Information . One word , many meanings . Information is the process of conveying data from one Person A to another Person B . Information is also the very data that is being conveyed from that very same Person A to the other very same Person B .

Information is important . More important than many would like to admit . That ' many ' falls under the 97% of the world population who take information for granted and are satisfied with what they get to know or do know on a day to day basis .

The rest of the 3% ? Well , they are the special ones . They gather the information that is right under the eyes of the major 97% and is being ignored , and make use of it for their own profits .

This 3% gains complete monopoly over all the information it gathers and if that information is somehow important for , for example , the survival of the whole human race , that 3% now controls the fate of humanity .

That's exactly what happened in the beginning of the magic era .

26 July , 2020 .

A date to be remembered as the start of the era of magic and absolute slaughter .

On this very fateful day , the scientists of a certain large scale company found deposits of a new ore which they simply named 'X' for the time . It was a blue colored , diamond like ore , which shines like a small star , but isn't as blinding as one .

It was discovered that no matter how many times a piece of Mineral X was broken into , the source of the luminescence could never be found . After several continuous tests , this mineral , which was nearly unbreakable as long as diamond wasn't used to break it , could be used to enhance items that it was used in the forging of .

For example , a knife . The very first item to be enhanced using Mineral X was a normal , everyday kitchen knife , which was able to cut diamond when a certain amount of force was exerted on it . This amount of force could be exerted by a normal human who tried to swing it using the limits of his or her strength . Of course , trained professionals had it much easier .

What the people of the time called the ' Era of Super Soldiers and Mechas ' had arrived . With the newly found Mineral X , they could enhance all sorts of items , like body armors , bullets , melee weapons and whatever the hell not .

The war situation started to change . With the secret deployment of these ' Mechas ' and ' Enhanced Fighters ' armed with the ' Equipment ' enhanced with Mineral X , there was no war that was simple , because the only enemy to them were more of themselves and with many of the rest of the big weaponry suppliers and others finding out , the enhanced Equipment became widespread in about 3 years .

From 26 July , 2020 to 25 July , 2025 and the whole world was filled with these equipment . Everybody could get them , because the big companies were ready to give them to more people . After all , the more soldiers one had the better .

All Equipment was monitored 24/7 by trackers and cutting edge technology with even notified the monitors when the Equipment touched blood .

Everything was going well .

There were wars everywhere , yes , but it was still much more peaceful .

The mortality rate was high , yes , but it was still much better .

That is until 26 July 2025 hit . That was the start of the reason why this era is now called ' The Era of Magic and Absolute Slaughter ' .

The world became a game on this day , as killing was now a daily occurrence .

As soon as someone used an equipment to kill someone from that day on , that equipment could not be forcefully removed from that person's body . It was bound to that person till he died .

A new discovery was made .

Anyone that had an Equipment bound on them can kill others who also have equipment bound on them to get stronger .

The increase in strength can be observed easily . Due to stronger organs and many more observable effects , killing was discovered to be a surefire way to have better bodies , which , hypothetically , can allow one to live longer .

All the rich and powerful swarmed towards ' X - Equips ' like moths to a flame . After all , who wouldn't want a longer life and more strength .

The more they swarmed to the ' X-Equips ' the more people died , after all , the strengthening didn't require just one or 2 people to be killed .

There was a pattern to it and the pattern required more and more people to be killed .

25 July 2030 .

' Levels ' as people called them , were then number of times a person had went through strengthening .

The companies which manufactured X Equips were obviously almost ruling the world . They could monitor anyone who had an X Equip and could thus also know the highest ' Level ' of the people .

Level 17 .

That was a terrifying number .
