We Need Change

By: Hannah Frazier Jan. 20, 2015

Most of our veterans joined the force when they were 18 so they never lived in the world like maybe you did and when they get discharged they get retrained in a job and try to rejoin the world way later in life. Many have seen horrors we could never imagine and some of our veterans aren't in good shape. They end up loose their families' and homes; (often even their friends) and they end up homeless and on the streets. Our veterans loose parts of their sanity to keep us safe only to come home and end up on the streets. Yeah, some might be lucky enough to hold on to what they had, but more often then not they end up homeless with no where else to go and no one seems to really be doing anything about it. Yeah sure homeless shelters help but they are so many homeless people and not enough homeless shelters. Cops make homeless people move out from under bridges where it's warmer when it windy or there is snow out because it not safe but then those people get so cold they get frostbite and the hospitals turn them away because they can't have a bunch of homeless people sitting in their waiting rooms they can warm up and they can't treat them without breaking some kind of rule. Many of these people are veterans that lost everything and are now stuck on the streets just trying to stay alive.

HOW COULD WE LET THIS HAPPEN?!!?

AS CITIZENS OF AMERICA!

WE ARE LETTING THE GOOD PEOPLE WHO CHOOSE TO RISK THEIR LIVES FOR US TO END UP LIVING ON THE STREETS AND BEGGING FOR FOOD OR MONEY.

Where does that make ANY logical sense? It certainly doesn't make any sense to me, not even a lit bit and this isn't the only problem that needs fixing think about the foster system or our school system how about the drug outbreaks and suicide rates. I could go on and on about the things that need work right hear in our own country.

We need CHANGE and only WE as citizens can make it happen.
