7 Lord Devinn

After browsing through the knowledge about extracting Spark of Laws from a bloodline, Davis shook his head in disappointment. He looked at Logg and then said, " So you didn't succeed even after 300,000 years. I just learned that a bloodline needs to be ingested first and develop its own Spark of Law before you can convert it into the corresponding rune."

Logg had long come out of Davis' Matrix core and was fiddling with a vial in the laboratory. He seemed to be lost in his thoughts for a moment before he said, " yes. It is as you learned in the knowledge I just imparted you. A sort of reaction has to occur between the host and the bloodline. It is basically a simple fusion between both of them for a Spark of Law to appear eventually..."

Logg then paused for a moment before his gigantic face, which only showed big eyes, looked jubilant. He turned to look at Aldric Who seemed to be waiting to hear important news, " Aldric, It was a success. Our conjectures were spot on."

Davis looked at both of them and then asked, " What is a success?"

Aldric then proceeded to answer, "While you closed your eyes earlier to peer through the Matrix core's knowledge, Logg here split himself into two and then his clone went to see if he could leave the island since he just fused with you."

Davis then smiled, "He succeeded?"

Aldric nodded, "Yes. You will have a useful partner when you leave this island in the near future. I imagine that Logg must be thrilled at the prospect of gaining even more knowledge than he would ever gain in a place like this."

"That's great! I'm relieved that I won't be alone. Oh...could he communicate with you while he was outside? Since we both have a Matrix Core, wouldn't it be useful if we can communicate while I'm outside?" , Said Davis.

Logg shook his gigantic head and said, " I'm afraid it won't be possible. I tried communicating with him and it didn't work which means that the Spatial Seal around the island prohibits that kind of communication. Well...I already have all his knowledge copied inside me, so it'll be like he never left us. We can rely on Aldric's vast knowledge of the universe while we travel."

" That knowledge dates back to a million years ago. Are you sure it's still accurate?" Davis expressed his doubts.

Logg said, "It may be inaccurate, but that's all we have right now. If we encounter some trouble on the way, we'll adapt that's all."

Davis then asked about the day of his departure and Logg answered that he would need at least twelve hours to prepare himself.

Thirteen hours later, Davis was at the barrier bidding farewell to Aldric Draalsar.

To better guide Davis, Logg was inside Davis' Matrix Core.

Davis was flying through the skies in the form of a small yellow and purple bird. He had taken his bird form and then condensed it into a twenty-five-inch long little bird. It was Logg's idea. From Logg's words, it was the best way to travel without attracting too much attention, at least while they were still on a planet where magic and magical beings didn't exist.

While he wasn't happy about acting like an animal, he was however happy about the prospect of hunting powerful human cultivators for their blood which in turn would help him regain his humanity.

Davis believed it would be a piece of cake with his unlimited vitality that the Fire Of Rebirth gave him that made him invincible in combat. He saw himself as an undead that wouldn't rest until his enemy was dead. Of course, if there was a way to get the blood without fighting, he was open to it.

"You said the Ascendant Human Realm?" Davis asked.

"Yes, that is our destination. In Aldric's memories, that's where the powerful humans used to congregate back then. Let's just hope it wasn't destroyed after the last war." Logg said.

"How long until we get there?"Davis asked.

"With this speed, it will take us at least 3000 years. It's too far...and you shouldn't worry because your lifespan goes up to a few million years with your first rebirth. Compared to that, 3000 years is nothing." Logg said.

Davis immediately felt irritated. For some reason, he couldn't find it inside himself to accept that he would have to fly in space for three Millenium.

It was at that moment that the space around them rumbled and formed cracks visible to the naked eye.

Logg's hurried voice was then heard, "Get out of these space cracks. Someone very powerful is targeting you and is using a long-range Teleportation spell to bring you somewhere."

Alarmed, Davis stopped flapping his wings and then used his mind to force his body to fly even faster.

Unfortunately, he didn't make it in time and was swallowed whole by the space cracks.

The next time Davis opened his eyes, he was deep in space.

He looked around and saw that the nearest star was too far to even think of reaching it.

As he looked behind him, a mere 10 meters away from him, he saw what looked like a man sitting on a huge boulder. He couldn't see his face and only saw the man's backside. All he could see was the white hair that reached the man's shoulders and the blue robe the man was wearing.

Looking closely, Davis realized that the man had a fishing rod in his hands and seemed to be fishing for something in the void of space.

In Davis' mind, there was no doubt that the white-haired man in front of him was the one who had summoned him. He even tried to confirm it with Logg who seemed to remain awfully quiet ever since they had arrived there.

Not knowing what to do and with Logg not responding to him, Davis decided to abandon his bird form and take his humanoid form. It was the best form he could take if a fight broke out.

Logg finally said, "I would advise you to find out what he wants first instead of fighting. I just scanned him and I got nothing."

Davis asked, "What do you mean you got nothing?"

"I mean, I should've known his race or what kind of powers he wields. Instead, I got nothing at all which means that he is neither human, god, devil, demon or any other subspecies that I know of. As for his power, at first glance, this being appears to be an empty husk. There is no ounce of power in him...at least that's all my knowledge tells me...but for him to bring us so far from home, he must have relied on a power that's off the charts from anything we know." Logg said.

Davis didn't want to hear such answers but he had to steel himself and keep asking, "How far from home are we?"

"Assuming you fly at top speed all the time, you will barely cover half the distance before you die of old age...of course, if you had your second Rebirth, with your new powers in play, we could get there in a couple of thousand years."

Davis sighed silently and then pushed his humanoid body to face the white-haired man.

When he got in front of the man, what he saw left him shocked.

The man's colour was as white as snow, just like his hair. He had a white vertical eye on the forehead above white eyes and white pupils. In fact, if you weren't close enough, you would assume he had no pupils because his three eyes were so white with a white element or smoke leaking out of them.

The man seemed to be even younger than Davis was when he was human.

Davis then said to the man with souls sense resonance, "Ex...excuse me, sir. Could you please tell me why I am here? ...and would it be too much to ask that you bring me back where you found me?"

The white-haired man then looked up and his cool and poised voice was heard, "Finally...after countless trillions of years of waiting, I've found you... You...the one who possesses the most Fate energy since the creation of this Multiverse."

For a moment, Davis had the impression that the white-haired man was speaking in tongues. He couldn't decipher the cryptic meaning behind the man's words. He reckoned that words like 'Fate energy' and 'Multiverse' were far too advanced for him to understand.

The white-haired man then said, "Let's continue this in my domain. It's more comfortable there." Just as the man's words ended, his third eye released a blinding white light.

It was then that Davis saw a white fist-sized crystal embedded in the man's chest. He saw the man's body turn into a milky white liquid that was then absorbed by the white crystal. Before long, in the span of three seconds, all that was remaining of the man was the white crystal.

The crystal then released a blinding white light, forcing Davis to close his eyes. When he opened them again, he found himself in a world made of a white element. He couldn't see the end of that world, it seemed to be endless.

The white-haired man was there as well, except that all that Davis could see of the man's body were his three white eyes. The rest of the man's body seemed to become one with the white environment.

Davis felt overwhelmed by everything that was happening. As for the silent Logg, he seemed to have lost himself in analyzing everything around them and recording as much as it could for research purposes.

"Welcome to my domain...now...before you start panicking...let me introduce myself. But before that, let me tell you that your life is in no danger. You should rejoice because having a being like myself deign to talk to you is the highest honour you could ever receive in the entire Ultraverse." The man's voice seemed to be coming from all corners of the white world.

Davis thought, "I met a narcissist. What's an Ultraverse?...well at least my life is safe for now. I don't know if I should believe a stranger, but something tells me that there's more to this meeting than meets the eye."

Davis wasn't cautious by nature, but at that moment, he felt compelled to be vigilant, especially when his life seemed to be in someone else's hands. He felt more afraid than when he used to be a slave with no other future than a life of servitude. At least then, he knew what to expect of his life. Now, he wasn't sure what this strange meeting would bring him.

The man's voice was then heard again, "My friends call me Lord Devinn and I am the strongest being in the Ultraverse. My friends and I created the United Pantheon. It is an organization whose sole purpose is to find the strongest beings in all the Multiverses of the Ultraverse and nurture them to become even stronger. We do that to ensure that when the day comes that the Ultraverse is under attack, we have a fighting chance against the outsiders who seek to enslave us." Lord Devinn paused for a moment before he continued, "You have a substantial amount of Fate energy. It means that you are a chosen of the Soros Multiverse that you live in. Those who have that much Fate energy are destined to become unparalleled in their own Multiverse. We scour the Ultraverse for individuals like you as well because if we can give them the strength they would've had when they reached their peak early on, there's no telling how high Fate can bring them. They wouldn't become stronger than me because my power is unique nor would they become stronger than a Creation God, but they will be close to being beings like us."

Davis then said, "So, in short, you're here to recruit me and give me more power?"

Lord Devinn nodded, "Yes, that's right. You see... my power is to grant myself and others wishes as long as I have sufficient Arcane Energy. Arcane Energy is the power source of my power and it's an energy that, if given time, keeps multiplying itself exponentially. So, I never run out. The world you're in right now is where that energy is stored. It's this white light that you see. It may seem endless but believe me, there's a limited amount of it. More than eight hundred trillion years worth of accumulation of Arcane Energy to be exact. That's enough to make countless wishes. When I sent this clone to your multiverse it only had one trillion years worth of energy. The reason I left myself that much of a window between my arrival in this multiverse and our meeting was because I wanted to have enough energy for the wishes you would make as well as prepare a good enough final gift for you."

When Davis heard that he could get anything he wanted through wishes, the first thing that came to his mind was thinking about becoming human once again. His previous caution was thrown to the wind as he didn't even try to ask himself why a stranger would choose to invest so much in him for free.

Before he was asked to make a wish, the impatient Davis went ahead and said, "I want to become human again. Can you do it?"

Lord Devinn nodded and said, " I can do it, but then you would lose your Phoenix powers. The is a chance that there would be a backlash with Fate should you choose to stray away from your current powers. Your best choice would be to wish to become human while keeping your powers."

As Davis was about to agree to Lord Devinn's suggestion, he heard a frantic Logg, "Idiot! Wish for the 10th Rebirth and then, only then, wish to become human."

Davis thought that it was reasonable. He wasn't sure what he would exactly become after those two wishes but he looked forward to it. It hadn't been long that he was turned into a bird and he was already sick of it.
