7 Gifts

"And then? What happened?" asked Tifeo with a tone full of curiosity and sadness at the same time.

"Then the elder, after doing a blood examination to ascertain you was really Alos son, accepted  you as a member of the clan"

"But... why did they accept me? They exiled my mother because they thought the relationship between her and my father would stain the reputation of the clan and, despite this, they accepted me and even faked the identity of my mother to make the other think she was a member of the clan? Why?" said Tifeo with a pensive look on his face.

After a bit of esitation Sharon sighed and then answered his question "When the elders did the blood examination they found out another thing about you that made them accept you. They found out that your blood purity was of the fifty percent and, thinking that others have maximum a purity of the twelve-thirteen percent, it is an astonishing thing. It was the highest purity the elders had ever seen"

"Ahah so it was like this. They picked me up me because they thought I was useful and now that they think I was useless they want to discard me? They treat me like an object" said Tifeo with a sour tone after a bitter laugh.

"I'm... sorry, I want to help you but I don't know how. I will try to speak with Alos but I think it will be useless" said Sharon with a sad tone.

"Don't worry mother you have done more than enough saying me the truth" said Tifeo trying to do a smile, thing that, placed on his sad face caused from the previous story, made his expression look awkward.

Seeing his look Sharon said "I know you will leave the clan in a few days so I want to give you two gifts before you go" and stood up before going toward a wooden chest. She opened it and took a black box covered of strange engraving. After taking it she muttered a quite chant and the engraving began to glow with a dim light and the box opened letting Tifeo see what was inside.

Inside there was only two things, a sword and a pendant. The sword was 130 cm long and, even though it had a simple design that would make anyone think it was a normal sword, it emanated a bloodlust aura so dense that made a drop of cold sweat run down Tifeo spine.

The pendant was in the shape of a wolf's head and was made of a silver like metal.Differently than the sword it didn't emanate an aura and seemed only a simple pendant but, the moment Tifeo eyes met that of the wolf, his vision began to blur.

He closed his eyes and, when he reopened them he, wasn't any more in Sharon room. He was in a quite and dark forest with a sky full of stars and the biggest full moon he ever saw. Suddenly he heard an howl and, turning his gaze toward the direction it come from, he saw a five meter wolf with silver fur on top of a cliff howling toward the moon.

The wolf seemed full of majesty and, when it stopped howling, it turned its gaze toward Tifeo. When Tifeo made eye contact with the wolf again he felt like there was a connection between them but then he heard a bird screech high in the sky and felt like he was pulled away form the scene.

"Tifeooo.TIFEOOOO" screamed Sharon with all the air she had in her lungs.

"Yes I'm awake" said instinctively Tifeo before looking around and seeing he was still in Sharon room and then asked "What happened?".

"What do you mean what happened? You have looked at the box and then remained motionless with a lost look. I called you a few times but you doesn't answer me, it was like you were sleeping with open eyes. I should be the one asking what happened not you" answered Sharon with furrowed brow.

"I...don't know. When I looked at the pendant I had something like an illusion. I've closed my eyes and when I reopened them I found myself in a forest where I see a wolf before hearing a bird screech and returning here" answered Tifeo.

Hearing him Sharon remained motionless with a pensive look on her face before answering "I'm not sure but these object belonged to your mother and I think the pendant was a family heirloom thus it can have reacted with your bloodline and made you see that illusion".

"They belonged to my mother? But... why did I see a wolf?" asked Tifeo.

"Well, I don't know but the Convel clan, the clan your mother belonged to, was said to descend directly from Fenrir, a legendary wolf" answered Sharon.

"It made sense" said Tifeo and then asked after pointing toward the black box "You've said that these items belonged to my mother?".

"Yes, they were the only things I have of her. She had the sword when she arrived here and I've convinced the elders to let me take it while the pendant was around your neck but I took it because, being an heirloom of the Convel clan, I was afraid they would have destroyed it" answered Sharon with a melancholy gaze.

"Where is she buried?" asked Tifeo.

"I wanted to bury her here but the elders didn't want and thus returned the corpse to her clan"

"Are you sure you want to give these objects to me? I mean, they are the only things that remain of your best friend" said Tifeo with a concerned look on his face.

"Yes, I'm sure. She was my best friend but was your mother too and she would have wanted that you had them" answered Sharon before saying "I know you have never wanted to call me mother and, now that you know who your real mother was, if you don't want to call me mother, I will accept it".

Hearing Sharon words Tifeo hugged her tightly and said "Even though you aren't my real mother you have always treated me like your son, with love and gentleness, thus I will consider you my mother forever and I must say I'm proud of having a mother like you".

Hearing his words Sharon remained astonished for a few seconds before starting to cry.

Tifeo continued to hug her until she calmed down and then, after taking the sword and wearing the pendant, said while walking toward the door "I will travel around the world to understand what I want to do and then I will return and, after teaching the elders a good lessons, will take you to a better place... mother".

Hearing his words Sharon remain motionless until he exited the room and then began to cry again while saying with a sad smile "Leila, I'm sure if you'd known your son you would have been the proudest mother ever".
