Prologue [Edited]

The moment Keisler turned 5, he began seeing status screens in front of whatever he focuses on may it be an object or a person. Because of his young age, he didn't understand what the figures in the screen meant and when he mentions it to his parents they only treated it as random mumblings of a child. Even though they didn't believe it, they still felt responsible enough to tell him not to tell anyone about what he sees because they didn't want their son to be seen as crazy.

Keisler is an obedient kid so he listened and did what his parents asked him to. Keisler is also a very curious kid and he wants to learn what the status screens that is appearing in front of him is saying. He asked his parents how to read and learned how to in 2 months, which made his parents proud because in their world, kids only learn how to read when they're 7 or 8 years old. Unfortunately, no matter how smart they think their son is, they don't have enough money to send him to a school for his age.

Schools for kids in the world of Komu is rare and usually only for the rich people. A college on the other hand, only requires a teenager to have talent or money to get enrolled into.

Once Keisler learned how to read, he tried focusing his vision on his parents and status screens popped out once again, but this time he can finally understand the figures on it.

Keisler was a bit confused and didn't understand what the words in the screen meant so he asked his parents what level, affinity and talent meant and what he understood from them is:

Level: the strength of a person.

Affinity: determines what type of beast a person can contract. The more in line the beast is with your affinity, the better their growth will be.

When he learned of it, he became excited because he realized that he can see what beasts his parents can contract with and told them what his status screen said. When his parents heard what he said, they were shocked because they knew what their affinity was but they only became aware of it because they paid a high price to appraise it, they aren't even aware that people can have a talent.

They frantically told him to never tell anyone about his ability because it might endanger his life, which he understood and followed. A moment later though, they dragged Keisler to a mirror and told him to focus on his reflection to know if he can know about his own talent too.
