3 Played by Fate

Waking up in an unfamiliar room, Sky tried to remember what happened, but pain assaulted his head. He felt that he doesn't remember anything at all. He looked around the room to see if there's any person near him so he can figure out what's going on.

He saw his best friend Jake sleeping on a chair beside him. He tried to talk but noticed that no voice was coming out. He kept on forcing himself until a very soft voice came out, "ja...."

"Jak..."

"Jake...."

Jake suddenly woke up after hearing his voice. He was so surprised that he stood up right away and went to Sky. He started checking on him if he was really awake. As soon as he was done, Jake started tearing up and said, "Finally Bro, you're awake. You're finally awake. Just relax there for now, I know you have a lot of questions, but I need to call the doctors first."

Sky weakly nodded at him and looked at Jake calling the nurses and doctor outside. He was bewildered as to why he needed to make scene. Jake walked back to him and said, "Just stay put bro, they will be here soon and check on you."

The doctors soon entered the room and started checking and talking to him. A series of checkup was done just to make sure that everything was fine to him.

The whole Miller family also went inside the room. Jake's parents, Joseph and Jessica, expressed their joy as soon as they saw Sky was awake. Jean started crying on the spot.

Sky was astonished to see their reaction of him waking up. He couldn't help but ask, "Uhmm What's going on?"

Uncle Joseph then looked at Jake after he heard Sky, "Son you haven't told him yet?"

"What's going on? Why don't you guys just tell me?"

Jake looked at Sky and wanted to tell him, but he doesn't know where start. He forced himself and said, "So Sky do you remember how we were in Japan trying to do that race against drake's team?"

"I think I do, but somehow I can't remember how the race ended. I only remember the start. What happened?"

"You see, after the race started, you fell of the mountain and crashed your car pretty bad. Your car rolled down the mountain then hit a tree splitting the car in half. Then your car exploded. We thought you died Sky." Jake started tearing up after he remembered the accident. "We seriously thought you died."

Sky was horrified after hearing the story. He couldn't believe he survived the crash. Jake then showed him the pictures of the accident and saw how badly tangled his car was. Sky didn't know what to say. The only thing he could think of is how did it happen.

"How...." Sky asked Jake but he was stopped midway.

"Let me finish bro. After the accident, you were brought to the hospital right away, but..." Jake wanted to finish it but he was scared to know what will happen after it.

Uncle Joseph suddenly spoke up and said, "But you fell in a coma. We had you transferred here back to California because of how far your location is. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it has been three years since the accident Sky."

Sky couldn't believe what's going on. He thought only one night passed. He remembered the dream he had about his father. 'Is that reason to why it is much more detailed compared to before?'

'Wait if its been three years, where's Daisy? How come she's not here? Did something also happen to her?'

"Jake where's Daisy? She must be worried that I've been in a coma for three years now. I need to see her."

Jake and the rest looked at each other. They didn't know how to explain it to him that it was Daisy that caused the accident. That she sabotaged his car.

After remembering the whole ordeal, Jake's anger resurfaced. He then looked at Sky while holding in his anger and said, "Bro, do you still remember what we talked about before the race? The one about Daisy?"

Sky remembered it and was irritated. He thought that Jake will start to argue with him again about Daisy even after the accident. He then spoke with a deep voice, "Jake I told you to stop doubting Daisy. She can never do those things you said. And why are you even bringing this up?! I need to see her now!"

Sky was getting restless and started moving to sit up. Upon seeing him and hearing what he said, Jake was enraged.

"For fucks sake Sky! Listen to me first! You will never see Daisy anymore! Damn it bro, you never listened to me! She's on the run from the authorities now Sky! The reason you got in an accident was because of her! She was never yours!"

"Huh?"

"I've been telling you since the start to not trust her completely but look what happened? You still did and now you're here."

"What? How is this possible?"

"C'mon bro. You need to wake up! She's been working with Drake the whole time!"

Sky was so shocked about the news. He had never thought that Daisy will betray him. All those times that he enjoyed being with her. The happiness that she brought him. The otherworldly smile she has. It all crumpled right away in Sky's memories. He was so heart broken.

He tried to wipe his tears but somehow felt that he can only move his left hand. He tried moving his right hand but there was still no movement. Sky was confused to what's going. He lifted the blanket on top of him and saw the grotesque looking hand he has.

The Miller family tried to stop what he was doing but they were too late. They then let him lift the whole blanket off. They wanted to console him but couldn't find the right words to say. They all saw how Sky broke down even more after seeing that it wasn't just his right hand that was disabled but also his right leg. It was amputated.

They pitied him. Words can't describe the pain that Sky was dealing with. He might not even recover from this. They looked at each other and knew they were all thinking about the same thing.

'Why must fate be cruel to him?'
