27 Chapter 27

Great, I've even got a leg and forearm sheath with them, which was perfect. Though ideally, I'd keep them in my inventory and take them out directly to my hand, instead of adding extra weight to myself. But this gave me a cover to use them in front of people, so I'm not complaining. But I can't take them out just yet, it would be very suspicious, as no one had ever seen me using them before. So, I will have to go further from camp to train my knife throwing skills this time around.

The only reason it took me so much time to reach this level, is because I had to make pointless runs to get the knives I dropped. This time, I'll be able to make twenty throws before I have to go get them all.

Unlocking the skill didn't mean I would never miss the shot, in fact, I still missed plenty, and the skill wasn't usable in battle at all. I will have to put it a lot of efforts before that's the case, but I was tired and it was getting dark, and I had no intention of staying away from camp with no visibility doing something that would take most of my focus away.

"Hello!" Amy waved cheerfully at me. It was time for dinner, and the whole group was grouped around the camp fire. I sat next to Amy as she beckoned me to.

"Hello, Amy, how have you been?" I smiled at her, I really liked her energy.

"Great, it was a productive day!" she said. "How about you?"

"Smashing!" I grinned, while she raised an eyebrow.

"'Smashing'?" she air-quoted.

"What? I can't use fancy words now?" she just smiled and shook her head.

"I haven't seen you around camp the whole day, though. What have you been up to?" she asked.

"Throwing knives at some poor tree out there." I shrugged.

"That bored, huh."

"Not really, Daryl showed me how to throw knives." I added. "I thought it could be an interesting skill to have, and it's like there is much to do around here." She nodded in understanding.

"If you want, I could give you one of my books." She offered, and I turned to look at her. "What?" she said defensively. "I like reading books."

"I didn't say anything." I raised my hands in surrender. "I like reading books as well, actually. I might take you up on that offer."

"Really? What's your favorite book?" she asked curiously.

"Harry Potter." I said without hesitation. And I could see the change was immediate in her, as she looking at me with shinning eyes.

"ME TOO!" she said loudly, probably not intending to do so, drawing the attention of everyone else, who gave her weird looks. "Sorry." She rubbed her noise sheepishly. I just laughed at her face hysterically.

"Sorry, that was priceless." I said through muffled laughter. What followed was a conversation about why Harry Potter is the best book in the world, and whom her favorite character and mine were. Hers was Severus Snape, believing that he was just dealt a bad hand in life, and that he had so much potential if only it was explored properly. To be honest, I liked the character as well, at least in the movies, and I did read my fair share of fanfictions where he ended up being a badass, but his bullying in the books left much to be desired. We spent about two hours, talking about anything related to the Harry Potter verse, including the different fanfictions we've both read when Internet was still a thing.

We even got into a heated argument about what was the most powerful spell, me firmly believing that Protego Diaboloca was the most OP spell in that world, and her refusing to acknowledge the existence of the spell since the Crimes of Grindelwald were never released here. I ended up saying that it was probably a fanfiction about Grindelwald I had mistaken as 'canon'. Though we did end up arguing again about which Dark Lord was worse: Grindelwald or Voldemort. We were both sleepy by the time we finished our discussion.
