1 Chapter One: The Afterlife Wheel of Fortune

Chapter One: The Afterlife Wheel of Fortune.

I had died, I knew that immediately. After all, It was highly unlikely that I had managed to survive being decapitated. How did that happen you may ask, after all despite what certain television shows and movies would have you believe, Decapitation is not something you actually see that often. While I would love to blame being kidnapped by terrorists and beheaded on film, or in some ancient ceremony that some moron had found in a book for the "Dark Arts".

Sadly the entire thing was my fault, You see I was working cutting down a tree with my axe. My new, hardly ever used and incredibly sharp axe, admittedly this is something I should have seen coming. Despite my new axe and my willingness to cut down a massive Cedar tree that had been blocking my view of the local lake and its pristine waters, I had actually never cut down a tree before, in fact up until that very moment, I had never used an axe before. Hence why the axe was new, So when I raised the axe to my head in my pitiful attempt to take a swing at the tree, I was not prepared for actually hitting the tree on the side of the axe. Causing the axe to reverberate with my failure, I somehow missed the fact that such an act had caused the axe to rebound and was now coming back at me.

Straight for my neck, It did not take much force the shiny new axe to slice its way through my neck. As I am sure most of you have guessed by now, this was an incredibly dumb thing to do and as I am sure you have already figured out that even if that had actually happened, it would not be enough to decapitate someone. Yes, That is where the fall came in, Despite the fact that by that point I was pretty much already dead, The weight of the axe as well as my inability to continue to hold my body up caused it to come crashing down ... right onto the axe.

This, in turn, gave the axe the extra force needed to slice right through my neck and detach my head from my body, Luckily by that point in time, I was already dead. Now then the main question you may be asking yourself, or well not the main one, but one of them, is how do I know this? I was dead for several seconds before my head came off. Well, that has to do with where we currently are and what is currently happening. Due to the fact that I was, well, dead, I imagine that I'm in some sort of afterlife, probably Hell.

The all-consuming black void that I assumed was Hell had only two things in the first was what I believed to be my soul, a massive clump of energy that swayed this way and that, even though there was no wind to move it, never remaining the same colour for more than a second. The second thing in the Hell-Void is, in fact, the answer to your question, in front of me was a massive screen that continually showed how I died, including the parts that I had not seen.

There, now you are all caught up to where I am.

It did not take long, thankfully, for the screen to switch off and for something different to eventually pop up near me. In front of me was a blue box, very much like the ones that you would see in the Manga 'The Gamer', Hell it even made that delightful sound you hear whenever you gained a feather in the Assassin's Creed II game.

Randomizing Race: ...

Suddenly, thousands of options appeared and disappeared as the many races of the world whizzed past, It was almost like a slot machine wheel with every race ever created on it. There were too many that flew by me faster than I could read, but I did see many I recognized. Vampire, Kryptonian, Saiyan and more, they all went zooming past at incredible speeds and much like a game wheel, the names started to slow down. Draconian, Human, High Elf all rolled past until it eventually stopped on one name.

Randomized Race: Timelord.

A Timelord, perhaps one of the most well-known television races to ever exist, or at least one of the oldest. Hailing from the planet of Gallifrey from the show of Doctor Who. In the most recent incarnation of the show, the Doctor was the last Timelord. The Timelords were a race of nigh-immortal incredibly intelligent beings, They had two hearts and whenever they neared death they could regenerate, healing all of their wounds at the cost of changing. The Timelords of Gallifrey were so intelligent that they had managed to learn how to time travel, perhaps the only thing that the other races excelled at that the Timelords did not, was combat.

I did not have long to ponder this, If I was right then it meant that I was being reincarnated or at the very least leaving this Hell. It was at that moment that the Blue box disappeared before it reappeared making that beautiful AC: II wind chime effect once more. This time it said.

Randomizing Ability: ...

Ability, I hoped that meant that I would gain some sort of supernatural power or some form of magic, I was thankfully proven right when once more the spinning wheel of fortune took off. Again many of the names passed by quickly but I saw many that I recognized, Rinnegan, The Force, Phoenix Force. I recognized many more this time, so many were familiar to me. All of them were either abilities I had either seen or heard about before, from a varying amount of sources. I saw Wizardry ( Harry Potter ) fly by at the same time that I saw the name Speedforce.

It appeared that whatever deity or devil was keeping me here, was amusing itself by taking certain aspects of universes and trying to mash them together. A Timelord from Doctor Who with power from another fictional world, I'm sure that if it were not happening to me, I would also find it amusing. Eventually, the spinning wheel of destiny slowed down once more before finally stopping on two words. Holy shit.

Randomized Ability: The Gamer.

The Gamer, perhaps one of the most broken powers to ever exist. I mean sure there were others that could destroy universes and others that could make that person a God. But that was it, The Gamer was perhaps the most broken power that I was aware due to the simple fact that you can level. From what I remember of the Manga there existed no level cap. Imagine that, a game in which everyone else has some sort of cap. But due to the unique nature of the power, I was pretty sure that in time eventually, I would reach the level of those who got those heaven-defying abilities. It just required time and with the several thousand-year lifespan of the Timelord, I was sure I could reach that level.

Now then, As much as I was gushing over this insanely broke ability, I simply had one question. Where was I going, judging by the previous two boxes I was almost sure that wherever I was going to completely randomized, which was not ... ideal. I could end up somewhere as peaceful as a romantic movie or somewhere as dark as the DC universe. As if to answer my question the Ability blue box disappeared and a new box appeared in its place, once more making that majestic sound.

Randomizing World: ...

For the third time, the wheel turned. This is it, this would decide my fate, my ability and race were quite nice but if I get a world like The Walking Dead or Highschool DxD, then it won't matter. Despite everything I had gained whatever world awaited me was either what made me or broke me and for some strange reason, I don't believe that I would be given another chance.

The wheel turned and turned, it was taking much longer than the other two, I imagine that it is because there are simply so many worlds that could exist out there. How many fictional universes existed because someone wanted to write a Magic power fantasy or a romantic comedy. Once more as the wheel turned I recognized some names however unlike the last time, the number of names that I recognized was far less, very popular names such as Naruto, Highschool of the Dead and Harry Potter whizzed past me. Thank god, I would not want anything to do with those words, not that I did not like them, it was simply that I did not think that I would survive in them.

At long last the wheel to decide it all started to slow, names flowed past me now at a much slower rate, hell, I even saw the names Doctor Who and The Gamer pass by me. Finally, the wheel stopped turning have settled on a world, the words that greeted my eyes as I stared into the blue box were ...

Randomized World: Life is Strange.

It was a name that I was semi-familiar with, a friend of mine had played it and thought that I should try it out, sadly I had never gotten the time to play it as on that same day, I died. I was aware that it was about a girl, and that she had some sort of Time powers, that's about it. Now that it appeared that I was going there, I honestly wish that I had read up more about it. Sadly it appeared I would be going in blind or nearly blind as I did know a tiny bit about it.

The box once more disappeared, but this time it did not reappear, sadly I would not get to hear that incredible music again. Unless ... was Life is Strange set in the modern world. I think it was, well then, it looks like someone will be replaying a lot of Assassin's Creed II. The black void around me starts to change, becoming brighter and brighter until it was pure white. Then it just started to glow, I swear if I had eyes I would not be able to use them. As I think that my soul starts to become ... sleepy, I think that is the right word but I'm honestly not sure souls can become sleepy. In about a minute I had 'fallen asleep' for lack of a better word and my soul form slowly disappeared from the white void world.
