1 How it all started

- Aesira's p.o.v.

Life isn't always easy for everyone. People come from different families. Some rich and some poor. It was different for me though. I never knew my real parents. I grew up with a woman who never cared for me. That woman was Clare. She cared for me because of the money that was given to her. Who gave her the money? No one knew. That was a secret Clare kept to herself.

- One night -

I came home from my dance class later than planned and found Clare dead, on the floor. I screamed in shock and horror. Her blood was splattered all over the floor... it stained the rug and was still dripping from Clare's heart. It was a fresh kill. I was terrified. I've never seen anything like this before. Even though Clare never really liked me, she was all the family I had.

I ran out of the house, not caring to take any of my belongings. Who knew? The killers could still be in our house. I had no clue where I was going, but I didn't care where, as long as I was far from my home. I couldn't stop the tears that ran down my face as I ran.

I glanced up and saw a small light blooming around 100 yards away. I didn't even realize that I was running in the forest. I peered up at the sky and saw that it was night. The moon glowed in the sky, illuminating shadows all over.

I looked at the small, bright light and ran. I swear I could hear footsteps following me. The light got closer and closer with every step I ran. I still couldn't believe everything that had happened in the past hour. I just finished my dance class and found my so-called 'mother' dead. Now, I'm sprinting to who knows where with someone following me.

I laughed as I ran. How can I laugh at a time like this? Oh right, maybe because never in a million years did I think this would happen to me.

30 feet and she would be there. My feet were killing me. My black hair wiped all around me. I needed a da*n hair tie.

20 feet. I could barely breathe. I gasped air into my lungs. The footsteps behind me were getting louder. I sprinted the last 10 feet and almost collapsed onto the floor.

The light glowed like the sun. The house was huge - if it even was a house. The building was surrounded by a dark fence with spikes at the top. The building was 3 stories high. On the third floor, there was a massive balcony, in which 2 people were battling each other. Was this some sort of death camp? I was about to turn away when I saw them, I think 2 boys, bow and hug each other.

Training. They must be training, I thought. I turned around but stopped in my tracks.

A handsome young man came out of the shadows. I lowered her head, trying to hide the blush rushing to my face. He was strongly built, with brown hair combed back. "Who are you?" he asked in a deep voice. I shivered, and it wasn't because of the cold.

Get a grip, Aesira.

There was a reason I always wore sunglasses or kept my eyes on the floor. They were unordinary. I never knew how, but my eyes were emerald green, with flecks of bright silver. I liked them and hated them. They were beautiful, but people often got jealous and stopped talking to me.

I'm only 14, and so many people don't like me.

She lifted her head and stared into his eyes. "Holy," he gasped, eyes widening as he took in hers.

I could tell that my eyes were glowing in the moonlight.

I cleared my throat and asked softly,

"Were you the one following me in the forest?" He chuckled.

"No, sweetheart, I was not," he said.

"I can go look if you would like," he added to my surprise. I quickly shook my head.

"No, don't go looking. I-it might be dangerous, and y-you could get hurt," I said nervously. He laughed, a deep laugh that melted me to the floor.

Jesus, there is something wrong with me.

"Sweetheart, do you know where you are right now?" he asked, changing the subject. I shook my head.

"Well, you're at the-"

"Dam*it Jay! You can't just tell people where we are," another guy said coming out of the shadows.

I glanced up and saw a boy with wavy blond hair, bright blue eyes and a handsome face.

Why are both these guys handsome?

"You know how dangerous it would be if people found out what this place is!" the blond guy continued to yell.

"Right, sorry," Jay replied softly.

"It's ok man, just don't ever tell anyone about this place or its location," the blonde guy said harshly. Jay nodded and glanced over at me sheepishly.

"And who might you be?" the blonde guy asked.

"My name is Aesira," I said, then mentally slapped myself. Why in the world would you tell some stranger your name? They both smiled.

"What a beautiful name. My name is Kye, and this is Jax," he said, pointing to the guy I met earlier.

"Hi," I said nervously.

"How did you get here?" Kye asked sternly. I didn't feel comfortable telling them what had just taken place, but I didn't have a choice. I quickly explained to them with little details about what had happened, and they both stared at me with pity in their eyes.

"We can just leave her here," Jay said.

"Well of course not, but we can't just bring in strangers to this place," Kye snapped.

"So what do we do then?" Jay demanded. I stared at the ground, wishing I wasn't here for this conversation.

"Let's just go tell our Master what happened and we will see what he says," Kye replies warily. Jax nods his head and turns to me. I glance up and Jax smiles at me softly. My stomach feels like a million butterflies are fluttering in my stomach and my knees feel like jello.

Why do I feel like this?

Kye starts to walk towards the large house, which causes Jax to start following him. He turns around with a puzzled expression realizing that I wasn't following them.

"Aren't you coming Aesira?" he asked, which caused me to nod. I quickly run to catch up with him and we all walk into the house.
