32 (32) Story of Origin

The Story of Origin:

"This story is said to have been passed down generation by generation, however books and scrolls differ, especially with how names are written, therefore the truth of the story can only be heard by tounge."

The first beings were our Gods, not the title of 'God' like the High-Demon God possesses, but true Gods, our creators. It is said that these beings made the world we live in from the void, from a whole lot of nothings; from zero things, to everything.

This was Stage Null.

They turned the whole world on, at first they had one of everything, then they multiplied it and at each stage, but they added the elements of 'luck' and 'change' within each entity.

The first beings who possessed such 'luck', became sentient. They had little to no physical body, but were completely composed of a concentrated mass of 'luck', these beings created the first stage: They sorted the entities out, so that each entity did not mix with others, otherwise the world would fall to immediate uncontrolled Chaos.

The first sign of Chaos were bug-like creatures, hyprids of every single entity they came across. They consumed the other entities, absorbing every part of them, but since the 'luck' was not their own, it became corrupted. 'Luck' is like a key, and the entities are the lock. You cannot jam in the wrong key, otherwise the lock will break, preventing the locked object from being opened without damage. If forced, the whole contraption will break. This is what happened to these creatures. They are called 'Defects'.

The original beings of 'luck' became aware of the corrupted presence, so they found a way to communicate with each other, and eventually with the Creators.

Since the Creators had created the whole world, spotting these Defects was like finding a needle in a haystack, and so they gave power to the 'luck' beings in order to eradicate the Defects.

This power only worked when it sensed the corrupted mixture of entities; the Chaos. And when the power came in contact, the Chaos also vanished, but so did all the matter that made the Defects.

As time went on, these beings of 'luck' cleansed the world and restored the natural order, they helped entities develop without being corrupted, and by preventing the mixture of entirely different entities, they created the first territories. The development of the world had begun, and hence their title: The 'Developers'.

Most entities began to become sentient - this included the Defects. At one point in time, the Defects became aware of what had made them, and so they all started to consume each other.

A new being rose from the corrupted shadows of the world, a Defect that consumed all others, it made up of basically every current entity in the world, bar the Gods and Developers and a few others.

This made it the ultimate being, however with all the Chaos inside it, it threatened to implode, by destroying all this matter, it would undoubtedly become a vacuum; a void much like the start.

Sensing the imbalance, the Developers located this Defect, it called itself the 'Flaw'. The Flaw was found at the boundaries of the world, although the world was huge and spherical, there were joints between the two sides. In between the boundary of all the directions, there was a place in which the Defects thrived.

They had hidden from the Developers here for so long; this was their territory. This area beyond boundaries was called the 'Fracture'. It was an incomplete place where it tore itself beyond reality, senses would lie to oneself, and everything was consumed by unconstrained Chaos.

The place was so vast, that there were not enough Developers to secure the area, the Flaw would always slip between their non-physical fingers. To fight in this corrupted land, they could not directly enter, otherwise their body of concentrated 'luck' would be absorbed; they needed a physical body.

The Developers made their own entity, each developer fashioned it similar to an existing entity, but they gave their creations more power and luck than the natural entities. These creations were called:

" 'Baiter?', umm 'Better' ?, The books and stuff had 'Better' written in, but Zefyre stressed that it was spoken as 'Bait her'. <cough>, anyway..."

[A.N: I'm just gonna write Beta]

These Betas were given a non-corruptable trait, the holy power bestowed upon them by the Developers actively fought against any Chaos that tried to consume these bodies.

The war against the Flaw and the Defects was timeless, it was unknown how long the Beta Testers had fought for inside the Fracture, but one thing was for certain, they came victorious in the end, but only just. Many of the Betas perished, but their essence was kept by the others to give back to the Developers. In a way, they were immortal, unless the essence got consumed by the Chaos, then it would be unretrievable.

The Flaw, along with most of the Defects, were bound and weakened enternally within the Fracture. It is said, that the Flaw is buried beyond the Fracture, beyond the initial Void. But if the Flaw was to perish, it would implode, since it contains every entities' data, every being would feel it's death, it would tear apart every creature's spirit and a new void will consume the whole world.

The Betas found home in the world and lived their life with the entities they were based after.

Generations after the Fracure war, the sentient entities became much more intelligent. They created ecosystems, clans and new lifestyles. It was in the Period of Enlightenment when these entities, no, creatures began to understand life. They invented new ideas, and each creature recognised others and this helped reduce the emergence of new Defects.

Species became more distinct, and so did they growth and lifestyles. Three main categories came about, today they are called 'Monsters', 'Players', 'Non-players' but Non-Players refer to themselfs by their species' name.

All three of these categories shared one thing in common: they normally wouldn't die after being killed by another, unless they were just born, or through other unknown means.

Monsters grew by killing Players, at a certain point, they could control how they grew, enhancing their speed, strength, intelligence or even looks however they wanted. Most monsters were wild animals and creatures, uncivilised and had a natural instinct. They also dropped 'random' loot when killed.

Players were all Non-Players to begin with, but became Players and grew by killing Monsters, and other Players, but the growth rate was higher when killing Monsters. Players only had set attributes they could improve, they couldn't focus their strength on a specific part of their body, but grew as a whole.

Players were often intelligent species by birth, they did not need to kill others to learn, but could also grow naturally. They also discovered Classes and specialised skills before the other two.

When Players fought each other, they had a chance to drop equipment that they owned, unless it was bound to them, but binding equipment needed the Player to sacrifice some of thei growth (now called experience).

Non-Players could kill others and grow, however the growth rate wasn't as significant compared to if they became Players. Instead, These Non-players grew naturally, at an 'ordinary' rate. They needed no Skills to do stuff, but could learn the actual skill through effort, their intelligence about the world and how stuff worked was normally superior to Players and Monsters.

As the divide became more distinct, the once peaceful world broke out in war between the Players and the Monsters. The war was mutual. Both sides fought to grow, and in time, experience and knowledge was discovered.

No side was truly bad. They could coexist with each other, however only Monsters which had grown would have the intelligence to be civilised, the new-born or low-levelled monsters would be feral. The main reason the war has not stopped, was the greed for Power, and that you normally wouldn't die when killed, so there was no need to stop.

According to ancient references, there is a Utopia where there are civilised, intelligent Monsters living among Non-Players and Players who have stopped fighting and have become more like Non-Players.

This Utopia is not cursed at by the three groups, in fact it is respected as it's own empire, anyone can join, and anyone can leave.

In the modern day, there are no Creators, Developers, Betas or Defects present, they had somehow all disappeared. There is no record when or why they vanished, but there are some legends that a few pop out time-to-time.

Some say the ruined land was where some Defects and Betas fought recently, others say it is nonsense. Whether you believe this tale is up to you.
