5 The Coronation II

" Aren't you the That guy they call, the weakest diluted or something? "

I was quite offended by the fact that he couldn't even get the insulting name right.

" weakest undisputed. That's what your looking for "

His eyes lit up as it struck home before he gave off a light chuckle and said

"Ahhhh that's the one. Bit of a mean name don't ya think ?" he said. Although I was 100% positive that he himself thought it was a fitting name for me.

" I don't mind it " I replied trying to hide my resentment for the name.

" At least people remember me "

He laughed historically. But it was true, I didn't really mind about it. As long as those names that they called my were only about slaying I couldn't exactly disagree with them.

As we continued our path through the dungeon, there wasn't much to kill apart from the opening room where there was a few blood hounds but nothing worth investing more than 30 minutes of our time in. But i still couldn't shake this unsettling feeling that something was watching us. Our every move. Every step we took into the crimson castle felt like we were taking a step into our own graves. Every breath we took in the castle felt like we were breathing in the air of death from the countless things that had been left to die. The path to the end of the dungeon was littered with corpses. It wasn't a new thing for dead bodies of creatures or even monsters to be found on the route to the boss room. But this was different, although yes corpses are often found near boss rooms, the corpses are never fresh.

Never.

Needless to say we were all a bit tense by this fact. So even the healers had their hands placed loosely on their daggers.

The thing that made this even worse was when we got to the boss room. There was nothing. Not a single sign of a boss, or death or maybe even a sign of life.

Nothing was there.

Except a key. Secondary keys are a usual occurrence but they are never found just lying their. Usually you get one after slaying the boss and that then teleports you back to the surface. Usually. This time when the captain picked up the key, a mist had enveloped us. A mage in our group shouted with urgency " a magic square, WE ARE GETTING TELEPORTED DRAW YOUR WEPONS!!"

Everyone fumbled to try and draw their swords and shields. Everyone armed and ready for whatever could happen. In an instant we were in a haze before everything cleared up. We were in this, gargantuan room. Everyone thought the same thing at the same time. This is a death trap.

Huge statues lined the room, probably 12 statues each fifty metres tall. Masked faces as if they were knights, some had spears the size of skyscrapers, some had swords and others had shields ornate with old battles, and images about the knights' past.

We were all terrified because these weren't the statues that terrified us the most. The thing that struck fear through our bones all the way down our spines was the final statue. It was on a throne being held up by corpses . It sat above the rest as we gazed upon the statue it had a crown on it's head. On the crown was an image carved on it of men screaming. The worst part of it all was that when we entered, the statues had a blank face. But after we looked at this "king " figure the statues began to smile.Faces that were once blank, now stared back at us with the bloodlust in their eyes. Someone tried to run for the door. It was a failure to even try and get away. Within a second he vanished. All that was left was the splatter of blood imprinted on the floor. The crimson ornamented sword, once colourless now tainted with the blood of a human. The floor began to light up with streams of red flowing through the floor. All in the blink of an eye, the first had fallen.
