The colour of blood could actually be divided into many different shades.
For example, the blood in the arteries shines bright red with life, while the blood in the veins is darker. Blood that has started to coagulate will be tinted black.
The blood red of the dispatch was a very weird shade of red, as if the envelope had been soaked in blood and left to dry, so the red at the top was lighter while the red at the bottom was darker.
