"Hey, kid. We are here to save you," Aru called out to Maya.
She was crouching down near the entrance, looking at the ground. Her face was hidden, and she didn't notice Aru and Jaya approaching.
"Hey," Aru called out once again.
The familiar voice had caught her attention and snapped her out of her thoughts.
Then she lifted her head to look up. Through her blurry, tear-filled eyes, she looked at Aru and Jaya.
Her round eyes focused on them with an indecipherable combination of emotions flickering in them.
Jaya felt his blood boil seeing Maya's condition.
Even though he was just a bodyguard, he had seen the child grow up with his very own eyes. To him, Maya was like a family member.
The fact that she was being mistreated broke his heart and enraged him simultaneously.
'Those damned demons,' he cursed silently in his mind.
Jaya broke the iron gate of the prison cell and walked in.
