Chapter 1: Alicia's Diary

As I look back on the many years I have been with my Ryu, I can hardly think of a day when I have not been grateful for this man. But tonight, as Ryu goes through another heart surgery, I cannot help but feel melancholy. A keen urge to look back at those years seems to grip me. With the rain falling against the windows, as I wait for the surgeon to come out and announce that my Ryu is going to be fine again, I think, this would be a perfect moment to think back on the past. One might say that heart surgery is no laughing matter and I should be on my knees praying for my husband but I know he will pull through. He has to. I won't forgive him otherwise and Ryu Long cannot see me angry with him!
