3 CHAPTER 3

No further interaction had been held between the two in the restaurant and both of them thought that they won't see each other again but both also knew that luck was never on their side. Wyatt knew that Cora had been glancing at him in the restaurant but of course he was not going to say anything. Travis had dropped Wyatt at his parents' house before leaving on his own since he had work to do

"Wyatt!" His mother, Jane enveloped up her son in a hug

Wyatt chuckled as he wrapped his arms around his mother, inhaling the familiar scent he had grown to love. Being back in his mother's arms made him forget about everything for a moment but we all know how cruel life can be sometimes

"Mum, what is all the noi-?" His sister came out "Why didn't you tell us you were coming?"

She jumped in Wyatt's arms as her brother chuckled

"It was supposed to be a surprise Liv," Wyatt replied with his voice muffled in Olivia's shoulder

"I missed you so much," She said as he set her back down

"Me too princess," Wyatt pinched her cheek

Wyatt laughed at her cute pout face and ruffled her hair which only amused him more after seeing her reaction one the other hand, Jane was smiling ear to ear seeing their kids together. The family went inside to get settled and the housemaids took Wyatt's stuff up to his bedroom ignoring his protests because it wasn't their job. Wyatt told his mum and sister everything about why he was here and how Travis had picked him from the airport this morning. Of course, ignoring the part where he had a run-in with Cora...literally. They talked about everything they had missed out on; soon it was evening and he had a long day tomorrow because he was starting his work immediately. He excused himself from dinner, first because he was really tired and just wanted to lay down. Second, he couldn't think straight for now. After taking a quick shower he lay down on his bed with his phone setting an alarm before he remembered to text Rachel replying to her. He kept his phone beside him, turned off the lamp and brought the duvet over him turning to his side

Wyatt knew that once all this is over he would have to go back to London and if he was being honest with himself he didn't want to. He hated how much he didn't like the atmosphere in London, he didn't like how being in that country had distracted him and healed him...once again. But this time it was different, maybe because it was Cora? Or maybe because the break up didn't make sense to him. But one thing that London taught him is that being heartless is better than being heartbroken and that not to step down without a fight or not to give in easily. This advice could be used in many ways but he had experienced it in full swing only in love

From all the breakups he had, Cora's was the hardest to get over though sometimes the dark-haired feels he isn't fully over her yet but then there are days where he hates her very much though it's more of dislike than hate. One thing was sure for Wyatt now. He had nothing to do with Cora anymore. He believed that he had nothing to do with love anymore, believing in love was a waste of one's time. The moment he had landed in London he had promised himself not to love anymore

This was the new Wyatt Logan. The one who lost all possible hopes in love

A striking ringing tore him from his thoughts and he picked up his phone to see that it was Travis

"Hey boss," the other greeted

"Your tone changed huh," Wyatt teased him

"Well I went from my best friend role to the employee role now," Travis chuckled "But boss, Mr Tang needs to know his place,"

"What did he do now?" Wyatt sat up sighing

"Warned us what else?" Travis sounded pissed "He is going to meet you in a few days though,"

"On what grounds? we haven't done shit to them till now," Wyatt asked keeping his cool

"He wants to have a meeting with you regarding some missing supplies and leaked documents," Travis informed "But I told him to fuck off,"

"I have trained you well," Travis could already see the other smirking "Well then have a goodnight,"

"You too boss," and Travis ended the call

Wyatt sighed as he pulled the duvet over his body and laid back down closing his eyes and trying to call it a night

"Mia I am telling you I saw him," Cora was pacing around Matt's living room "It was him,"

"Maybe you were just seeing things," Mia tried to calm her down

"I fucking bumped into him," Cora started pacing again

Mia was about to say something but was interrupted by Matt who let out a heavy sigh which shut her up

"She is right," Matt agreed with Cora

"How do you know?" Mia eyed him

Matt throws his phone to Mia who was sitting on the couch, taking the phone, her eyes scanned over what was written as Cora waited impatiently for her to explain

"Youngest entrepreneur and businessman Wyatt Logan had given a statement in an interview that he would be travelling to New York, his hometown, to expand his chain of businesses," Mia read out loud "Mr Logan had also confirmed that his next seminar would be held in New York's top university,"

"Which university is it?" Matt asked

"Don't tell me it's ours," Cora warned her

Mia looked from the phone to Matt and them to Cora laughing nervously which obviously gave out that it was their university

"It's not ours," Mia tried her luck

Cora threw a cushion on Mia's face as she huffed and got up to go back to her apartment across the hall

"I am sleepy, I am done with this shit for today," Cora bid a goodbye "I will see you guys on campus tomorrow,"

Mia hugged Cora before wishing her goodnight and they parted their ways, leaving Matt to enjoy his egg rolls. Cora threw open her apartment door and took a quick shower before jumping on her bed and scrolling threw her phone while different thoughts were running her head. It was not until a certain phone call arrives did she suddenly sit up in her bed with her heart suddenly beating faster. She hadn't gotten a call from this number for a week and she wasn't very fond of this person anyway. For a minute all Cora did was stare at the phone not wanting to pick it up but she knew that picking up would be less painful than ignoring it

"H-hello?" Cora stammered "Kai?"

"When are you going to return my money?" Kai's heavy voice filled her ear

"You said if I left Wyatt alone you would make the debt less," Cora's defeated voice could be heard "and that you would give me more time,"

"Wyatt was just a part of my plan, didn't I tell that your only mine?" kai gritted out "I want my payment by Friday,"

"But that was not the agreement," Cora protested "I had time till the next month,"

"Not anymore," Kai replied angrily

"Kai please I need more time," Cora pleaded him "I don't have the large sum of money right now,"

"That's not my problem," Kai replied "Darling,"

Before Cora could say anything else, the line was cut and she threw her phone across her bed in frustration but she was lucky that it landed on the couch. Cora just felt disgusted by herself at the moment, especially when Kai called her 'Darling'

Who is Khai?

Well, he was a person who Cora hates wholeheartedly. She never knew that one could hate someone so much as how she hates Kai. Kai is a person who no one would dare mess with but during the past circumstances, Cora was stupid enough to believe him and got trapped between her father's business partner's son who was obsessed with her. Cora didn't notice it at first but then when he started behaving strangely did she notice.

Because of a business deal with Kai's father, Cora was forced to deal with him and she hadn't told Wyatt anything about him since she didn't take it was a big deal. But one day when Kai's father had given a large sum of money to her father, did Kai started imposing his power over her. And over time, she started getting threats from him, saying to leave Wyatt or he would make sure to ruin his father's business and hurt Wyatt. Or either he would humiliate Cora in front of every one about her past since his family was incredibly rich and could easily take the media under their control.

So to keep everything intact she had to agree with Kai's terms even if it meant killing her own happiness. It broke Cora when Wyatt had left her apartment screaming and crying but she knew that she couldn't do anything. Cora laid down back on her bed, tears streaming down from her eyes in anger. Like all the nights before this one, Cora was wrapped in her duvet and silently cried herself to sleep

Wishing that her life could be back to normal or at least be less fucked up than it already is
