7 Chapter 7- Tears and Smiles

Next day was sunday. Jennifer woke up as her alarm rang. She bolt up straight in her bed to see a notification from Winston. He had texted her to meet him at the park at 12 noon. Since it was still a few hours away, Jennifer decided to pick up her phone and scroll through social media. Then she got out of her bed and went to the washroom. She bathed and get dressed. Since it was a really hot day, she choose a cute outfit. She decided to wear a sleeveless, V -shape button up romper with a small necklace. She picked her shoes and headed out to meet Winston in the park.

She got in the car and her mind starting spinning many thoughts of how she would like to spend the day with her beloved boyfriend. Soon, she reached the park and near the gate, she spotted Winston waiting for her. "Hey baby. How are you?" She said while running towards him.

But as soon as she reached to the spot where Winston was standing, she stopped abruptly. She noticed that Winston wasn't smiling. His face displayed a variety of emotions – anger, jealousy but there was something Jennifer couldn't read. Something that made her stomach jolt uneasily. Something that made her think that her day will not be as pleasant as she had expected.

Winston's eyebrows were frowned and his lips sealed in straight line. His hands in his pocket and his eyes gave away pure anger. As soon as Jennifer reached near Winston, he grabbed her hand and started dragging her towards the nearest bench. Since all this happened without warning, Jennifer was baffled.

She couldn't understand what happened. When both of them reached the bench, Winston sat and asked Jennifer to take a seat. Then he faced her and asked, "Do you love me?" Jennifer was confused at this sudden question but since she loved him blindly, she said yes almost instantly.

"Then why was a man touching you? Why did he have his hands all over you?"

"Uh…mmm…" Jennifer was now even more confused. Which man? Whose hands? Who was he talking about? Judging from the confused looks at Jennifer's face, Winston took out his phone and opened up some photos. These were from last evening at the party with Adrian. Jennifer tried to open her mouth and explain, but she was cut off by Winston speaking.

"Did you have sex?"

"What? No!" Jennifer was now uncomfortable with the situation. "Winston, Adrian is just a –" But again, Winston interrupted her. "See Jennifer. You are only mine. Okay? And I do not like to share what's mine. I don't want to you to see Adrian from now on." Jennifer felt awkward.

How did Winston get those pictures from the party? He wasn't even there. He did not know that Adrian was coming. As a matter of fact, neither did Jennifer but those harsh words from her boyfriend left deep wounds on Jennifer's heart. She was hurt. How come even after so long her boyfriend still didn't trust her? They had been in a relationship for over a year now.

Did he not know that Jennifer was loyal to him and only him. Even before Jennifer could speak anything Winston got up and with his back facing her, he said "go home" before walking away. Jennifer got up. Tears were ready to spill down from her eyes. Her heart broke into a million pieces. Tears were crowding her eyesight but she saw Winston leave.

Jennifer tried to walk but her legs did not support her. She collapsed right next to the bench and started crying. She cried hard. With her head in her knees, she cried for so long that she lost track of time. After a few hours when the evening was setting him she came back to her senses. Winston fought with her many times in the past but this time even she did not understand why it hurt her so much.

Slowly she regained her composure and went back home. She went into her room straight away, without having dinner she laid on her bed till she cried herself to sleep. Next morning, She woke up with red puffy eyes and very messy hair. Jennifer didn't feel like going to school today but she knew her parents were really strict on school attendance.

Since she wasn't willing to tell her parents what happened, she decided to get out of her bed and go to school. She got dressed, had her breakfast as she was starving from last night and ran to catch up her bus. She met Abby at the bus stop.

Abby noticed something was wrong but decided to ignore it. She didn't want to bring up the topic that hurt Jennifer once again so instead she talked about other things. She told her how she spent her weekend but dare not ask her about her's. Jennifer just listened. She didn't want to tell Abby about yesterday. Soon they reached the school.

In school, Jennifer saw Winston talking to a boy she did not know. She had never seen this boy before. When Winston noticed Jennifer and Abby walking towards him, he hurriedly told the boy to go away. When Jennifer and Abby reached near Winston, Winston engulfed Jennifer in a hug. He whispered a small 'sorry' before breaking the hug.

Jennifer was now angry and she didn't want this incident to be forgotten so easily. She wanted Winston to know that she was deeply hurt so she pushed him away. Abby was taken aback. She couldn't understand why Jennifer behaved in such a manner but she thought it was better to give them some privacy so she excused herself and ran inside the school.
