1 Chapter 1 - Bad Date

Athy was sitting alone at a table in a fine dining restaurant. She was waiting for her blind date to come who was now 45 minutes late. "Miss, are you ready to order?" The waiter said as he came to fill her empty cup of water. "No, I'm still waiting for someone." Athy said as she tried to force out a smile at the waiter. "Ok. Take your time." The waiter said as he left her table to attend his other tables. Athy look at her phone. "Ugh...where is he? Don't tell me he stood me up? Even when I reserved this expensive restaurant!" Athy whispered to herself. 20 minutes later, Athy blind date arrived. "Sor...Sorry. I'm late!" He said as he sat in the chair across from her. His hair was a mess and he smell of sweat that Athy had to hold her breath. "No, it's ok. Now that you are here, let's order!" Athy said as she open her menu trying to take her mind off of his appearance. This was her first time seeing him in person and he look totally different from his picture. Her coworker had set her up with him and she had mindlessly agree to it. The guy who was now sitting in front of her was fat and had brown hair that looked like a bird nest. The suit he was wearing looked old and unwashed. In the picture, he was skinny and well...looked much cleaner. "Oh! Let me introduce myself! My name is Jake Langster and you must be...Athy. Such a pretty name for a pretty lady. I can't believe you booked us at a pretty nice place! Oh yes! You must be hungry! Let's order!" He said quickly while he open up the menu. 'Well he doesn't look like his picture. Anyway, looks aren't that important. Maybe his personality is good. Let's not judge too quickly now, Athy.' Athy said to herself. "Are you ready to order cause I am?" He said as he look around for the waiter to come take his order. "Yes, I am." Athy said as she closed her menu and took a sip of her water. "Waiter! Waiter! We are ready to order!" He yelled so loudly that Athy almost spit her water right out. The waiter came to their table kind of looking annoy as he took his pen and paper out. "I guess you are ready to order now miss?" The waiter said while looking at her. "Yes. I would like to order the chef's salad and the vegetable soup, please." Athy said while smiling and handing the waiter her menu. "And for you sir. What would you like to order?" The waiter said. "That's all you're eating? Well damn, ok for me I would like to get the steak, cook rare. I also want the lobster, spaghetti, and this whole section of the menu. Please bring out your best wine too!" He said as he hand his menu to the waiter too. "Um...let me just repeat your order so that I can get it right. You want the steak cook rare, lobster, the Pearl's spaghetti special, and the whole section of menu 2?" The waiter said while writing everything down. "Yes! Did you not hear me the first time?!" "Well, it's just that not everyone who comes to this restaurant orders off the entire menu." "EVERYTHING!" Athy accidentally blurted out, she was too lost in her thought thinking about eating that she didn't hear what her blind date had order. "Yes. Is there a problem with that?" "Ok...sir, miss. I will have your orders right up and I will go ahead and get you your wine." The waiter said as he quickly left their table. "Will you be able to finish all of that?" "No, I just want to try it all. It's been a long while since I been at a fancy restaurant!" Athy tried to smile at him and just continued on drinking her glass of water. "Well, I guess we could split the bill. Since he ordered all that stuff, he will be paying for his stuff and I will be paying for my stuff." Athy said to herself. The waiter came back to their table with the bottle of wine and fill both of their glasses up. "The food will come out shortly." The waiter said and then left. "So, tell me Athy. What do you do?" "You mean my job?" "Yes, yes, your job?" "Well I work for an insurance company as a sales person." "Oh! You must be making bank!" "Bank?" "It means money. Lots of money! Gosh! Do I have to tell you everything?" "Um. So what do you do?" "I play games." "Games?" "Yes! That's what I do!" "Ok." Athy said as she didn't want to go forward with the conversation. Shortly after, the waiter came to their tables to drop off the food they had order. "Your salad and soup, miss. And your steak cooked rare for you sir. The rest of the food will come out later." "Later! I need it now! If I order it all at once, it should come out all at once! Where is your manager?!" "Sir, please calm down! I will tell the chef to quickly cook your food. It takes time to cook all the food you order and since you order so much, we can't get everything ready in time." The waiter said in a panic. "Get me your manager!" He yell while banging the table. "Omg!" Athy said to herself as she tried to cover her embarrassment of the scene her blind date was causing. "Ok. Ok, sir. I will get my manager." The waiter said as he quickly left the table. But as soon as he was leaving, Athy grab his arm. "Waiter. You don't have to get your manager. We will wait." Athy said while glaring at her blind date. "Oh! Thank you, miss! I will get the rest of your food out as fast as I can!" The waiter said while smiling. As soon as the waiter left, Athy could see her blind date wasn't too happy at what she did. "Why you gone do that?!" "Do what?" "I wanted to speak to their manager!" "For what?" "For their horrible service! You ruin everything! You made me look like a fool!" "Horrible service? Just because they didn't bring out all the food at once? You got to be kidding me!" "I am the man, so I should make the decisions!" "What?!" "Hmph! Let's just eat!" He said as he took a knife to carve his bloody rare steak. Soon after, the waiter came back and brought everything out. He refilled their glasses of water and wine. "Let me know if you need anything else. I will leave the check on the table." The waiter said and then quickly left. The table was completely fill with plates of various type of food. It was also Athy first time seeing dishes she never seen before. "Let's dig in!" Her blind date said. But Athy didn't touch the other dishes but her own salad and soup. Since she wasn't going to pay for his order, she didn't want to touch or eat it. "Hmph. My mom makes better food than this!" He said with food in his mouth. Their entire date conversations somehow ended up with him only talking about his mom and how much he loved his mom. After eating, he took a look at the check that was set on the table. Then he closed it. "Ughh...I think I ate too much. I'm going to go use the restroom. Bye!" "Ok." Athy said annoyed. She was totally ready for the date to be over. 10 minutes go by, 20 minutes go by, then 50 minutes go by. But he never came back from the restroom. "Miss. Are you done with the check? Is there anything else I could get for you? We are getting ready to close. " The waiter said as pour more water into her cup. "Um...I'm waiting for my blind date to comeback from the restroom." Athy said nervously. "Oh, you mean that guy, I saw him walked out the door 30 minutes ago. I stopped him and he said you will pay for the meal." The waiter said. "WHAT?! ME!" Athy said angrily as she open up the check to see how much everything cost. '$459.89' was the total. "Omg! WTF!" Athy yelled. "Um...miss. So will you be paying?" "Argghhh!" Athy said in annoyance and open her purse to grab her credit card. She slam the card on the check and hand it over to the waiter. "Thank you, miss! Would you like a to go box?" The waiter said while holding the check. "Hmph, yes! Please!" Athy said. That fat pig didn't even finish everything and left her with the bill. $459 gone just like that. Of course she going to take the food home, it would be a waste of food and her good hard earned money! The waiter brought back her card and receipt. He also brought some to go box for her to pack the leftover food in. Athy quickly packed the food and left the tip for the waiter. Once she got home, she angrily message her coworker who had set her up. This was definitely one of the many bad date she has ever had! A $459 bad date!
