The Local Market

The local market was bubbling with activities. Daryn stood in a shed watching as people trade. "Its been a while i saw something like this". He said to himself. Then someone walked to his shed that displayed fur coats.

"I would like to trade for your fur coat" the customer said. A chubby looking fellow. Pot bellied. 'A rich merchant' Daryn thought to himself observing the mans demeanour.

"Sure. What do you offer?" Daryn asked.

"A quater bag of gold coins for all of them" the merchant replied.

"Sorry. That won't do. These fur coats cost more than that in the market. A merchant should know this. Just three of these fur coat cost half a gold bad not to say the whole five"

The merchant eyed Daryn. He knew the lad was right. The furs were exotic afterall which could only be gotten from Azra's wild life in the deep jungles but he was not going to give up easily. He suddenly said.

"Thats not true. This coats don't cost up to a bag of gold coins don't cheat me. Besides how am i sure these are not of low quality that you want to use to get extra gain"

Daryn smiled at the man. "You are a merchant. I am sure this i not your first time in the market so you can point out the differences. So i'll like to know if you are interested or not" Daryn said still smiling at the man but his voice was firm.

The merchant touched the furs checking their textures then put his hand in his sack and took out a bag of gold coins.

"A bag of gold coins for all five of your fur coats" the merchant said.

"It won't do. A bag and half of gold coins is the least i can go" Daryn persisted

The merchant frowned. He wanted to buy the fur coats and Daryn knew this. He would not have spent this much time pricing if he didn't but he did not want to spend much on it. This was his last trade in the market today and he wanted to still have some gold coins to go home with.

"A bag and a quater?" The merchant asked putting the quarter on the table.

"Its not enough" Daryn said simply.

Frowning, the merchant brought out a half bag. Removed the quater on the table and gave Daryn the one bag and half.

"That should do it."

Daryn gave the merchant the five fur coats and the merchant left. With the shed now empty of goods to sell, he closed up. He scanned the market.

"Where has she gone to?" Daryn asked nobody in particular.

He opened the shed with Darla this morning. She picked the spot they would sell their goods saying it would attract them to potential customers easily than going deep into the market. Then she said she was going to see what she could buy with the coins she had while he sold their goods at the shed.

Not so suprised, he had sold the entire goods by high noon. The shed was empty. Darla's chosen spot close to the market entrance was perfect.

Though this wasn't the only entrance. Situated at a low plateau, the local market was wide enough to accommodate two hundred at max four hundred shed and shops for the locals to trade and at trading hours the market ground had a buzzing number of almost six hundred people trading or even more. A setting like that would need fluid entry and exit of people.

It was definitely a trading hot spot. People from different parts of Azra come to this market to buy and sell. This local market was one of Azra's well known trading zones and the locals benefit from it.

With access to more goods from different parts of Azra, it was not hard to find goods only gotten from the specific parts of Azra in this townlike village.

What the village lacked though was numbers. Situated at a mountainous region, visitors have less interests to live here. To get to the village alone.

Daryn stayed by the shop stand and waited until Darla would return so they could head back home. He already missed the jungles.

Daryn hadn't waited long when he saw Darla walking towards him with things she had bought from the market.

"Has it been long since you closed?" She asked

"Not that long. I sold the furs rather quickly. What have you got there?"

"Mmm....i just got a few necessities with the little bag of coins i had" she dropped the bundle she was holding next to the shop stand.

"Aha! How much did we make from the furs?"

"A bag and half. Was not easy though" Daryn said.

Darla nodded in understanding as she checked the bundle she had. Making sure what she bought were complete. That she hadn't lost any on the way.

Daryn stretched. "If we don't have anything left to buy, lets go to the inn"

"I still need to buy somethings....but i get those later i need to eat something at the moment"

"Good thing i finished selling the furs early"

Daryn took the bundle from her as they headed to Gorav's inn.

When they got to the inn they both walked straight to the restaurant and ordered something to eat. The restaurant was not filled as it had been the night before they arrived. Which meant not everyone had closed from their respective jobs in the village. Now the restaurant just had a few people eating their lunch.

After eating they went to their respective rooms to rest. Darla said she would be going to the market later in the day to buy the things that still remained for them to get.
