Before Elaine could reach Dikks, he took off, sprinting away for his life. Watching him go, Elaine sighed and turned back to her work.

Maybe if she could finish early enough...

She stayed there passed dusk. And at midnight, she was done chopping the wood. It was a dark forest and as she walked, she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched...stalked.

Elaine tried convincing herself she was only being paranoid. But the longer she walked through, the worse the feeling of being watched became.

Finally, when she heard a twig snap behind her, she spun around swiftly, facing the darkness which had just emerged from.

"Who is there?," she called out. Her demeanour was stiff and she held her breath in anticipation. For a few long seconds which seemed even longer to Elaine, she heard nothing, she saw nothing.
