoming and warm inside.

"Welcome to Little Sun Daycare '' A cheerful voice greeted them, Daniel and Carter were met with a young lady who was in her early 20s, she wore a pink shirt and blue jeans along with an apron draped over her which had a bear graphic on it.

"Good morning, we came to apply a few days ago," Carter mentioned, and her smile widened a little.

"Ah yes! The headmistress informed us, you are Mr. Abbot and Mr. Haven, correct?" she said, and the two nodded in unison.

"That would be us, we brought in little Andrea" Daniel said smiling.

"Well welcome to our new baby then, you already did all the paperwork, but we would appreciate it if you would just go over the numbers and emergency contacts before you leave, just to be sure everything is correct" She said as she searched through some files and pulled out Andrea's application, Carter took it and he and Daniel went over everything together to be sure everything was in order.

"Everything looks good," Carter said as he handed it back.

"Great, and then you said you would bring in a note with allergies and all medical information once you have them correct?" She asked the two.

"Yes, I am waiting for a call back on her appointment with the pediatric doctor, once we have all the medical paperwork I will bring it in immediately" Daniel responded and the lady nodded.

"Great then that's everything, you are welcome to call in and ask about her whenever you want, and we will also be taking some photos during her time with us and sending them to you to help with reassuring that she is doing well" She told the two men with a reassuring smile.

After all the talking they eventually handed Andrea over and said their goodbyes to her and then headed out again, once they got in the car they sat in silence for a few seconds.

"It will be okay, right?" Daniel asked and Carter nodded, he wasn't really sure himself, but he trusted them, they were good to his nephews and Lisa went with them to register Andrea, so they know that there is a relation between them, so he hoped it would help with looking after Andrea properly.

When the two arrived at the office, it felt a bit odd, the both of them have been working from home for two weeks already and being back in the office surrounded by other adults and not a crying baby felt a bit weird, but it was a nice change of pace for them.

"It feels weird being here," Carter said as he took a seat at his desk.

"I get what you mean, to think up until recently we spent most of our days and nights in this office and then being away from it for two weeks" Daniel said as he organized the files in his hand.

"So what's on our agenda today, Mr. Haven" Carter asked curiously.

"Well Mr. Abbot, we are booked with meetings the entire morning, since most of them were moved up until we could get back to the office" Daniel said as he handed over the needed files for the meetings.

"Then you have lunch with some of the shareholders" Daniel said, handing over a file with everyone who would be at the lunch.

"And finally we have new product presentations after lunch," Daniel said, handing him the last file.

"Did we usually have this much work?" Carter asked as he held the mountain of files.

"Well actually we usually did more than this since we would work into the early morning hours usually" Daniel told him with a smile.

"Huh... I guess two weeks really make a difference" Carter said with a small smile.

He could never really imagine himself wanting to go home exactly when he was supposed to, he would always work till well past midnight with Daniel but Andrea being in their lives now he wants to go home and cuddle with her instead of working late... he couldn't help but feel that it was a good change.
