3 3. Welp

As I walked into the kitchen after smelling bacon and eggs being made I looked towards my mom humming as she prepared breakfast. I couldn't help but smile watching her cook with orbs of magic floating around her. She says it happens when she is meditating, but who knows.

In my past life, my family was somewhat distant to me. They gave me what I needed to live but never really gave me the freedom I wanted. So after being reborn and having a mother that allowed me to freely live, to a certain degree, of course, makes me happy. Plus after spending 10 years without them you learn to live and forget.

"Morning mom!"

"Morning Gene." Smiling she looked towards me. Seeing the bags under my eyes she didn't seem surprised.

"To excited to sleep last night I see."

"Just a little bit. I was excited for today after all. I will finally be able to use magic." I said that with a shimmer in my eyes.

Laughing at how excited I am she walks over to the table and puts down several plates. "Well, all that comes after breakfast so let us eat."

After she sat down I began to eat so we can hurry up and start. It also helped that my mother is an amazing cook so I had no problem gobbling all of it down. The eggs, bacon, and pancakes were gone in a blink of an eye.

"Calm down Gene. The food isn't going anywhere," she said that after hitting me upside the head.

"Since you are already done, head out to the yard while I prepare some things for your awakening."

Running out the door I made my way to the open space behind the house. Looking around I sat down in the grass and thought about the place we live.

'From what I remember mom told me we live in a massive forest called The Devouring Forest. She says that we live in the inner area of the forest which confuses me since I thought that any forest with an inner and outer area would usually have dangers everywhere right? All I ever see are just regular wildlife.'

When I asked her she said she had laid a barrier around the area we live and hunt to keep beast away but still let regular animals in. Apparently, the beasts outside are dangerous but I don't know how dangerous the forest is compared to other places in the world.

'Sheet, mom could just be OP for all I know. I don't really know how the power levels work here yet. Especially when she won't f*cking tell me!'

After 5 minutes of waiting, I see mom making her way to me while wearing tapered black pants that came down to her calves, black boots, a white long sleeve shirt with the right sleeve rolled up to her elbow and a red magician robe that went down over her breast and stopped just below them. There was a golden crown symbol on the left side of it over her chest. Recently I started to notice that when she walks there's no sound from her footsteps. Honestly, If I didn't notice by now after all the 'training' I have gotten from her for the past 3 years, 'sh*t would be sad.'

"Are you ready Love?"

"Ready as I'll ever be I guess."

After she confirmed that I was good to go she waved her hand and a grey crystal about the size of an adult fist appeared. I stared at the ring on her finger with envy.

Seeing the look I was giving her ring, she gave me a teasing smile.

"I bet you would love one of these huh. Oh just imagine not having to carry all the things you have, Oh wait you don't have anything to carry. Plus I already told you that you aren't able to use a magic ring yet."

"I know but it won't change the fact that I want one. I wouldn't have to carry all the things I hunt back home."

"Forget about that for now. This here is an awakening stone. To use it is pretty simple. All you have to do is just concentrate on it when you hold it and bam you're awakened."

After saying so little she tossed the stone to me. I looked at it with a bit of disappointment. I thought it would be way more of a 'wow' factor.

Tossing that thought aside I closed my eyes and started to concentrate on the stone.

-Ella's POV-

I still can't believe it's already been 10 years. I still remember the joy I felt when I first held him. Seeing his tail for the first time I couldn't help but squeal at how adorable he was. Even now when he scratches head with his tail when he thinks about something makes me giggle. Especially since he isn't even conscious of the fact he is doing it.

"Oops my almost lost myself there."

It looks like Gene is starting the awakening process I have to be more vigilant. Usually on Enormas Continent children would start their awakening at 12 at the church if they were of common birth and had no backing; However, you can do the awakening as early at 10 but someone with the adequate strength needs to supervise.

Well, my son sure is blessed to have such a great mom like myself to watch over him, but I need to pay special attention to him since he seems to be a bit peculiar. Even for that bastard's bloodline, he seems to be stronger and much more 'wild'. Maybe my bloodline had some type of influence on him too.

"Hmm, that's weird."

After ten minutes of watching out for any disturbances, the air suddenly stilled.

*RUMBLE*

Looking up I saw dark storm clouds begin to gather.

*BOOOOM*

Seeing lightning crashing around us I couldn't help but panic somewhat.

"What in the world—"

I suddenly felt all the mana in the area rush towards us. Looking towards Jean I was shocked. Different-sized pieces of stones began to float up around him. The mana around him also seemed to come alive and began to dance around him.

"What is going on. Natural mana is never visible to the naked eye. I'll have to quickly reinforce the barrier before any of the more powerful magic beast notice."

Making a few quick hand gestures I said a short chant before the barrier surrounding our house visibly glowed brighter indicating that it was strengthened.

"Ok, that should be good enough as long as nothing else happens."

Looking back over to Gene I couldn't help but be surprised by what I saw. His hair began to slowly rise up until it was standing up on its own. The muscles on his arm began to expand as veins popped out. A golden aura began to appear around him like a flame coming to life. It grew larger until it became more than twice his size. The wind started to pick and move out with him being the center.

"This is not normal at all. An awakening shouldn't affect the environment let alone cause such a change in appearance."

*CRACK*

*BOOOM*

Before I could register the sound of the awakening stone breaking indicating that the process was over, suddenly I was hit by a pressure that felt like some ancient god beast descended to the mortal plane.

Seeing him open his eyes which had become a bright green and his hair and tail started turning a golden yellow. I couldn't help but step back slightly.

'What is this pressure it feels like I'm facing gramps. And you are telling me ALL of this is coming from Gene!? Urrgh it feels like my bloodline is calling out to welcome a new junior'

"Wow!" Gene began to look around at himself with a face full of amazement.

Still feeling a bit dazed I began to inspect his body with my mana to make sure nothing bad happened during the awakening. 'Hmm his body and organs seem to have gotten a lot tougher and there seems to be mana already coursing through him. *Sigh* Why does my son have to be so weird.'

As I walked over to him, I noticed he was looking at himself in the pond near us.

"Are you done admiring yourself yet?"

"No, give me another minute."

*Smack*

"Agh MOM WHY?!"

"Humph" I swear this boy loves it when I hit him since he keeps irritating me. "So how are you feeling? I scanned your body already and I didn't find anything wrong so you shouldn't feel off."

-Gene's POV-

Hearing what my mom said I started to do some basic stretches.

"Oh man, this feels great!" I can't believe my awakening actually set my S cells off letting me go Super Saiyan. Plus all the energy I can feel coursing through my body and around me is amazing. Feels like I can control it with just a thought.

Bringing up my right hand with my palm facing up, I started to gather the energy I felt around me to my hand. Slowly small white orbs of light started to gather above my palm combining into a solid ball of energy.

'Wait is this a spirit bomb? Looks about the same.'

My mother who was observing from the side had a shocked expression.

"Gene what are you doing? I've never seen any type of magic or element like this before." She said all of this while suddenly appearing next to me to examine the ball. I was able to sense energy, which I could only assume was her mana, probe the spirit bomb.

"Hmmm." Crossing her arms she starting thinking out loud: "It seems to be an extremely pure form of mana, but that shouldn't be possible as far as I know. Whenever a person uses their mana it will take the form of one of their elements. I've never heard of anyone having just pure mana as an element."

After taking a moment to ponder on her thoughts she started to talk again without looking away from the orb of mana: "Gene is this the only type of energy running through your mana source?"

Hearing her I closed my eyes to focus on the mana source located near the middle of the chest.

"Umm, mom I don't actually sense any of this energy from my mana source. I can only sense a green and blue energy. Also, I formed the orb by gathering the energy that is naturally around us."

Hearing what I said, she suddenly looked up into the clear blue sky and put her hand on her forehead.

"It's official I'm raising an Alien."
