8 Chapter 8 - I don't know

When Jennifer saw Abby leaving she ran behind her. Winston followed her but Jennifer swiftly made her way to her class. Winston was left behind as he had a different class. Winston was left with no choice but to go to his class. Classes after classes, Jennifer tried to keep herself busy.

After sometime, it was lunch break and Jennifer followed Abby into the cafeteria absentmindedly. Jennifer being a sensitive girl did not like the tension between her and her boyfriend. She was the one to suffer silently and alone rather than openly showcase her anger. In the morning when she pushed Winston, she was hurting too much.

In the cafeteria, Abby spotted Winston sitting alone so she dragged Jennifer towards the table where Winston was sitting despite Jennifer's constant protests. When they both got seated, Winston immediately held Jennifer's hand and said, "Jennifer please forgive me. I'm sorry for yesterday." Jennifer stayed quiet.

Now Abby spoke, "See Jennifer, I don't know what happened yesterday but I want you to make it up with him. You are my best friend and I know you if you stay like this, you will be miserable and make him miserable as well. Winston loves you and fights between couple are healthy. Forgive him." Jennifer now broke into tears as she hugged Winston.

Between her sobs she said "W- Winston babe, I love you very much. Please don't hurt me like this ever again. I am loyal to you and only you." Winston hugged her back and calmed her down. "Baby let me make it up for you. I'll take you for a long drive this weekend. We'll spend the day together and have fun. Okay?" "OK" Jennifer said with a small smile.

The rest of the day Jennifer focused on the upcoming test in history class. She studied very hard and by the time school came to an end, she felt better than what she felt in the morning . Jennifer was happy but she was oblivious of what was about to come. All this time she remained unaware that Adrian's eyes were following her every move.

The moment Adrian laid his eyes on Jennifer in the morning he knew that something was wrong. He wanted to approach Jennifer and talk about it but didn't get the chance. In the cafeteria when he saw Jennifer hugging Winston and crying, an explosion of emotions occurred in the pit of his stomach - Jealousy as Jennifer was close to Winston, Worried as Jennifer was crying and broken because there was something troubling Jennifer but he wasn't by her side. He wasn't the one who held her hand and told her it's okay. He wasn't the one she was hugging while crying out her misery.

The sight of Jennifer crying brought tears in Adrian eyes. "Hey buddy, are you crying?" James asked slightly panicked. Adrian was so cold that even James had never seen him cry. So seeing tears in Adrian's eyes made him panic.

"James, Can I tell you something? Will you help me?" Adrian asked with his hands folded. "Adrian, I will help you. Come let's bunk the rest of classes and go." James said while turning around and moving out of the cafeteria. Adrian followed him. Both of them went to a five star hotel owned by Adrian's father. They ordered themselves a cup of hot chocolate and sat down to talk.

"So what's on your mind?" James started the conversation. "umm…. I…" Adrian was lost. He did not know how to put his emotion into words. James understood this. He patted his back and told him "Take your time" while smiling warmly. This encouraged Adrian and he slowly said "I kind of feel attracted towards Jennifer, the new girl. I don't know how to approach her. She already has a boyfriend. I don't know why but I kind of want her by my side every moment."

He finished his sentence and looked towards James, hoping for an advice. James knew that Adrian was cold and new to this emotion called love. But seeing the fact that Jennifer had sparked this emotion in his best friend, he felt that Adrian could change for the better. He felt hopeful and genuinely wanted to help his friend.

He said "So it's about the girl. Now I understand why you cried 'cause she was crying. Right?" Adrian just nodded. "According to me, if you want to get the girl you need to understand her first. Get to know her. Talk to her but most importantly get your feelings cleared first. Do you like her? Is this love or infatuation? Just know that whatever it is, I'll always support you." James said wisely. "Okay. I'll think about it." Adrian said. Then they both went back home.
