14 Chapter 14- Euphoria

Jennifer was confused at this sudden cold behavior of Adrian but she didn't even get the chance to ask so she shrugged it off. A maid entered the room and said "Ma'am the dinner table is set. Please come and have dinner." Jennifer was about to say that she wants to wait for her parents but then she noticed her father's notification saying that they will be late today. So, she decided to have dinner.

She followed the maid to the huge dinner table set on the pristine ironwood floor. The table was fully laid. Jennifer sat on the table and starting having her dinner. She was thinking about the cake she ate with Adrian about half-an-hour ago on the same table.

Her train of thought led her to the day when she first saw Adrian in the cafeteria. A cold boy who was the prince of the every girl's dream. She chuckled at the thought. Next she remember the magical evening she spent with him, the first time they talked. She never thought that such a boy was so soft and nice to her while he gave a cold shoulder to every other girl. She recollected those wild emotions that erupted her when they made an contact for the first time.

She remember the time when she was first treated by him for burning her finger with the straightener. The daily fun of going to school and see him. Jennifer glances back her finger that was now fully recovered. She smiled sweetly at the thought. How fond were her memories of this boy! It is such a miracle that she could become friends with him in a short span of time. She felt safe and happy when he was around. It was almost like a dream.

Her euphoria was interrupted by a notification on her phone. It was from Adrian. He was apologizing for his cold behavior in the evening. But rather than the text, Winston's photograph which was her lock screen captured her attention. It was from the day they went for their first date.

The sight of Winston made her a little sad. Lately she had been experiencing problems with her relationship. Winston was aloof to her problems. Abby also seemed distant. Winston was forcing her into a lot of things lately. He ignored her mostly and made her feel worthless.

Jennifer recalls the time when they both were happy and most importantly, in love. Since it was already pass her bedtime. Jennifer decided to go back to the bed.

Next day, when the morning sunrays weave their way to Jennifer's face through her light blue curtains draped across the window, Jennifer wake up from her sleep. Jennifer remembers that Abby's birthday was coming. She had already decided what she was going to gift her. "I will go to the mall this evening after school. I personally want to handpick her gift". Jennifer thought to herself.

She gets up from her bed, takes a bath and got ready to go to school. When she came downstairs to have her breakfast, She was greeted by her mother. "Good morning baby." Jennifer's mother said these words in her euphonious voice. "Good morning mom." Jennifer replied back. When the mother- daughter duo sat down to have their breakfast, Jennifer said "Mom, please tell the driver to prepare a car this evening. I have to go to the mall to but Abby's birthday gift." Jennifer's mom nodded.

When Jennifer finished her breakfast, she ran towards the bus stop to catch her bus. As usual, she met Abby on the bus stop. They both reached the school and met Winston. Jennifer pecked Winston on the cheek and all of them went inside the school. The day at school was pretty usual. All of those classes, lectures, teachers, those students and their continuous chattering… everything was pretty much same. Jennifer finished her day at school with no difficulties and soon she was heading home.

She didn't tell Winston or Abby about her plans because she wanted it to be a surprise. Jennifer got back home and after freshing up she again headed out to buy Abby's birthday present. She reached the mall and went to multiple stores trying to choose the perfect gift for her perfect friend. She saw multiple presents but no one of them appealed to her. Finally one gift captivated to her. She decided to pick it up. She paid $20,000 and packed the gift.

Jennifer was about to step out of the store when she spotted Abby in the store right in front of the one she was standing in. Jennifer ducked behind the counter to hide till the time Abby went to another store. After hiding for full five minutes, Jennifer came out of her hiding spot and ran towards her car at the full speed. When she reached towards her, she sat inside panting. She told the driver "Drive". This was all she said before she felt the cars engine spring back to life.

Jennifer was about to leave when she saw Winston and Abby a few meters away from her car, holding hands. "Wait a minute. Is that Winston?" she thought to herself. Jennifer instantly took out her phone and texted Winston asking him where he was. Winston replied he was at home. Jennifer again raised her head to clearly see who was standing next to Abby but too late, the car was already on the road.

She was being driven away from the mall. "I might have been mistaken. He couldn't be Winston. He said he is at home. Why would my baby lie?" Jennifer settled on the thought that she mistakenly thought that Winston was present with Abby at the mall. Such was her everlasting, unconditional love for her boyfriend.
