1 The Tempest Clan.

His earliest memories were that of sparks and steel, fire and hammer. Marvin was born from a fallen blacksmithing family, due to this, he was taught "The way of the Hammer" as his grandfather often referred to it as. As a child, he loved to hear stories of how marvellous and powerful his clan was and always took pride in the fact that he was the bloodline as some of those legendary heroes and wished he could grow up and follow in the steps of those heroes; especially his favourite hero; Rowan.

Rowan was the strongest in the history of the Tempest Clan. He wore jet black armor and handled a giant longsword that was said to be the size of Rowan himself. It was even rumoured that it was a senient magic sword that did not allow any other than himself to handle it. Rowan reached his peak at the age of 29 years old and was often referred to as "Raven" due to his larger and dark appearance and brought many treasures to his clan. However, during one of his S-Class quests; he encountered a massive, red dragon and after a long battle, he slayed the beast. In spite of this, Rowan still succumbed as dragons were legendary and they produced deadly attacks. Despite dying due to the wounds inflicted by the dragon, Rowan was hailed as a legend and became another one of the pride and joys of his clan.

It was due to this fact that Marvin always worked so hard at everything he did, despite his relaxed and easy-going nature. By the tender age of 5, he could already craft a fairly decent short-sword and was able to properly use said short-sword in his daily spars with hi grandfather. Despite being 63 years old and having to use some weird goggles that often hung loosely around his ears or his nose as he was partially blind, he moved swiftly and cleanly like how a sparrow ducks and weaves past trees and hits harder than an enraged bull, and that was when he wasn't using magic.

Most people in the Tempest Clan could use magic and were often naturally born with either the fire element or the water element, both of which were useful when it came to creating swords or other weapons. Marvin on the other hand could actually use both, this was quite rare as not all people were compatible with one of their bloodline elements, let alone both of them. Due to this, a lot more opportunities opened up to him, however; he was still not aware of this fact. Due to their fall from grace, his clan didn't have much money anymore and so they couldn't afford the proper equipment to nurture it from birth.

By the age of ten, he had already mastered a few of the blacksmithing techniques and was well on his way to mastering the special sword skill, 'Storm Surge.' It was also around this time that he was starting to get used to using each elements. However using both at the same time is still far from reach.

...

*THUD*

"Is that it Marv?" the old man jokingly teased. "You'll never be able to raise your mana capacity like that!" The one that the old man was talking to was a young boy; from first glance the boy looked no younger than 20 due to his bulky build and rigid jawline. However, he was actually only 14. The youth had dark brown hair and peircing crimson eyes. He was currently laying on his back desperately panting. After catching his breath, he slowly opened his eyes, what he saw made him breathless once again. The sun was high in sky, it had probably only just turned midday, however, because of this, it was brighter than ever. The tree's canopy he was under slightly shook in the breeze, making the leaves seem to shiver. The combination of the sun and the wind made the leaves shine and dance in such a manner that it became mesmerising. The grandfather couldn't help but chuckle, "Rest up, in 2 hours, we're goin' sword training" the old man grunted.

At this his ears perked up. The mention of sword broke his trance and he stared at his grandfather. If there was something he loves more than blacksmithing, it was swords, especially dueling with them against strong opponents. However, before he could get excited any further, a massive wave of exhaustion hit him and he collapsed on the soft grass and fell asleep.

"Well, you can't blame him, that young'un had been training with his mana for the 6 hours, might as well let 'im sleep." The old man mumbled as he looked at his grandchild as a small, prideful smile crept onto his face. The smile went as quickly as it came however, as the old man turned around and walked back to his house to prepare the training that was to come.
