8 Battle

His ability was called Intimidate. That was the first bit of information that poured into his mind when he urged on his spirit ring ability.

It wasn't a particularly glamorous name. To be honest, it kinda made him sound like some sort of gangster.

Nonetheless, the ability was a pretty good one.

Whenever Lin Feng attacks while using this ability, any opponent within 10 ranks above himself will be stunned for a second.

Above that, the enemy will be slowed quite a bit, but below…

How long did the original Za Warudo last for again?

Now wasn't that completely fair and balanced?

Now a second may seem like a measly amount of time, but in actuality, it was actually pretty devastating in a battle.

One second… even half a second could mean the difference between life and death for even just low level Spirit Masters like him.

That wasn't all however. His ability had a secondary effect.

His attacks would gain a 20% boost in explosive strength and speed whenever he used Intimidation.

You know what, this ability was actually completely broken…

But Lin Feng completely approved of it.

The dream of becoming overpowered wasn't going to be far away with this!

Muahahahaha.

Checking his status screen, Lin Feng was surprised to find out that the spirit rings weren't being displayed on it.

That was pretty disappointing to him to be honest.

It meant that grinding to age up spirit rings probably wasn't going to be a thing for him with status points.

For now that is…

Letting out a soft hurrah, Lin Feng walked out of the door of his dorm room in a particularly cheery mood.

"Lin Feng!"

A loud shout caused Lin Feng to jump as his martial spirit appeared in his hands.

In a burst of speed, his spear pierced through the air, a sharp whoosh sounding out as it did so.

The person who had been approaching Lin Feng let out a shout in shock. However, he didn't stay still as a blood red curved blade appeared in his hands.

Clang

The sound of metal resounded through the hallway as both sides were sent flying away from one another.

Lin Feng was forced to take two steps back while the other person was forced to take around five.

In Xianxia terms, this meant that Lin Feng won right?

"Dude! What the hell are you doing?!"

Blinking once, Lin Feng calmed himself noticing that the voice was rather familiar.

Taking a good look at the person who he had attacked, he found that it had actually been his friend Xie Yue!

And at this moment, he looked absolutely livid.

Unsummoning his spear, an apologetic look appeared on Lin Feng's face. "Ahh, sorry. I thought you were someone else."

"But no one else talks to you other than me…"

Wow that hurt, but it was a very good point.

Lin Feng smiled wryly as he scratched the back of his head. "It was really just an accident. I didn't mean it."

And Lin Feng really meant it.

He was still extremely high strung after constantly being in danger for so long.

His sheer instincts kicked in and made him do something really stupid.

It seemed that he really needed to learn some self-control in these next few days.

A sigh emerged from Xie Yue's lips as an exasperated expression formed on his face. "Nevermind then. Just don't do that again."

Before Lin Feng could answer, Xie Yue continued.

"Now seriously, where were you dude? You need to go see the teachers now! You've been gone for days!"

"Days?!"

"Four days to be exact!"

Lin Feng was actually shocked at this. His sense of time inside the Tutorial had become rather blurred after his hundredth attempt.

He knew that he had spent a lot of time inside, but the most he thought that he had spent was one!

Frightening! He would really need to manage his time if he wanted to go into the Tutorial into the future!

"Hey, c'mon follow me. You're lucky that you're back today. Any later and you would have been expelled."

Xie Yue's voice snapped Lin Feng out of his thoughts as he gave a curt nod.

With Xie Yue leading the way, Lin Feng followed him to the principal's office.

And oof.

Lin Feng got a really bad caning session from that guy, leaving him with really sore buttocks.

At least his endurance went up quite a bit though. That was always a plus in his book.

— — — —

"Xie Yue, can we have a spar?"

Lin Feng's sudden question caught Xie Yue off guard as he looked at him with a weird expression on his face.

Class had ended for the day and Lin Feng had obtained quite a bit of Int and experience for Observation from studying as well.

In fact, Int had managed to gain one level with all the catching up that he had to do to catch up with the syllabus.

Don't let the fact that Douluo 1 was set in a pretty medieval setting fool you. The syllabus that they were studying here would let most highschool students cry tears of blood.

Not that he did of course. He was a real man.

*cough* * cough*

Grinding was a never ending process and Lin Feng wouldn't ever stop for even a second.

"Spar? You serious mate?"

"Yeah."

"But I have a spirit ring though…"

"And?"

"I'm Rank 18…"

"So?"

Receiving this set of responses, a tick mark formed on Xie Yue's head. "Alright then. Since you're so confident, I guess I'll have to show you the immensities of heaven and earth."

With a sweep of his sleeves, Xie Yue walked off in a confident strut towards the training grounds.

Watching Xie Yue walk off, Lin Feng was left dumbfounded for a second.

Did Xie Yue…

Just fucking young master him?

Now putting that aside...

After this new upgrade, he was very likely stronger than most of his classmates. His spirit ring provided too much of an advantage.

However, what his true battle prowess would be without his spirit ring, now that would have to be tested.

That was why he challenged Xie Yue.

Since he was going to be renown as one of the Golden Generation in the future, he should be pretty strong even now right?

Xie Yue would be a perfect lab ra— training partner for Lin Feng to test out all of his skills and potentially improve some of them.

Perhaps he could level up his [Spearmanship] after this.

Arriving at the Training Area, Lin Feng found Xie Yue already waiting for him with his martial spirit already in his hands.

It was called the Moon Blade.

Pretty strong martial spirit, having very high attack power. With Xie Yue's innate talents, he would definitely bring out the most of this martial spirit in the future.

"You ready to rumble?" Xie Yue asked with a cocky grin on his face.

Hearing this, Lin Feng raised an eyebrow.

Where the hell did this guy learn to speak like this?

Oh well, that was something that could be found out another day.

A blood red spear appeared in Lin Feng's hands as he went into a low stance.

At once, his normally chill aura shifted into something far more cold.

Xie Yue's cocky expression calmed in an instant when he saw this. As a genius, he could tell that something drastic had changed about Lin Feng, and every bit of his instincts were blaring at him to be careful.

"Ready."

The moment those words were uttered, two figures disappeared from their spot.

A loud clang resounded instantly as both figures suddenly reappeared with their weapons clashing.

Xie Yue's expression was slightly grim whilst Lin Feng's face showed nothing.

Lin Feng swiftly made use of his dexterity as he deftly parried the Moon Blade in Xie Yue's hand.

As soon as he did so, he took a step back, putting Xie Yue at medium distance before starting his barrage.

Rapid pierces, thrusts and parries instantly put Xie Yue on the backseat as he had to keep retreating.

He attempted to disengage for a breather, but for some reason, despite knowing for a fact that Lin Feng had a lower cultivation that him, he couldn't escape!

His Moon Blade was meant for very close quarters combat. However, Lin Feng was skilled in keeping his distance at medium range, making maximum use of his spears length advantage.

Throughout all of this, Lin Feng was very pleased to hear a few notifications sound out, undoubtedly for his various stats and skills.

Nonetheless, he couldn't check the exact amounts since he had to keep his concentration.

Soon, Xie Yue got slightly frustrated at being put on the defensive. He hadn't been hurt physically, showing his immense skill, but he was still a child, and he was unwilling to lose.

"Moon Slash!"

A loud roar came from Xie Yue's throat as a bright red crescent moon was sent flying at Lin Feng.

He was left with his knees soft however, as this ability drained a large portion of energy reserves.

Obviously since this was just a sparring match, Xie Yue had lowered the offensive output of the attack. Nonetheless, it was still strong enough to win him the fight.

Lin Feng's [Danger Sensing] notified him of the dangers of this attack. If it hit him, he would definitely lose this battle now.

However, Lin Feng was undaunted. He had experience in dealing with flying projectiles like these.

Lin Feng's muscles swiftly relaxed as he casually used his spear to guide along the Moon Slash.

In a swift movement, the Moon Slash was redirected as he used it to boost himself towards Xie Yue.

Not expecting Lin Feng to dodge his attack so easily, Xie Yue, exhausted, was left defenseless as a spear stopped just before his throat.

"Do you surrender?"
