8 New Laws

Samuel smiled warmly at him and collected the form. His eyes were filled with shock when it captured the slot for cultivation realm, Dao Flowering Realm.

"Fellow Daoist Colin, you are in the Dao Flowering Realm." His voice trembled a bit, even though he was a small realm above the man, he was still twenty years older than him.

Why didn't he doubt that the man was lying to him? How many people can lie while using the truth enticing ink? Besides, there is still the law to threaten them. You may not be scared of the cultivator in front of you but who was not scared of the law?

Raizel nodded, "I just broke through."

The man had a sad smile on his face. He had forgotten that the young man's master had died. It must have been extremely shocking to him, prompting him to break through. How lucky.

When his master had died, he had not broken through any small realm not to mention a major realm. He wished the old lady could return and die again, perhaps he might be lucky this time around.

"It all looks in order, Fellow Daoist Colin." He then chuckled, "When I saw Fellow Daoist Colin, I had a feeling that we would be good friends. How about I pay the registration fees for you and take you out for a nice meal. You are new in town; I know some really good places."

Raizel might not be adept in mundane affairs unlike his junior martial brother but he could still spot a talent scout if he sees one and this man was surely one. He wanted a normal life, not to be embedded in any fight for attention or cultivating resources. He was too old for that.

"How much is the fee?" He asked, deciding to ignore every other thing.

Samuel narrowed his eyes, "Is fellow Daoist rejecting my offer?" Although he was a civil service employee, he was still a Dao Flowering Realm cultivator.

"Yes, I already have a meeting with someone." He said, hoping that would throw the man off. He felt his hands itching but he controlled himself… a normal life...a normal life, he repeated to himself.

Samuel laughed loudly trying to push off the awkwardness that has now appeared, "Is that so, then I will meet a fellow Daoist later."

Raizel nodded and waited. The man didn't seem like he was willing to respond, "The fees?" He asked again. The service of this office was really atrocious.

"10 spirit stones." It was a fair registration fee, he fixed his eyes on Raizel as he waited for his reaction.

"That would be 12000 credits." He could recall Paul telling him that the rate was 120 to one.

Samuel nodded, many cultivators preferred to pay in credits so they could use the stones for cultivation. After Raizel paid, he placed the money Raizel dropped into a drawer.

He pulled out a brochure and gave it to him. "The recent laws for cultivators are in there plus a few things you need to know. But it would be best if you join an organization or a family. Tempest town don't have many jobs for cultivators. Here is my number, call me if you require anything."

Raizel nodded, a bit absent minded, before leaving at once. His mind was occupied. When he had brought out money to pay the man, he had discovered he had less than 50 notes left. He couldn't believe he would reach a point in his life where he would have less than 50 spirit stones.

He walked towards the direction of the restaurant he had eaten in the day before. He noticed people staring at him but this time they were not pointing their phones at him. That was good. He chose a seat near the window and a young boy soon walked up to him. He looked around a bit, it seems like that female waiter that wanted to call the police is not around.

The young boy smiled warmly at him, "Sir, what would you like to have?" He watched as the man with white hair focused intently on the menu, hesitation written on his face before he finally decided and said, "Braised meat noodles and soy milk."

The boy wrote it down and left. Raizel opened the brochure and began to go through it. Each law made his eyebrows lift even higher. When he placed the brochure down, he sighed, the world had really changed drastically.

The first law stated that murder was forbidden, killing a mundane was absolutely forbidden and can be punishable with crippling the cultivation or life imprisonment. If two cultivators have irreconcilable differences, they would first report to the negotiation officers before moving to the battle center. This law would be totally unfavorable to cultivators of the Dao of slaughter or the Dao of blood.

He continued to read up the other laws but he was completely distracted by the steaming food in the white porcelain bowl.

Inside the bowl were thin noodles with pieces of pale green white gourd dotted around and two big slices of reddish brown pork covering the top of the noodles, at the very top was sprinkled a handful of chopped green onions like a finishing touch to a vivid painting. The sweet aroma assaulted Raizel's nose, making him swallow.

He soon finished his meal and resisted the urge to order more bowls of noodles, he was a poor man now. As Raizel sipped his drink, he thought of what to do next. He had about 50000 credits left. Considering that he spent 6000 credits in the hotel, he needed to find a place to stay for the meantime before he headed to the capital.

After he scrolled his phone which he reluctantly brought out of his storage ring after admitting its importance and looking at the brochure, he found out he had very few things he could do to earn money, and even fewer in Tempest town.

The ever lucrative alchemy business was a no-go for him. His understanding of the Dao of fire was so low that he could only cast low level fire spells, for example to light a log or burn paper. Wood…His understanding of the Dao of Wood was in the same wavelength; neither had reached the Dao budding Realm. Let's not mention alchemy, he probably wouldn't be able to prepare a single herb.

He suddenly remembered the To-do list and he gritted his teeth. Alchemy was off the list and so was Artifact refining, cooking, growing herbs or raising demon beasts. He couldn't act as a bodyguard either to any rich young master, that would be too troublesome, he wasn't a good tutor either.

It seemed after sects were banned, there was a spike in Dao teachers, he couldn't do that either; he would slap the child to kingdom come if he was too slow.

He could only do one thing, craft talismans to sell. The image of his cold faced master standing behind him as he painstakingly crafted the Lunalamp talisman for the thousandth time with shaking hands appeared in his mind and he let out a fond smile.

Two girls who had been eating not so far away from him gasped. They had been watching the melancholic beauty since he came into the ramen shop.

The man had a face that was not destined to blend into the crowd. His skin was fair, incredibly translucent and spotless, akin to a jade sculpture or a person who had never seen the sun. His jawline was sharp with beautiful brown eyes hidden behind frame glasses.

However, there was a sense of alienation coupled with gloominess that made people want to stay away. That was why they did not dare go close but with this smile, it was like spring had finally blossomed, melting the gloominess into a kind of elegant nobility.

Elena and Clair looked at each other and stood up at once. Sooner had they taken three steps before the spring was gone and winter returned. They had a feeling that they should not come close, an alienation so strong they practically froze where they stood.

Raizel only gave them a glance before he continued with his deliberation. Should he sell them online, he saw various shops on his phone. You can craft the talisman and upload a photograph of it. If someone likes it, the person can buy it and then you deliver it to the person's address. A fascinating concept, no doubt, except it was just too complicated. Plus it was very unsafe.

He would rather go through the simpler route of renting a shop, which could double as his house, and selling some talisman. He still needed to consider many things, the cultivators around this place were too small so he needed to go uptown. Shops there would definitely be more expensive.

He needed to read up on the talisman used in this period of time and study their strokes. He needed to look at talismans stores and know how they sell and most importantly he needed to source for funds.
