19 Alex’s Challenge

The next day was progressing similar as the first. This time all 5 of Tom, Vinny , Sara, Angela and myself had breakfast together before going to class and finding an area to all sit near each other. Class as usual was tedious and boring not covering anything but the basics. 'God I hope this gets more interesting soon' I thought. The bell for lunch rang as I struggled to stay awake. When we went to leave however we were approached by another group with Alex leading the way.

"Hello why don't you three join us for lunch today. There is always room for charming ladies such at yourselfs and an heir to a distinguished family like yours Thomas. So what do you say to leaving the riff raff to socialize with themselves why we dine in elegance." I shit Vinny a look to shut him up before he spoke not wanting to cause a scene in the middle of class. But before I could respond Tom jumped in.

" Though it is a very courteous offer on your part that I'm glad you have extended. It pains me to tell you that we already had made plans to dine together and as I'm sure you know. It is extremely important for someone like myself to honor my word. How about Angela and I have dinner with you later tonight where we can catch up. It's been sometime since I've last got the chance to speak with you Alex and I'm sure there's much you can catch me up on." Alex's eyes narrowed a bit at Tom's words before he put on a genial expression and wished us an enjoyable lunch.

Just when I thought that was the end of it Alex stopped me. "Oh and Lucas right, how about we have a battle today in our next class. I'd love the opportunity to get a battle after what I saw yesterday. I'm sure it will be thrilling and a good experience to both of us." I just nodded and said "Sure why not though it would have to be a 1v1 since my Eevee is recovering I hope that's alright."

Later while sitting and eating lunch. "Why the hell were you guys so polite to the prick. Should've just let me tell him to fuck off and be done with it. Also Luke you better kick his ass in the battle later I'd love to see his smug face after losing to someone he views as lesser." Vinny exclaimed.

"Though I hate to say this I agree with the foul mouthed shrimp. Tom and I have known Alex a long time since all our families have a business connection. I can say with confidence that he is an egotistical creep who enjoys making others feel inferior to him." Angela added.

"Who the hell are you calling a shrimp you blue headed bitch. Why are you even here only one the likes you is Tom why don't you go hangout with some other stuck up girls and go talk about make up or some shit." Vinny replied. This lead to am the all to quickly becoming usual scene of the two trading insults back and forth. I really should break it up but it's so entertaining and I don't know where Vinny comes up with half the shit he says. He has a gift for trash talking.

Eventually Tom and Sara break it up. With Tom calming down Angela and Sara calming down Vinny. 'I sorta feel like a 5th wheel between 2 couple here when did that happen' I thought. Tom however broke me from my thought when he said " Honestly Luke you might want to decline that battle I know your a good trainer but from what you told me your Mankey will be far out leveled, and unless it has an ability like Eevee you won't stand a chance. His family is probably one of the wealthiest in Kanto and I know for certain he has at least one blue rank Pokemon. He got a Growlithe a year early by paying some people off and claiming it as a pet/ bodyguard. He bragged all about it when he got it. So I know he's had almost 2 years along with all the money to buy it the best possible food and items for its training."

"Your probably right but he doesn't seem the type to let things go easily so why not battle him if he wins maybe he'll lay off us a bit and if I win that will cause him to hesitate messing with me in the future. Seems like a win win, plus I get to battle one of the strongest students in our grade I'm sure Tsun will love hearing that when I tell her later. Besides I'm not someone who like to run away and hide and prefer the direst approach when dealing with things." I reasoned back. To which Tom could only sigh and Angela got up from the table in a huff to storm off. Tom quickly following after while apologizing and saying he'll calm her down.

Vinny seemed to like my idea and gave me a pat on the back.while Sara seemed worried by what Tom said. "I know your a better trainer than me just off of yesterday but please be careful. I don't like the feeling I get from that guy so don't be afraid to forfeit the battle before things get out of hand. Promise me that ok I don't want to see anything bad happen to your Pokemon." Sara asked pleadingly. "Sure" I said back with a smile trying to reassure her. 'She's right unlike Tom I don't put it past him trying to put me in my place by injuring my Pokemon I should also explain that to Tsun before the battle so she can understand.' I thought before leaving for the next class with my friends.

When we arrive back in the training facility I ask Vinny and Sara if I can have a minute alone so I can explain everything to Tsun. I understand and agree and both wish me luck. When I let her out of the ball she seems excited since I already promised her las night that I would battle with her today. Since she was still upset about not getting a chance to fight. When I started explaining who we would be fighting and how strong they are she seemed to get even happier as she hopped around snorting with her eyes closed in an eye smile. (Picture) though she seemed less amused when I told her we may need to forfeit. She stubbornly kept refusing. I tried to reason with her saying I didn't want her to get hurt like Eevee and that Alex may try to deliberately hurt her in the battle. She just asked " why I didn't trust her to win" with a sad face. I was at a loss for words before I a told her I do trust her that I believe she will one day be the strongest pokemon and that she'll help me become the strongest trainer ever. "That's why I can never give up" is what she said back to that. I smiled and replied. " then let's go win"

After having my heart to heart with Tsun who was now clinging happily to me sitting on my back. Alex came up and asked me if I was ready. I looked at Tsun one more time and nodded my head before following him to an open arena. There was a very large crowd around it as everyone wanted to watch our battle. Partly due to my showing bs Tom yesterday and in part becuase of how Alex dominated all 3 of his battles yesterday. Once we got into our positions we both sent out our pokemon with Tsun hopping of my shoulder to take her place and Alex sending out his growlithe.

( I know first blue Pokemon already makes it seem common type but they aren't Alex just has a very wealthy family and was able to use that wealth to get such a premium Pokemon but his others aren't blue as well. Also just want to say that he is well over leveled vs the average student where the average lvl is closer to 5 .)
