59 Spatial Transfer Array

There's a special place in the Crimson Star Academy's territory that's heavily guarded by many Spiritualists and falls under strict control and observation all the time - the Spatial Transfer Array.

It's the biggest, the most expensive and the most stable array of that sort in this world.

Many influential people come to use the array for easier transport throughout the Empire, therefore the Academy garners great profit from the array. There's no surprise that its value is very high, hence why it's heavily guarded.

The array not only connects inner subspaces of the academy but also other lesser Spatial Transfer Arrays throughout the Empire. However, this one is by far the most powerful of them all. The reason being that it reaches all the way to the edges of the massive Empire, something which requires an enormous amount of energy. Not to mention the profound laws of space used in establishing its foundations and setting up a stable two-way space tunnels to nearby locations.

But, as it goes, everything in this world comes at a price and this masterpiece is no exception.

Its downside lies in the two-way tunnels only being available to the areas within several hundred kilometers. Outside of that, only a one-way spatial channel is available.

The reason for this is the very space itself - its unstable properties as well as the massive amount of energy required to sustain the tunnel reduce Large-Distance Two-Way spatial tunnels to a mere wish.

An important thing to note is that such a large-scale spatial technology merged with the river of time long ago, which is not a secret. Merely being able to still sustain the array's existence this long shows how powerful the Empire altogether is.

There were many attempts at destroying this array because of others' envy or threat it represented to them. However, after every of those attempts failed, the opposition no longer dared to act mindlessly, and because of that the array continued to exist to this day.

One of the many soldiers present there was just yawning when the space around the array started vibrating and that immediately roused his full attention. He has only one purpose when on duty - to confirm the identity of the ones using the array and, if proves to be necessary, eliminate the threat.

The soldier may look weak, but the reality is nowhere close to that. Only soldiers above 80th Level - the realm of Spiritual Ascension could be guards at the array. His experience and combat readiness was obvious as even before the ones using the array appeared, the venue overflowed with thick Spirit Energy that made the movements of the surroundings slow down quite a lot.

Two blue stars appeared as the very space opened, each in the shape of a vertical eye, and immediately after, two pairs of blue wings appeared from the exit of spatial tunnel. The only difference between the two pairs of wings was their color.

One pair of wings reflected a multi-colored radiance caused by the light falling on them from the nine stars in the sky. Under the sunlight's illumination, the sapphire-blue pair of wings converged and folded behind the young female carrying a little boy with her.

The other pair of wings didn't reflect the light directly but rather absorbed it and converted it into strange star-like luminance contained within the azure-colored crystal scales. Every sharp scale crystal had distinct lines, as if carved out with a high-precision swordsmanship. Every surface of the scale was like a mirror, reflecting the surroundings and the stunned soldier's face.

In the azure-winged female's arms was a girl with pitch-black hair and blood-red eyes. The little girl's long eyelashes gave her a sense of maturity and beauty even though they belonged to a six-years-old girl.

Asura Ryuu focused on the image of the dazed soldier, sending the feedback to Xiao Lan through the master-servant contract, which quickly prompted Xiao Lan to notice the soldier's dazed state as well. Asura Ryuu's thoughts had a much greater influence on her than others because of the contract, hence why it wasn't necessary for him to spend a lot of effort in order to point out the soldier's state.

Frankly said, Asura Ryuu felt annoyed when he saw the stunned look in the soldier's eyes and immediately lost any trace of respect he previously had for this stranger.

The soldier hurriedly recollected his thoughts and confirmed their identities, after which they were allowed to pass.

The reason why Asura Ryuu's impression of this soldier turned slightly unfavorable is because he wasn't able to stay calm in the front of the two beauties. Even if the goddess was to descend, soldiers had to remain calm, not to mention that his position was very important.

Xiao Lan sent the information about the Spatial Transfer Array to Asura Ryuu through her master-servant connection with him, that's why he knew the importance of this place.

However, Asura Ryuu soon found out that many of the males were having similar expressions on their faces as soon as they saw the party of four. He simply couldn't believe that there was not a single decent fella among the people of this academy. If a pair of beauties can cause them to lower their guards, how the hell did academy survive so long?!

One of the common methods of assassination and covert operations included sending the beautiful lady to seduce the opposing army's men and gather intelligence through those ways. At least that's what Asura Ryuu knew from experience of ten lives on Earth. How do these soldiers not know that if the four of them were enemies, the array that was painstakingly sustained for so long could have fallen in a moment? After all, the material it was made of is said to be very fragile.

Sacrificing two kids and two beauties for the destruction of an array that plays a crucial role in case of war is a miniscule loss for the enemies, while the benefits are enormous. The array enabling a large group of soldiers to appear in a blink anywhere within the Empire's borders could have been destroyed just like that. How irresponsible and careless!

How could Asura Ryuu know that his thinking was fundamentally different from the residents of this world?

Having to focus on cultivation all day long, there were not many opportunities for wars and military tactics to develop like on Earth that had no Spirit Energy. Though people here were territorial as well, since cultivation also raised their level of intelligence if done right, there were not many suicidal wars.

However, when wars happened, the topology would definitely change as the losing side disappeared from the history together with its area. Only if the area had something unique to it would it remain unscathed.

The good example of this is the Immortal-Burying Mountain - the place where even the apex existences of this world vanished into thin air after a few minutes of flying in. The area where the Asura twins came to this world.

In this world, only a single high-level Spiritualist was enough to level the massive area to the ground. Was there even a need for tricks and tactics here? When Asura Ryuu reached this point, he decided to temporarily put the matter aside until he acquired more information. He just hoped that the library within the academy was at least decent. However, considering how disappointing the situation a while ago was, he didn't have his hopes up.

As he was pondering and thinking, the four reached a building that was rather large and radiated an unique, majestic aura - the aura only something that lived through generations could have. The entrance boasted with a scene that would be quite breathtaking for residents of Earth.

Beautiful transparent lake with crystal-clear water, myriad lifeforms hidden under its surface. Rich aura of vitality rushed in surges coming from the trees and plants basked under the nine sources of light high in the sky. Every once in a while, a wave of refreshing air would brush past the faces of two kids, causing their pupils to expand like two massive black holes wanting to imprint the scene and feeling deep in their minds.

Noticing them in a daze, Xiao Lan and Lan Yao didn't continue going forward but just stood behind them, waiting for the two to return to normal. They didn't mind doing so because they were not in a rush and also because they had a similar response when they first came here. Even now, when the energy surge comes every year, they would come here to bask in rich air of life.

The white dragon woke up because she felt the same thing as Asura Ryuu - after all, they were now one. The vitality in the air was very beneficial for Asura Ryuu and Asura Tenka, that's why she helped them out by compressing and infusing the surrounding Spirit Energy into the trees and plants which in turn released the rich breath of life.

Although it's not much, it's plenty enough for the two gluttons to not be hungry for a day or two.
