6 CH.6

When he woke up the next day and finished his morning shower he woke up Lindsey and gave him two chores, to go through all the magic texts and be on-call setting up the interviews for Xander when he got out of school.

He made sure to get it across that it was all Xander who would be choosing who to higher and that he was only supposed to teach him how to treat his employees and get him use to being in charge.

After he got his point across he left to pick up the scoobies and see if they wanted to ride together. Since Buffy's house was closest he walked there to see if she was ready. " Knock, Knock"

The door opened to an older lady he could only assume was Buffy's mom" Mrs. Summers my name is Ryan I just moved in two doors down and I was wondering if Buffy needed a ride to school?"

Looking surprised she looked around for his car on the street and when she couldn't see it she asked:" Where is your ride if you're going to take her to school?"

" It's the impala in my driveway, I figured since she lives so close why drive when you can walk. I'm gonna head to Willows and Xander's next."

She starred at him for a second then yelled: "Buffy there's a nice boy here to take you to school."

After a minute there was a loud crash then the sound of footsteps. Finally Buffy appeared at the top of the stairs looking disheveled. " Ryan what are you doing here I figured you would've picked up Willow for school."

Looking at her Ryan couldn't help but smile when she reminded him of a confused chipmunk. He finally said:" I've decided to pick up the whole Scooby gang as today will probably be the last chance I get before everyone is to busy to ride together."

Seeing her questioning look all he said was "Ask Xander."

When they left he made a beeline for the car and hurried over to pick up Willow. She opened the door and wasn't expecting to see Buffy with him. Frowning a little he said:" Don't worry, after we pick up Xander I'll explain."

Trusting him she nodded and went to greet Buffy. Both of them sitting in the back chatting as they headed to Xander's house.

Hearing yelling and loud crashing Ryan went to the door by himself after convincing the girls that whatever is happening he could take care of it. Buffy almost didn't listen until he explained that it would probably hurt Xander's pride if he was saved by her from his own family.

She finally relented and waited in the car. When he knocked on the door the house went silent. The front door opened and a bruised and pissed off Xander was revealed.

" What's up Ry-man?"

Looking at him Ryn walked passed him to see a short, fat, drunk man sitting in a recliner snarling to himself. Sighing and shaking his head he turned to a skinny woman smoking a cigarette and acting like nothing is going on. He turned back to Xander and said: "Get your stuff your moving today, you don't need these kind of people around you when they treat you like this."

Xander nodded and turned his head in shame and went upstairs to pack. While he was gone, Ryan starred down the crappy parents and silently dared them to move or say anything. Slowly releasing a minuscule amount of power making them tremble without even knowing why they felt fear.

When Xander came down he asked his incubators for his legal records and anything he required for documentation then left with the scooby gang after packing all his stuff in the trunk of the car.

The ride to school was silent except the occasional quip from Xander. The day passed quickly for Ryan as by lunch he had several patent projects ready for Willows perusal. Three were for a crystalized micro processors that would increase the efficiency of a computer.

Another two were for usb drives and external hard-drives that could hold up to one hundred terabytes worth of data. The last one was for a LCD screen for monitors.

When he showed them to her she got so excited she forgot they were in public and kissed him before turning back to the papers. He asked her if she could think of anyway to improve them and after minute she said she would need a few days to look them over.

Agreeing with her answer he said:" Take all the time you need after your ready we'll take them to the patent office in LA and get them filed. I have something to tell you, why don't we head to the bronze tonight and I'll tell you there."

She smiled and replied:" Sure same time as last night?"

He nodded and smiled remembering last nights events. She reached forward and pinched his arm. " yeow " Rubbing his arm he looked at her and told her he'd meet her in class. Standing up he headed towards a small group of people holding band flyers.

Ryan asked: " Are you guys starting a band?"

The shortest guy said:" Yeah were the Dingoes Ate My Baby, I'm Oz, this is Sam and that's Devon. We're playing at the bronze later tonight."

Ryan smiled and pulled out a stack of sheet music:" Great this is perfect, I'll pay you a thousand bucks tonight if you'll play back up for these two songs while I sing."

Oz's eyebrows shot up at the mention of big money at there first playing gig." We'll take it. We can be ready at 7:30. Anytime after that's fine with us."

Ryan nodded:" I'll be there and ready by then make sure to practice and if all goes well I may have a place for you in my studio I'm having built here in town."

After the great start to his evening plans he went to the library to find Buffy. As soon as he walked in a crossbow bolt smacked into the door frame beside his head. " Damn Buffy watch it that almost hit me" He said smiling.

Buffy replies: " Oh shut you weren't in any real danger."

Ryan smiled before schooling his face and saying: " Can you go get Giles for me? He needs to hear what I'm about to say."

Looking at him for a moment she nodded her head and went to the librarian's office. When they both came back Ryan was holding a small box out for Buffy to take.

Ryan sighed:" You'll find that the vampire known as the master is no longer buried in a shallow grave in the graveyard. This is all that's left of him after I had his bones ground into dust. I mean whose bright idea was it to leave something like this buried in a graveyard filled with his followers consecrated ground or not."

Giles tried to keep a straight face when he said:" He was perfectly fine buried there. I performed the last rites and consecrated the grounds myself. How do you even know about this stuff?"

Buffy starred at the box in her hands shivering.

Ryan raised his eyebrows:" Really, then care to explain why not twelve hours later a group of vampires lead by a small child re-dug up the grave with there hands. And as far as knowing about this stuff as you call it, I lived in LA before this and they have an even wider verity supernatural beings running around there."

"CCC-Child, your must be referring to the anointed one, I believed him to be dead along with most of the vampires here. Dear lord he must have been trying to resurrect the master." Giles said while cleaning his glasses.

Buffy raised her head at that and looked at Giles" You told me he was dead, that he wasn't coming back, you didn't say he could be brought back."

Ryan sighed:" He's not now, there's not enough of him to bring back. I figured it might be cathartic for you to dump his ashes down the toilet or something. As for the anointed one I'll leave him to your very capable hands with a little reminder, Your one of the longest living slayers right now and you did it not by being stronger, faster or even smarter then the rest. You did it by trusting in your friends to back you up when you needed them most."

Leaving them to think on this Ryan headed to class to hangout with Willow for the rest of the school day.After school the Scoobies met at Ryan's car and headed home. When they reached their home street Ryan turned right and went the opposite way of their houses.

When they were about to say something he said:" One more surprise for all of you today."

Pulling into a two-car driveway he turned off the ignition and got out. " Xander grab your stuff out of the trunk. And welcome to your new home. The deed has been put in your name as has the truck inside the garage. Let me give you a tour!"

Heading inside the front door everyone was speechless at the site of a large foyer topped with a diamond chandelier. " If you don't like it you can probably get around 2.5 mill from it as a trade-off for another house depending on its price range. As for the rooms, it's a 3 room/3 bath with a hot tub jacuzzi combo in back. Sorry, the yard isn't big enough for a pool." Ryan apologized.

"Tha-Thanks I don't believe this! It's all for me?" Xander asked while Buffy and Willow stared slack-jawed.

Nodding Ryan said:" I had my uncle work it into the contract you signed last night. He informed me that should you wish to negate the contract you have until the end of the week before it takes effect. So be sure this is what you want. Most of your free time after school will be used studying and learning from your assistant. After your proficient, you'll be able to recruit your own team that will officially work under you in the Harrison construction company you signed for. I can't stress enough that this could set your career for the next three years. After you've learned enough all you'll be responsible for is safety and plan checks to see if it's structurally sound or to sign off on demolition jobs but that's at least a year away. Anyway, welcome home. It's furnished and the fridge and pantry are stocked with easy made nutritious food that I expect you to eat. I can't have an unhealthy foreman who can't do anything because he's always sick."

Heading for the door he heard Xander ask for the keys and he just tapped the box stuck on the wall next to the front door.

After half an hour the girls came outside from there exploration to find him in his car writing on some paper they assumed was homework.

" Are you two ready to go? I know it's a lot but I'm asking a lot of him in return so I figure it evens out in the end." He said raising his head from his papers.
