1 Chapter 1: The beginning

It all started tonight, the town has been preparing for the ultimate battle. The battle of the night. On this day many great men go into battle, a battle they've been training for years for, a battle like no other. Across these years there have been smaller battles too, battles against ogres, cyclops and dragons. But tonight, tonight is a whole different night. For tonight instead of fighting the small dragons and other monsters they are fighting for their survival. My name is Thomas, everyone calls me Tom, and this is the night where my life completely changed for better or for worse. I, for your information, am 16 years of age. I didn't train like the others because I am not yet of age to start battling monsters. But they were short on men so they cane to the villages and started taking boys who were 8 years and over. I was one one of the hundred boys taken into battle.

"Get them legs up higher boy"

"Sorry sir"

Then he tuned to me and with a barking command yelled

"What do you thing you're looking at kid focus on the target not my face!"

"Sorry sir" I whispered out.

Did i dislike him? Yes I hated him. It was his fault kids were drafted for battle. This was no place for any of us. Then again I suppose someone has to fight the battles. Ok ok I know you still don't know what this battle is about. Well it's the night where the strongest dragon comes out and challenges us. But it's not just one this time round, tonight the entire dragon army, ogre army, witches and warlocks, cyclops, everything. Tonight is a battle for our survival. Yes. Magic does exist. No not everyone can use it, only those who went 'magic school for the gifted' have magic. You only went there if you showed signs of potential and if you passed the program then and only then were you able to use the magic. For those of you asking no I am not one of those people I am just a young boy who had no friends and is not in the slightest bit interesting to be around. I have such an average life. That was until tonight.
