1 Chapter 1 The beginning

The Battle of Iwo Jima, known as the most brutal battle on the Pacific battlefield, lasted from February 19 to March 26, 1945.

The entire island was almost reduced to scorched earth.

A total of 6,821 American soldiers were killed and 21,865 wounded in this battle.

22,703 Japanese soldiers were killed, and 1,083 surrendered.

During the battle, Sergeant Jon Hardy, who belonged to the Marine Division, was very brave and shot more than a dozen Japanese soldiers.

While leading his team to charge, he was unfortunately shot through the chest by a bullet.

When he woke up, he had been moved to the hospital ship for treatment, but no one knew that at this time, Jon Hardy's body had been replaced by a soul from the future.

Jon Hardy was born in 1921. He is 24 years old this year. He has no father or mother in his family and only has a middle school education. He has been a soldier for five years and has participated in many battles, developing a strong character.

A different soul comes from the future of 2024.

A hundred years separated the two souls.

After a long time, he finally accepted his new identity.

The female nurse in charge of Hardy is called Catherine. There are dozens of nurses on the ship, and Catherine is the youngest and most beautiful one.

Catherine changed Hardy's dressing, used iodophor to disinfect the front and rear wounds, poured sulfonamide powder, wrapped it in gauze, and helped Hardy lie down.

"Sergeant Hardy, I believe you will feel better soon." Catherine was comforted with a smile.

"Thank you, Miss Nurse."

A few days later, the hospital ship was filled with wounded people and set sail back to Hawaii Harbor. Hardy discovered something. His injury was originally considered serious, but his recovery was unusually fast.

No inflammation.

The wound scabbed over in two days.

Ten days left, only a scar.

Completely recovered after half a month.

This recovery speed is almost 10 times that of ordinary people.

Hardy did not dare to tell others for fear of being regarded as a monster, but he guessed and suspected that this was his time travel benefit.

Now the two souls have not yet completely merged, and the two memories are constantly interacting, which makes Hardy sometimes feel a trance-like and very uncomfortable emotion pop up in his mind.

He went to see a doctor. Of course, he couldn't talk about time travel. He only asked how to alleviate his mental trance.

Most of the doctors on the ship were surgeons, and they were not specialists at dealing with unusual cases like Mile Hardy's illness. They concluded that it might be a mental illness.

After coming off the battlefield, many soldiers suffer from war trauma syndrome.

The doctor gave him a few sedatives and wrote a check-up note, asking Hardy to go to a psychiatric department for a thorough check-up after arriving in Hawaii.

The ship was full of wounded people, and the nurses were very busy every day, which made them very tired. Hardy had recovered a lot, and he could still help Catherine.

With Hardy's help, Catherine's workload has been reduced a lot, and Hardy has made many friends while caring for patients.

Half a month later, the ship crossed the Pacific and arrived at the Port of Hawaii. All the wounded disembarked, including the nurses on the ship.

There will be another wave of nurses to replace them.

Hardy received a physical examination at the hospital. The doctor found that he had recovered, but he did not pay too much attention to it. There were too many injured people, and the doctor did not have the energy to pay special attention to him.

Hardy took the note from the ship's doctor to a psychiatric examination. After a brief inquiry, the doctor here diagnosed him with postwar psychological trauma syndrome.

In conclusion,He was hospitalized for one month for psychological treatment.

In the inpatient unit, Hardy saw Catherine again, and the two were already very familiar. Hardy was very fond of this girl with two dimples in her smile and invited Catherine to have dinner at a restaurant in downtown Honolulu.

After dinner, the two took a walk on the gentle beach, enjoying the gentle sea breeze and the beautiful night.

It was a bit late, so they did not return to the hospital. Instead, they walked into the hotel and had a pleasant and beautiful conversation on the bed.

Afterwards, Catherine lay in the man's arms, stroking the gun scars on his solid chest muscles. She told Hardy that she thought Hardy was the most handsome on the boat.

In the morning, Catherine went to the hospital to work, and Hardy was lying on the bed. After a night of physical and mental treatment by the nurse, he felt that his symptoms of mental trance were much better.

Hardy once saw someone on the Internet saying that love is the best medicine for healing psychological trauma, and now he believes it.Walking into the hotel bathroom naked.

In the mirror, The man has a strong body, six-pack abs, mermaid lines, strong thighs, short black hair, small but deep eyes, and a naturally fierce look.

Grinning slightly, there was a ruffian air in his smile, no wonder women like it.

During the next month of treatment, Hardy spent half of the month in the hotel with Catherine.

Catherine is a nurse, so she must wear a nurse uniform.

White hat, stethoscope, stockings, vacuum nurse uniform, these are really a perfect match.

But the good times are always short-lived. On this day, a second lieutenant officer found Hardy.

"Sergeant Hardy, your injury has recovered, and the military is ready to arrange for you to return to the team and continue serving."

Hardy immediately shook his head.

He now has a modern soul in his body; he was once assassinated by the C.I.A. While he understood that he had acquired some crucial and important national defense information that could threaten the national defense, had it fallen in the hands of the Russians, he still had a bitter test after that, so working for the Americans again didn't feel right.

Besides, whether the U.S. won again or lost, he, as a small sergeant, didn't really matter in the grand scheme of the war.

Moreover, small soldiers like him were never invited to the table where they devised the benefits, so why risk joining the war again?

After all, the battlefield is ruthless. Although he recovers from his injuries much faster than others, he is not immune to death.

Even if a bullet hits the body, he will still bleed, and if his head is blown out, he will definitely die.

He has made up his mind to retire.

He went to a psychiatrist and said he was still in a trance. The doctor gave him a certificate of post-war trauma syndrome, and Hardy left the army.

A few days later, he received a pitiful discharge allowance of a few hundred dollars and a combat medal. He said goodbye to Catherine at the hotel and boarded a cruise ship back to Los Angeles the next day.

Where do I go from now on? Hardy is actually a little confused now.

Through these two months of observation, he found that the world was somewhat specious and that many places were different from the world in his memory.

In his past life memory, the current president of the United States should have been Harris Truman, but now he is an old guy named Johnson Trump.

There are many things in this world that he knows, and there are also many companies and celebrities that he has never heard of.

In the newspapers, he also saw some reports. For example, the newspapers reported a few days ago that the leader of the Mafia Corleone family and godfather, Vito Corleone, held a grand wedding for his youngest daughter, Connie.

Hardy was a little confused when he saw this report.

Father Vito Corleone marries his daughter. Isn't this the plot in the movie "The Godfather"? How would it appear here?

"The FBI has once again filed an indictment against Chicago gang leader Al Chapone. This is the seventh accusation Al Chapone has faced in his lifetime. I don't know if the underground emperor of Chicago will survive safely this time."

Not long ago. He also read a news report.

The federal court prosecuted Nucky Thompson for tax evasion and sentenced him to ten years in prison. Nucky Thompson was imprisoned, causing several major forces in Atlantic City to fall apart and make the future unclear.

He didn't care at the time.

Now that he thinks about it, isn't this the plot of "Boardwalk Empire"? Hardy seriously doubted that he had traveled to the world of film and television.

He was ready to settle down first and get to know the world before taking action.

The cruise ship arrived in Los Angeles, and he then took a bus back to his hometown in Orange County. He rented a small apartment and settled down. A few days later, he found a job as a waiter in a pub.

His working hours were from three in the afternoon to eleven at night, which gave Hardy a lot of time during the day.

Get up in the morning and go for a run to exercise.

There is a boxing gym near his home. Hardy signed up and would go to the boxing gym to practice boxing in the morning.

Traveling to this time and space, Hardy initially expected to see if there would be a system mentioned in the novel, but unfortunately, it did not appear after waiting for a long time.

However, he also discovered that he was different from ordinary people. for example, his physical recovery ability is ten times stronger than that of normal people.

I already noticed this when I was reborn.

When practicing boxing in a boxing gym, you will inevitably get injured, such as from muscle strains, swollen eye sockets, bruised fists, etc. These minor injuries can be fully recovered the next day as long as you sleep.

There was even a time when I was sparring and a rib was accidentally broken by Garcia, the strongest boxer in the boxing gym. It only took three days for him to basically recover.

In addition, his sensitivity to crises is much stronger than that of others. He wonders if it is because of the fusion of two souls.

After more than two months of training, Hardy's physical fitness, endurance, fighting ability, and fighting awareness have been greatly enhanced.

When he was sparring with Garcia yesterday, it only took him three minutes to beat the guy until he couldn't get up; his eyes were black and his mouth was bleeding.

Hardy has become the strongest boxer in the boxing gym. The coach advised Hardy to concentrate on boxing. He may become the best boxer in the United States in the future, and he can also make a lot of money.

Hardy thought for a while and finally refused. He has greater pursuits for the future, and he doesn't want to just be a boxer.

In addition to practicing boxing, he also occasionally practice shooting.

His marksmanship is already good, and the battlefield has cultivated his strong fighting qualities. He mainly practices the art of drawing guns.

When he was in the army, he met a guy from Texas who told Hardy that he had won the championship in a county-organized quick rifle competition. After the two became friends, he taught Hardy his best gun-drawing skills.

Hardy bought a second-hand Colt revolver for 45$, and the boss gave it a holster. He occasionally went to the wild to practice shooting, and if he was lucky, he could catch a game or two.

Hardy lived a very stable life, but the world did not stop. It moved forward vigorously, and countless major events happened every day.

On August 6, 1945, Little Boy exploded in Hiroshima, and on August 9, Fat Man exploded in Nagasaki.

On August 15, Japan announced its unconditional surrender. The instrument of surrender was signed on September 2, thus ending World War II. But this has nothing to do with Hardy, now he is just an ordinary American working as a tavern worker.
