9 Mortal god

Daryn spread his legs on the grass covered ground revelling in the feeling of its comfort. He watched the slow flowing river before him. To his side sat Selene no longer in her divine form but still beautifully serene nonetheless and to his other side led to the woods though not as thick as the ones in Azra's jungles. This ones just felt extra mysterious and calm. Obviously there was more magic present here he thought. And behind him was the palace. Selene's humble palace.

The environment was peaceful and homely. He would have enjoyed it better if he wasn't thinking about what Selene had just revealed to him. That Poseidon was his first father....his true father and she was his first mother.....this was crazy. He had not fully absorbed the fact that there was a worl where gods actually existed and governed and now his supposed first mother had found him. It was all confusing.

He thought deeply on what Selene had told him wondering if she was lying in the details. But she had no reason to. She did not need him and if she had bad intent towards him or wanted him dead, he would have been long gone. Without trace. So that was not a reason at all.

His head began to ache because of over thinking and he felt sleepy. Daryn groaned

'I must have racked my brain to much'

"You are tired Daryn. You need rest my dear"

"I'll take you back"

Selene led him to the front of her abode. To the smooth clearing where the winged studs where waiting. They both mounted the chariot and took off. When they left Selene's plane, Daryn was already dizzy from sleep and the flight wasn't helping.

A minute and half later they were in Azra's jungle again. At the banks of the stream. Daryn feared that time must have passed since his stay at Selene's island. Darla would be worried.

"Don't fret about the time lost. Time hasn't moved since we left". Selene said

Daryn looked at her with surprise. It was not that he did not understand her, he definitely could. What surprised him was the fact that it was possible. He only nodded still feeling sleepy and confused. He took the filled bucket of water waiting for him and began to walk to the shed. He looked in Selene's direction one more time on the chariot.

"I'll come to see you again my child. I assure you. If not face to face, we will meet in your dreams. I have a lot to explain to you to leave you easily. Go rest. Your memories will answer the rest of your doubts" she told him then the moon rays fell on the chariot and the winged studs flew away.

Daryn continued his walk to the shed quietly. When he got into the shed, he met Darla's glad smile.

"That was fast. You didn't take long."

What the?. I belive an hour has passed since i left if not two.

"Hey its late. We have training tomorrow"

She took the bucket frrom him and placed it in the kitchen corner. Then she went to her closet to take out her sleeping furs. Daryn took the bed still absorbing the fact that he was a demi god incanate

As he fell into sleep, the dreams came. His memories.

With the help of Hecate. Selene gave birth to her son. Her gift. He was supposed to be her gift to the mortal world because he was denied a godly status and forced to become a mortal. Zeus had denied this. Zeus judged that if the boy was to be a god, he might spark a connection between both parents. That he will become the bridge. Not willing to comprise the natural order, Zeus commanded him mortal.

There was turmoil in the sea. Poseidon had demanded his son be made immortal. He raged but Zeus had made the final judgement. Poseidon was sour. The seas displayed his rage and every creature in the seas danced to it and the earth was also shaken by it. The sea deities, councel men in Poseidon's court tried consoling the mighty sea god but to no avail.

Amphritriete saw the display of affection towards the illegitimate child and jealousy filled her. She sent assasins to elimate the child on the little island Selene stayed with the child.

She had planned to take his mortal live when his mother Selene would ride across the skies that evening to perform her duties as the moon goddess.

And when Selene had left, her assasins hunted the little baby boy but Selene had put him to sleep and hid him. The assasins searched the whole island that night but never found him. They gave up and returned to Amphritriete to tell her they couldn't find the child.

The queen of the seas raged and punished them for not bringing the mortal child to her but she assigned them to search the island every three months for the child.

Selene noticed this the next time they searched the island. Wanting to save her child, she used her divine powers to cut through space and time and took her baby to a world abandoned by the gods.

She cursed him to be reborn each time he dies so she could find him anytime she came in search of him in the living world. Then she was certain Amphritriete could not reach him.

The separation of the mother from her child filled her with sorrow.

The moon darkened. She cursed all sun gods to sleep preventing them from riding the skies. Bringing darkness to the world. Selene killed the assasins that prevented her from having her time with her baby boy and spilled their blood into the sea. When Selene was asked why she caused so much chaos she told them her child had been taken from her.

At that comment, Everyone believed the mortal god dead. To percify her, Zeus gifted her the island as her divine abode. Granting her solitude and promised her no one would make claim to it.
