1 Volume 1: Chapter 1

Hello!

Thanks for clicking on my novel and giving it a go.

It means a lot to me.

I'll be writing this instead of doing my school work so please make it worthwhile for me!

Dense green rain forests and jungles, barren deserts made of sand and ice as well as massive cities that span further then the eye can see.

That is the country of Tarmak. Tarmak is a middle sized country ruled by a kind and caring King called King Alex the 10th.

The country is open to immigrants and there is very little discrimination between races. It could be described as the most peaceful country in all of the world.

Although Tarmak has many attractive properties to it, it's most alluring feature is it's ancient magic practices.

Many tales and legends have been passed down by each generation of great sorcerers, wizards and magicians.

The mightiest tale of them all would relate to the founding of Tarmak 1,000 years ago by the very first King of the royal bloodline known as the Great Sorcerer John Tarmak who destroyed a parallel universe and earned Tarmak its freedom.

As a reward from the masses, the great sorcerers bloodline was declared royalty and he was made the first king of Tarmak.

Legends appear in every era and have continued to do so since the beginning of recorded history.

In a forest ten days away from the royal capital, there lies a small village called Hatsu. Hatsu is not known for much except for producing some exemplary soldiers in the army.

People pass through the village during summer to rest while they make their way to the royal capital. In this village their is two young boys known as Josh and Liam.

Josh was born with respect as his father is the city lord granting him the title of baron. Because of this, Josh gets most things he wants for free and is allowed free education and has a loving family.

Liam was born with no entitlements as his family are lowly peasants who work in the fields. Unlike Josh, Liam gets nothing for free and must pay for his own education. His family treated him like an outcast as soon as he was born due to him being labelled as an 'accident'.

Of course due to these parallels Liam and Josh wanted nothing to do with each other since they both viewed the other with disgust and malice.

It was inevitable that they would have to meet eventually due to the town not having enough money to afford two schools. This caused conflict between the two boys as they begun to develop a relationship of rivalry.

Of course Josh would never admit that as his pride wouldn't allow it and that goes for Liam as well. By the time both boys turned three, the school opened it's doors to welcome new students and both boys were put in the same class.

The boys learned Arithmetic, English and some basic science. Even though they were only three years old and were encouraged to talk with others their age, neither of them did.

They stuck to themselves and studied, all the while continuing to argue whenever they were paired up for cleaning duty or class work.

They both soon turned 7 years old and begun to develop a more abusive relationship.

"You clean up the desks today commoner, i'm going to return home." Josh said honestly.

"Your not leaving you stupid noble, get back here and clean the desks while I go home." Liam snarled.

"What did you say?!" Josh barked while walking toward Liam with eyes full of prejudice.

"What? you wanna go?" Liam said mockingly while making himself look big .

Within a matter of seconds Josh had neared Liam and was staring into his eyes. Liam was slightly taller then Josh whereas Josh was shorter and bulkier.

'...' It was silent for about thirty seconds before...

"FUCK YOU SHITHOUSE!" Both Josh and Liam roared in unison while glaring at each other.

Josh begun to move forward and swing his right arm into Liam's side. His ribs making a small cracking sound as his fist connected with Liam. Liam gnashed his teeth and recovered instantly. He quickly retaliated with a jab of his left fist into the side of Josh's head.

Josh's eyes rolled back in his head for a moment before he crashed down onto the floor making the floor boards creek slightly. Liam's vision began to blur as he lost consciousness and fell to the floor right next to Josh.

Both boys were unconscious on the floor when a teacher came into the classroom and discovered both of them on the ground. The teacher was their science teacher called Mrs. Loane and the scene in front of her eyes was one discovered once to twice a month.

Loane picked both the boys up and moved them to the small room that was her office and put them on her bed. Loane sleeps in her office due to some problems with her husband at home and is actually Liam's aunt but has yet to tell him.

Liam and Josh respect this teacher the most in the entire school as she is very capable and smart when it comes to teaching science and even gives them life lessons and advice. Both boys respect her as a sort of second mother figure in their lives and don't fight in her presence.

Loane knew it would be at least a day before they woke up and she decided to contact only Josh's family. Everyone in the village knew about Liam's family situation including the city lord due to the fact that he often comes to school beaten to near death and remains silent those days.

Not even Josh picks on him then due to the last time he did. He got some severe trauma from that incident and ended up in bed for a week.

Loane finishes writing a letter in red ink and seals it in an envelope. She makes a small cut on her finger and blood drips onto the letter, burning it into nothing instantly.

About half an hour later a soft knock resounds in the room originating from the door.

"Come in." Loane states routinely. A tall, built man with blonde hair wearing tidy clothes with a sword on his waist enters the room and nods at Loane.

"Thank you again Loane, the stuff you do for my boy is excessive. You can scold him if you want you know?" chuckles the man wholesomely.

"Oh please, we both know the kid isn't going to stop hating my little nephew. It's just always going to be a thing that happens." Said Loane to the man while smiling gently.

"Plus, it's not like I can be seen scolding the city lord's son. I'm a teacher you know!" Joked Loane.

"Hahahaha, your so right! Maybe I should scold him more next time he does this." Said the city lord affectionately.

"Take care of Liam for me okay, all though his family doesn't know it, we are blood relatives" Asked the city lord while scooping up Josh into his arms.

Loane nodded and watched the father and son leave the room before turning to Liam. She got up off her chair and lay down next to him on the bed.

"Stupid nephew, what am I going to do with you?" Asked Loane softly while drifting into sleep.
