Chapter 1: Devian

It was dark and silent. I felt numb. My mind was literally blank, I didn't know where or who  I was. All I remembered was the time... seven o'clock. After all, a pocket watch was dangling in front of me, how could I not know the time?

"Hey! Hey! Wake up!" A demanding voice broke into the silence. "Devian, wake up!" Oh... Devian... that must be my name then. "Teo." The voice continued, "grab the other side of him. Oh! Take the watch too. He'll be needing it."

I tried to obey the voice, but my body was was denying my wish. Suddenly, I felt two sets of hands wrap around my chest, then they tugged! I screamed as a searing pain raced from my legs to my head.

"Geez, Teo! I didn't say rip the kid apart!" The first voice yelled, causing more pain in my head. That was when a new voice made its presence known...

"I'm sorry, Parker! I didn't know the kid was so delicate." Ouch! I wondered if they knew I could here them?

I felt Parker and Teo carrying me for a short distance. They paused for a moment, and I could hear one of them fumbling with a set of keys, then I heard a massive door being unlocked.

"OMG!" A girl's voice forced its way into my sore head. "Parker! What did you do to him!?" Wait... what did Parker do?

"Calm down Mackie, it was just an accident. He'll be fine in no time!" That was funny, I didn't think I was going to be fine.

"Get him into the infirmary. Now!"Mackie instructed.

  "Fine." Parker answered.

I felt myself being carried again. This time when we stopped however, I felt myself being guided onto a bed. The pain flared up once I was laid back. I was unaware that I had made a sound, until I heard Parker whisper an apology.

I finally found that I could control a little of my body, and I tried to speak, to thank my rescuers, even though I didn't know them. "Th-thank..." I stopped there, as the pain tore at my side. Before I slipped into the hands of darkness once again, I heard Parker say; "Huh. Don't thank me yet, kid." I didn't have the strength to even think of his warning, as my mind fell into the darkness again.
