57 (57) The Law Defying Talent

Lysine read the lines of text at the bottom of the rock, and then motioned on the surface to enlarge the text so everyone could see.

The description of the Talent was long and complex, it was as if a sentinent being had carefully created the Talent; it was impossible for something so complex like this to be pure coincidence and given naturally. But yet it was so, inherited since birth and not artificial at all.

___

Innate talent: Levelling rate dependant on quantity of kills. Class 0 opponents are worth 1 point, Class 1 opponents are worth two points each, Class 2 are worth three points, and so on. Every ten levels, the points will shift; Ten Class 0 opponents would be worth one point, Class 1 opponents are then worth one point each, Class 2 are worth two points and so on.

After the next tenth level; at level 20, a hundred Class 0 Opponents are needed for a single point, and ten Class 1 opponents for one point as well. The pattern will continue like this.

Extra points will be given on special occasions such as 90%, 95% and 100% health retained, as well as negative level suppression from User to Opponent.

5,000 points are needed to level up.

Experience of 20% of the opponent drop must still be required to be counted as a kill.

___

This would explain Lysine's strange levelling rate. When she was younger, getting kills were harder, whilst her fellow Lamias could still level up due to the low amount of experience required. But for Lysine, experience did not matter, but the quantity of kills.

"Class? What's that?" Kraton and Lysine were intrigued by this new term, it was completely new to them.

Lunia hesitated for a second, but since the information was needed to explain Lysine's Innate Talent, and that it wasn't anything seccretive or precious, she decided to tell them.

"Classes are just a way to categorise the power of a.. uhm.. Class. Like, being a Knight Class or a Mage. This only applies to players this way. For Monsters, it's slightly different.

Most Class Numbers correspond to the Player Class advancement. The Base Class being 0, and the next being 1, et cetera. But there are certain Player Classes which are more powerful than others, and therefore skip a Class Number or two.

From your battle records, you have already encountered a Dark Knight; which is a Knight path available at Level 25, after that is the Dragon Knight at Level 50. These two Classes are stronger than the more normal classes, and thus their different level advancement.

Therefore, their Class is also different from the normal 0,1,2,3 scheme. Starting from the Base Class Knight, and following up to the Dragon Knight, their Class Numbers are 0,2,5 respectively.

Another strange Class is the Mage Class and both of its main pathways, however I won't explain them too much in detail, I'll give you the recorded investiggations and data of all the Classes later."

Lysine nodded in understanding, but Kraton felt like all that she said was a scrambled mix of numbers.

"Heh, you're only at 800 K.P. aren't you?" Lysine laughed, she had just recently seen Kraton's Knowledge Points when he accessed his Data Rock. Compared to him, Lysine was already at 1,001 K.P. After 1,000, it became much harder to gain K.P as one had to fill all their Potential, Subconscious Knowledge with Advanced Knowledge before they could increase any further.

The more they obtained, the harder it got. This was the main reason why hardly nobody out of all the Monsters in the world, managed to pass 1,600 K.P.

Whilst the two Bosses joked around, Lunia had done a quick calculation in her mind.

"Because you were only between level 20 and 29, you would have only shifted it twice. Since you have only been killing a mix of Class 2 and 3's, and there are normally five players in a party, then you have been recieving around 8 points per party.

And since you need 5,000 points to level up, and you have been levelling by one and a bit each month, that means you have been killing over twenty parties a day; 100 people plus. In a week, more than 700 parties challenge your Boss Room or Guards alone. How many players flock you whole dungeon each week then!"

Kraton stared at the Fae dumbfoundedly. Did she really just spurt out even more numbers?!

"Thousands of players, around 1,000 parties each week. and one-fifth of them challenge and die to us or the Golems - our door guards." Lysine scratched her ear as she recalled the statistics.

"No wonder you two level up so quick," Lunia's voice drifted in the air, it seemed to hold an element of awe, the first sign of emotion that she had expressed in front of them. "28 challenges a day..."

On average, most Dungeons of the same level only had less than 15 challenges to the Bosses each day, yet so many parties had challenged the Final Floor of Ophid Crypt each day, even when they all knew that they would die.

Did they really benefit from the previous floors so much that a death and a reduced level didn't mean anything?

True to this wild thought, challenging Floor Five of Ophid Crypt had become an official challenge, many guilds had posted that whoever could beat this Dungeon at a relative level, then they would be offered a chance to join them.

The fame of Ophid Crypt had become so wild, that even some level 40's and 50's had come. A few of them had successfully beaten the dungeon, but they didn't know that Barren had been commanded to 'exit' the room beforehand. This meant that he did not have to expose his true strength (and health) in front of them.

Alas, these players did not get given the chance to join the guilds, in fact, they were reprimanded for trying to show off. And those who were defeated, they were mocked and laughed out, forced to bury their head in shame.

Unbeknownst to the two OC Bosses, Lunia felt relieved as all her doubts were cleared away. She felt that this was an opportunity well snagged by her, if the two continued to grow at this rate, or even higher, they may even be acknowledged by the High Rankers of the underworld.

In this case, she would also be fortunate to be related to them. If the two didn't reach this height, then it wouldn't matter too much, there was hardly any negative impact with her choice.

~~~
The three spent a while clarifying their doubts about the Innate Talents and Life, after that, Lunia shooed the two off in order for them to meet other Intermediates. Of course, she didn't forget to keep her promise about the crystal and other pieces of data she was meant to send.
Before they left, Lunia called out to the two, "I expect the two of you to become level 50 way before two years time, but don't become slothful and arrogant even though you've surpassed others!"
~~~

The Intermediate Gathering was the finish by 4.00 the next day, however you could leave whenever you wanted. They had been chatting for almost an hour now, so they still had plenty of time to meet others.

Psychi had also taken the attention of a High-levelled Boss, whilst Kim had found a group of friendly monsters.

Kraton and Lysine didn't interrupt the two, instead they went to find their own acquaintance. Since their goal had already been met, they didn't have to solely look for someone with Blacksmithy anymore and could now just expand their contacts.

When the two had reentered the crowd, they were instantly swarmed by other Bosses. However, they could sense malicious and impure intent from them. The crowd only dispersed when a someone stepped in-between them.

"Thanks", the two nodded at their saviour who so how happened to be Fynd; the white-flamed Demon.

Fynd nodded back and retreated back to the other Demons, but not before glaring at the rest of the Intermediate Bosses.

After that, no-one tried to forcefully push themselves towards Kraton or Lysine. Even if they thought they were the most powerful Intermediate Boss, they were unwilling to offend any of the Higher Bosses. Especially Fynd.

The two soon found a few trustworthy people who hadn't, and didn't care about their low level, but strong connections. These types of people were the least likely to try and exploit others, but would remain friends no matter what happened.

By the time Kim joined them, they had already befriended a large, steel Skeleton, a Typhoon Harpy and a Dryad and Treant who were Dungeon Partners like them.

When Kim arrived, they were talking with the Dryad and Treant about how they found being Double Bosses in a Dungeon was like.

In a nutshell, both sides believed that it was mainly beneficial to have Double Bosses, but after that it wasn't that efficient as the multiplier would only increase it's value by +50% with each additional Boss.

Kim introduced herself to the two nature Bosses. The Treant was able to understand the Chimera's language of growls, and could then communicate it with the Dryad. The Dryad introduced herself to Kim as Phoebe, she was a nature spirit who had specialised in life force and healing. Furthermore, she could communicate with flora and the rare natural fauna like insects, birds and other animals.

The Treant - Toraunt - on the otherhand, was the attacker and defender on their team. It could summon a large variety of plants and branches, and had also tapped into the death force that it's ancient ancestor the Leshen could once control.

The two Nature Bosses came from just a bit West of the Hell's Dungeon, but not too far away. The distance was comparable to that between the Dungeon and Ophid Crypt. The Boss who lived the furthest away out of the five was Kim; she was a bit more South than Ophid Crypt and waas located in the Desert.

When Psychi also joined them, after having been talking with a Higher Boss for some time, he greeted the five enthusiastically.

It was apparent that he already knew the Nature Bosses, and upon asking a few questions, the other three found out that they could be said to be neighbours.

Lunar Forest; the region in which Psychi was in, was only seperated by the Dryad and Treant's region - Anima Grove - by a single, small mountain which had been used as a meeting point by the Moon Immortals and other forest species for several generations.

Moreover, they had known each other for quite a long time, and Phoeb was the one who taught Pyschi the Skill Heal.

When the clock struck midnight, Kraton found it the reasonable time to return to their Dungeon. After bidding farewell to the others who were going to stay for another hour or two, they set off on their journey back to Ophid Crypt.

Along the way, Kraton yawned almost nonstop, even after the Awakening, he was still the same, old lazy Boss.
