Chapter 16

I run out of the room, running down the stairs and rushing past my father who was by the stairs.

" Skylar ," Dean says to me as I touch the doorknob on the front door 

I look at him then look at everyone else. I stop at Olivia.

" He's my brother," I say but it came out as more of a whimper

I look at dean and he just throws me his keys as he sighs.

I catch them and open the front door.

I open his car and drive out the relatively tiny driveway. The house was what looked like a simple two-story family home and was hidden since it was surrounded by woods. It was the first house to be seen for miles and I'm guessing it was built by my dad for this purpose alone.

I take out my phone which was given to me by Dean for protection as we were getting here and I tried to see if I could see how far away we were from home.

No service.

I park the car on the side of the road and got out.

I turn and run into the woods. I search for his too familiar scent but nothing comes up until I go in deeper.

I see him sitting by the edge of a hill.

He senses me and turns around.

He looks pitiful. Poofy and red eyes and his hair was no longer styled and neat rather messy and shaggy. He looked completely disheveled.

He takes off the sweatshirt he was wearing and gave it to me as I changed back.

I put it on and sit next to him.

We stay there in a comfortable silence until I try to break the silence

" Jer-"

"Please don't."

"Jeremy." He sighs

" I don't want t-"

"I know. and we don't have to but we are going to have to go back sooner or later"

"Let's do later," he says as he lays back and looks up at the sky

" She's gone."

" I know."

" She's-" his voice breaks and I hear his muffled cries behind me.

I furrow my brows

" She- she's in a b-better place," I say a small sob coming out

" I know you don't believe that."

" I'll always be here. I'll always be by your side. We've been at each other's side since the moment we were conceived and I won't stop now."

" That's nasty to think about, Sky."

" Shut up," I say as we both cried, me looking over the small hill and looking forward and him looking up and his arm around his face trying to cover up his cries.

" Are yall done?" Dean says from behind us

" Let's go, come on," I say getting up and giving my hand to Jeremy.

We follow Dean back to the house

" Where's my car?" he asks as we were walking

" Somewhere over there," I say pointing to our far left

"K," he says sighing

We go back into the house and everyone is running around getting everything ready.

" We're leaving. It's not safe to stay here long. It's better if we go home where our people are." I nod and a few seconds later Dean pulls us into a truck and we all start driving away. There were about 3 cars and we were in the middle.

"Where-"

" She's safe." I nod and sigh as I close my eyes for a few minutes before jumping from the seat.

" You okay there, Princess?"

" I'm fine. It was just a nightmare." I say and look out the window. I look to my side to Jeremy and he was doing the same with tears in his eyes.

I sigh.

" What do you think they'll do next?" I ask Dean

" We killed a lot of them back there so they'll probably regroup."

"Hmm" I'll kill them. I'll kill them all.
