DAY ONE IN THE PAST

"As seen lately on amateur videos uploaded via different social media websites. Strange lights are being spotted in the sky all across the Globe. First, one was believed to be seen in the heart of Tokyo Japan. They look like stars except for the fact that they are indeed moving in a circular pattern. United nations held a worldwide press conference discussing this seemingly global threat. The idea of this being orchestrated by another nation possibly China or North Korea had been considered nothing more like a false allegation since . . ."

The news continues to play in the background. As Amber, a teenager with a short reddish hair watches attentively on her laptop. Suddenly a notification appeared on her screen that she has a new message from Robert. She clicked on it and the messenger tab opened up their conversation.

Robert: Hey! Do you see the news?

Amber: nope I'm watching anime. Darn it, of course, I'm watching the news. who won't?

Robert: cum on now no need to be rude. anyways babe. How are you?

Amber: I'm still breathing can we just video chat? thia keyboard is killing me...

Robert is a typical European looking teenager. Brown hair. pointy nose.

so Robert shared the video clip and Amber played it immediately...

It was a blurred video. And you can tell it was taken from a helmet dash cam. You can hardly hear the men talking to each other but you can tell they are speaking in English. Soon you will notice the other person in a full astronaut suit as he jumps slowly and floats from time to time who seems to be repairing something on their ship. Suddenly an explosion. The vision of the camera turns around quickly. Became more blurred and dark. Then the video became clear. The man wearing the dash cam seemed to be lying in the floor. Some wires hanging carelessly from their ship. Then a tall creature appeared. With long limbs. Long neck. Oval hairless white head with three eyes. The creature slowly walks towards the man with the dash cam. You can hear the heavy breathing of the man. He even looked around to possible grab anything that could be used as a weapon. But nothing is to be found. He faced the creature again. It is already upon him. Its Huge white foot with claws is almost touching his shoulder plate. The camera then focused on the head of the creature looking down on him. "Fuck you!" He said. The creature slowly opened its huge mouth suddenly appearing below its eyes. The lining almost reached the back of its neck exposing its huge mouth filled with about 30 pairs of razor sharp teeth with almost the same size of a concrete nail.

"Oh God" the man exclaimed. Then the creature dashed its head towards him. You can hear his suit being shredded while he struggles hopelessly trying to shake the beasts away. Then you can hear blood squirting as the screen itself turns red. The man shrieked like hell. Bones crackles. And his voice suddenly turned into a voiceless yell. Then the video ended.

"Babe ? are you okay?"

Amber was speechless. You can see by her brown eyes how terrified she is.

"Babe! Put yourself together!"

"ahhh yes of course.. but what is that thing?"

"aliens what else! Remember what our astronomy professor is always bringing up to class? Yes. Guest, he is right. That old nerd"

"oh yeah"

"anyways I found out in a forum that these creatures are overly sensitive to too much light. they seem to hate it. Remember in the video? right after the explosion one of the space guys fired a flare gun at the creature and it runs away like crazy. Did you notice?"

"actually no.."

"I can't blame you, yeah you need to put the video in slow-mo to notice that. sorry, but please take a lot of led flashlight or flareguns with you. or something like that yeah?"

"ahh yeah okay thanks for the heads up Rob"

" Always welcome beautiful, hey! Listen! We are gonna get through this okay? We will see each other soon! trust me okay?"

"yes I do, I will wait for you"

"Love you, Rob, ill keep in touch"

Amber then shut the laptop off and wondered how did everything escalate so quickly. "Amber! " " Dad?" " Come down quick! " " Ughhhh what is it now Dad I packed my things and check it the tenth times now. What more do you need me to . . . " her mouth went wide open to her surprise as she stares on the door in front of her as she was going down the stairs.

"Hey, lazy head? How's it going?" A smiling man in his 30's was standing in the door. "Norman!!" She almost jumped from the stairs to hug the man waiting for her. The man hugged her back and kissed her ears. "I miss you too little sister, I'm here now, I'm here for you." "I'm so glad that you are here son!" Mr. Green said as he watched his children finally seeing each other after almost a decade. Tears are almost pouring down his cheeks but he wiped it out quickly for his children might make fun of him if they see how emotional he is. "I thought at a situation like this it is more impossible for you to be around, but it's nice to have you around Norman! We miss you so much!" Norman turned to his mother and hugged her too. Norman was wearing an army cap with the U.S. Marines logo on it. He was carrying a huge marine backpack and his camo shirt fits his well-built body even a ten-year-old will already guest that he is a soldier. A marine to be exact.

"Well on emergency situations like this. I can certainly find a way to be with you guys." Norman said while putting down his backpack and his gears. Amber still can't believe her eyes. Her one and only beloved brother finally home. She forgot all her fears and worries and it was replaced with joy and feel secured. She simply looks upon him like a child looks up to its favorite superhero.

Its almost a quarter to 9 in the evening and the family is almost finishing dinner talking over their plan to survive the seemingly alien invasion. When suddenly a chopper can be heard closing in. "Attention citizen of Springfield. Exactly one hour from now we will be giving out additional supplies for your force evacuation, further instructions will be provided along with your rations! Keep an eye for our emergency broadcasting system on your tv or radio. We will keep you posted! God bless our nation!" The recording from the army chopper can be heard repeating over again until it fades away.

Amber showed her brother the video from Robert. "Yes, to be honest, I had seen that video. Where did your boyfriend get that? That is highly classified, and yes too much light seem to bother them don't worry I have specialized flashlights with being at the truck enough for the four of us." "I'm scared" "Hey don't be! We can get to the bunker in Wisconsin, It is safe there! I assure you. Good thing for us was just around 12hours away. So we can do this alright?" Norman assured her while holding her shoulders. "You still know how to shoot right? Amber nodded. "Here take this" Norman handed over an M9 Beretta pistol to her. "15 rounds keep it locked unless emergency okay?" "of course roger that sir" She smiled at him. As she recalls some memories when her brother first taught her how to shoot. It was one of the coolest memories she had as a child. "I remember how better I can shoot than you big bro " "Ahahaha really? what makes you think I did not let you win huh?" Both of them almost laughed when sounds of jet fighters passing by caught their attention. Then a far away explosion. "What is that?" Amber wondered. "Don't worry about it focus okay? we had our rations and instructions. We are good to go. Let's do this." "okay"

"Dad! Mom! all set! Let's go!"

"Let me take the wheel, for now, Norman," Mr. Green said. "Sure dad here!" He threw the key to his father then they all went inside his truck. "How the hell did you afford this ranger buddy?" "Ahaha focus on your driving dad. I don't want you hurting this bad boy. It's not even completely paid"

The four of them then went ahead and start their way towards the safe zone.
