2 Chapter Two

There was a musk in the air that bothered Asher. The smell was something he was supposed to be used to but it made him gag. Asher Graham was a military brat. Growing up with a father always on the move. Now it's his turn. Many people thought he was too soft. He thought they were wrong.

When they mean soft, they meant by his features and personality. Asher has dark hazel eyes and chestnut hair. He isn't exactly the buffest either. Now, in terms of personality, Asher is humble. He is quiet and respectful.

"Hey Asher, buddy. What's up, my br0ski?" A guy with sandy blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and freckles said. His name is Tyler Hayes.

"Nothing much, Hayes. Just getting ready. You know how the general wants us to come and eat. 'Communicating with family is important.'" Asher put quotations at the end and rolled his eyes. He didn't really like the other guys. They always thought they were better and more responsible even though they clearly didn't give a rats crap about doing their job seriously.

"Awe. Graham, you know how I hate being called by my last name," Tyler pouted.

Asher only shook his head. Calling people by their last names was something they were trained to do.

"Alright men," a loud voice boomed. "Let's go eat and act like friends instead of soldiers ready to die." It was General Reyes. He was an absolute tank and nobody could tell Asher otherwise.

"Come on, Ash! When we get there, we are getting you a Pikachu plush," Tyler stated as he pushed Asher. Asher followed in silence.

Everyone got in their trucks and rolled out. As they were on the road, something hit Asher. He looked up, startled. He then saw Tyler trying to contain laughter.

"Tyler… did you throw something at me?" Asher asked him with a suspicious look.

"Noooo…." Tyler rolled his eyes while he had a huge smile.

"Hmm... I don't know, Tyler. I think you threw something at me."

"Naw. Why would I do that, br0ski? Besides, it was Josh," Tyler looked over at one of the guys who was on their phone.

"What?" Josh looked up when he had heard his name.

"Didn't you throw something at Asher?" Tyler winked at him.

Josh frowned and looked at Asher. "No. I did not throw anything at Asher."

"Ugh! Josh, why did you have to ruin the fun!?" Tyler exaggerated.

"Listen, kid. I ain't going to take the blame for something that I didn't do. Now leave me alone."

"Tyler. You need to grow up!" Another guy looked at him. "You're never going to get a girl if you keep acting like a child."

"Hey! Leave him alone. He was joking. And he does have a girlfriend. You should mind your own business, anyways," Asher told the guy off.

"Thanks, buddy. I owe you one," Tyler rubbed his neck.

"They are right though. As your friend, I agree that you need to calm down," Asher looked at Tyler, seriously.

"Fine, br0ski. Although you need to excite up. You are a little bland."

"What? Did you just say 'excite up?'" Asher couldn't contain a smile. "Tyler, you numbskull. That's not a thing."

"Haha. At least I made you smile. You've been down since we got back to the states." Tyler smiled at him.

"Yeah. It's been tough lately. I just… I'm glad you can make me smile." Asher then looked out the window.

"You know what? I have a feeling something good will happen today. For you." Asher heard Tyler say a little more calmly and quietly.

As they pulled up to the mall, Asher had finally found what Tyler had thrown at him. It was a crumpled piece of paper with a smiley face on it. When Tyler wasn't paying attention, Asher threw it as hard as he can at Tyler.

"What!?" Tyler whipped his head and looked at Asher who had a huge grin and said: "Payback."

  "Whatever." Tyler only smiled back.

As they were walking, Asher saw a girl running towards the mall. He ignored her and walked along. Moments later, he felt someone run into him.

Asher looked down to see the same girl that was running. Asher reached down and grabbed her arm to pull her up. But as he was doing so, he couldn't help but hear Tyler. "Told you something good would happen."

Asher shook off what Tyler said and looked at the girl. "Are you alright?"

The girl looked up at him with wide sparkling green eyes and an open mouth.

She stared at him and smiled widely.

She put the peace sign up and said, "Yep!"
