Chapter One Hundred & Forty-Six: Discovery

"Power is the ability to use your energy base to perform tasks and how fast you can do it. It is being able to do something in a particular way." Fern explained. "While magic is the power expelled from you. Power is being able to control the energy given to you."

Velma nodded slowly, trying to make sense of what Fern was saying. "And gift?"

"Gift is a little more complicated and I am not sure I know how to explain it well enough," she smiled sadly. "It is more like an already activated energy base. You do not need power for it."

"I am... Confused."

"For example, you touch a sick person without the intent of healing but the person feels fine. That is a gift."

"Is it possible not to be able to use gifts sometimes?" Asked Velma thinking about her encounter with Evgenikós. "For example you have done it the first time and wonder how, so you try again but this time you are thinking of how to do it."
