Phew" goes the sound of the starter pistol as the Cincinnati Fair sparks to life with the buzzing cheer of the crowd. The Star-Spangled Banner flies aloft in all four corners of the crowded open arena. In the crowd, Cathy, clothed in denim shorts with a white t-shirt stands to cheer as Nathan, sandwiched by two other swimmers stands over his lane in front of the fifty-meter pool. "What a race we 'ave 'ere folks!" states the jubilant announcer with his voice at its peak.
