11 The Airport

We hit the road at 1700. We were travelling back to the airport."There was a lot of food in the lounge, I think", Higson said. He was injured a lot in that mansion. He is recovering but slowly. Almost everyone was injured there. I myself have a few bullet wounds which I got stitched up by Texas.

We reached the airport by 1830. We walked to the lounge and ate almost all the food that was kept as stock or was just lying in the kitchen. We all had loads. "So are we going to umm... go to Botorwa now?", Sam asked. "I think we all should just sleep on these comfortable couches tonight. What about you guys?", Vadar asked. "I'm staying here tonight.", I said.

We all slept the whole evening because everyone was tired and needed rest. I got up at 2130 and walked to the railing in the lounge and looked down to the shops and and the mess made of it. It looked as if thieves had robbed the shops, well we had also exactly done that, robbed a kitchen for food. It was dark outside the airport on airstrip, but there were some LEDs still working. I still don't understand how this place is still running, where is it getting power from? Its already been 2 days since the Coup.

"Hi", someone with a sweet voice said as she tapped my shoulder. "We always wake up before everyone else.", she said as I turned my head to see Texas leaning on the railing.

"Yeah... I guess.", I said. She chuckled. "Don't you wonder how this place is still receiving power?", I asked.

"Hmm, now that you mention it, it does seem suspicious", she answered.

Just then I heard a blast and a few windows shattering. "What the hell?!", I exclaimed. "I will go get a gun, let's go check that out.", Texas said.

She returned a moment later with a handgun and a shotgun which she passed on to me. We cautiously walked down the stairs to the ground floor where we could see some flashlights coming through the blasted windows. "Someone is coming", Texas whispered. "Not someone, there are many on them", I said.

There were heavy footsteps, red-dot lines flashing around, green LEDs running around the floor, walls and ceilings of the airport. "The military", Texas said. They looked trained, like professionals, so yeah probably were military."What should we do?", Texas asked.

"We should wake everybody up, preferably sneak out of the airport and get to a nearby town", I said.

We sneaked back to where everyone was sleeping. "Sam, wake up Sam!", I whispered in Sam's ears. He mumbled something then rolled over to sleep."Sam you've to wake up or we all will die", I whispered sharply in his ear.

"DIE?!Who's gonn...", he yelled grabbing me. I pushed my hands on his mouth, interrupting him to silent him. "Sh... sh.. sh... there's military in the airport wake everyone up we gotta get out of here.

Everyone except Vadar woke up."Wake him up!", Higson whispered in urgency."He won't, at least I don't think we can wake him up... we'll have to carry him.", I said.

"Sam grab his left leg, I'll get the right, Higson get his head", I ordered.

We started walking awkwardly carry Vadar, slowing and awkwardly...

"Wait up... where are we headed exactly?", Texas asked as she was in the front.

"Outside the airport now, we'll think where after we start driving", I said.

"But who's gonna drive, Vadar is out", Higson said.

"I could, I mean I have driven before, but I don't have a driving license.", Sam said.

"No guys, I mean, we are on the second floor, and that elevator is the only way I know how to get down, if you know another way please lead us", Texas said.

"Oh no...", Sam said.

"What hap... ", I said as I heard heavy footsteps,"They're still on the ground floor, but they have reached the elevator, we've to find another way"

After walking for a while we found a map, but it was of the country, so we went on, found another map, this one was of the routes take by the aircrafts, another of the States, after a lot of walking and Vadar waking up in between, we found the main floor plan in a kitchen."I don't wanna know what its doing in a kitchen of a restaurant", Higson said.

So there were two elevators, an escalator and 3 stairs which were to the first floor. One staircase was the closest to us so we headed towards it.

"This, this somehow looks suspicious, how come they still haven't managed to catch up to is yet, if they hadn't found us yet, they must have been through all around the airport by now... ", Sam said, kind of lost in his thoughts.

"Sam what are you trying to say here?", Vadar asked.

"To be careful, extremely careful, this could be a trap, we should use the escalator, because it would already be moving, so us moving won't look suspicious, or out of place.", Sam suggested.

We headed to the escalator with caution."I see them... there are two guys standing in front of the entrance of the airport... how do we get out now?", Higsom says.

"There's a few back exits, we need to get to the ground floor first.", Sam said.

We all crouched down and walked towards the escalator, stood on it, got down to the first floor, turned left to go around and use it again to get to the ground floor... Higson was at the back and Texas at the front...

Just as we were about to turn left again, 2 guys swang the butts of their gun, Texas was hit, Vadar was too shocked to move, Sam took his pistol and shot the first guy, the loud noise of the gun echoed in the airport, alerting all of them.
