Elemental Affinity!

Ren collapsed on the ground after the workout, Hayate sensei was following the same routine as him but he didn't say anything at all till now, he just came back from wherever he went and joined in his routine.
"Take deep breaths and rest," Hayate sensei spoke, "We need to modify your training routine, your morning training routine is fine but let's control it to two hours and decrease the training intensity by just a little bit for the next week. After the morning conditioning, both of us would go to the mission center and take a D-Rank mission. It would give you some time to rest and then we would have another training session focused on relearning your bad habits when it comes to taijutsu."
"Understood, Hayate Sensei," Ren nodded, he didn't have any problems with the routine the only problem that he had was how was he supposed to do the mission after the morning workout.
"Is there anything else you are working on and need time to practice," Hayate sensei asked.
"Yeah I normally go to the library after lunch to focus on fuinjutsu, plus now that I am a registered genin I could get access to the D and C rank jutsus from the library so I want to check them out too," Ren replied, he had completed all the formalities and he should be able to get access to the library starting today once they got the list of new genin.
"Alright, then I have a task for you, when you go to the library I want you to search through every jutsu you can find and select one offensive, one defensive, and one support jutsu to learn." Hayate sensei instructed.
Ren nodded so Hayate continued on creating the training plan, "Anything else you want to learn?"
"Chakra control," Ren replied almost immediately, he had become sick and tired of seeing half of his precious chakra go to waste just because he was not able to find any suitable exercise to further refine his control.
'Plus now that I have the perk [Greater Chakra Control], it should be a lot easier to master the new exercise.'
Ren gained 4 new perks after completing the Rookie of the Year quest, each of the perks corresponded to a fundamental area of the Shinobi arts, and although the advantage isn't huge right now, in a few years the accumulated advantages should snowball, and become a core part of his fighting style.
"Chakra control huh, I know you know the tree walking exercise, and after I test your mastery of it, I'll teach you the next set of exercises," Hayate replied easily allowing chakra control to be a part of the training schedule.
"Alright this should be enough, now from tomorrow we will take a mission, today I'll teach you something different. Are you ready?" Hayate sensei asked.
Ren nodded and stood up, Hayate sensei nodded at his fast recovery rate but still cautioned, "Deactivate your seals and focus on learning the katas." Hayate sensei instructed and Ren followed his commands and deactivated the resistance seals completely.
"Alright, now I'll show you the katas of the Illusion Fist so focus," Hayate sensei spoke before he let his hands hang limply by his side and started hopping a little bit.
"Let your body relax and remember before your first attack your hands should always be by your side if you are going to attack first and on guard if you are going to defend and counterattack," Hayate showed the correct guard posture to Ren.
"Always remember the goal of illusion fist is to deceive your opponents by your rhythm and attack when they least expect it. In the starting posture for any attack, your hands are limply by your side because we want your opponent to see and react to your telegraphed attack, and for that to happen the more time your punches travel the better it is and the faster you are the less time they would have to realize the telegraphed attack is a feint..." Hayate sensei spoke as he began demonstrating the correct way to punch, Ren could see the rigidness of his posture was just a disguise for the jab that he was preparing.
For the next hour, Hayate taught Ren all the standard katas of both the Illusion fist and Strong fist. His main goal was to disguise his intent by making the opponent think he was using the Strong Fist which is well known for its fast, strong, and rigid attacks.
After learning all the katas Ren started practicing the movements by himself and Hayate sensei went away to do something. It took another hour for Ren to gain basic proficiency in Strong Fist and the blue blocks seemed to agree with him as a notification block appeared in front of him.

'Wow, this is totally in a different league than the academy taijutsu style.' Ren happily practiced the Strong fist for another half an hour and watched as his proficiency increased by 5% which was more than he was expecting. He took a little break and looked through his complete status once again.

Ren arrived at the Genin library after verifying his identity at the front desk, he was cleared to only go to the ground floor and 1st floor, and since he had scoured almost all of the ground floor he skipped to the 1st floor. There were 2 chunin who were standing on guard in front of the library and although they weren't particularly strong, Ren was pretty sure that at least a high chunin or a tokubetsu jōnin should be guarding the second floor where the B rank jutsus were stored.
'Still, this should be enough to keep me occupied till the next chunin exams.' Ren looked at the 6 sections of the library, 5 of these sections contained the jutsus for the 5 elements while the sixth section had more utility and auxiliary jutsus.
'I need to find some way to find out my chakra affinity before selecting jutsus, there should be some book here that should tell me a way to find out exactly what my affinity is.'
Ren walked toward the 6th section and started searching through the books. There were several books on Fuinjutsu that seemed interesting but he stopped himself from pulling them out for now. After a few minutes of searching, he found a book on elemental theory that he took out and started to read.

Ren spent almost 20 minutes reading through the entire book, when he finished reading the book he received a notification indicating that he gained 1 point in INT. Feeling happy upon picking up an unexpected gain he walked out of the library and started searching the Konoha weapons shop for chakra paper. He didn't have to search for long as he found it in the first shop, though his good mood quickly evaporated once he looked at the price on just one strip of paper.
'What the fuck, why does such a small piece of paper costs 20,000 Ryo...' Ren was speechless upon enquiring about chakra paper and he made a hasty retreat from the shop. Deciding to further investigate this matter he found out that almost all shops were selling chakra paper at the same price and even the discount he had being a genin was not valid for the purchase of chakra paper.
'Is it really so rare,' Ren sighed and decided to buy the chakra paper, knowing his own strength was a major part of his training regime, and while he could cheese it by comparing the speed at which he learned the jutsus of different elements without using a skill scroll given by his weird power, it was better to spend some money as this was something he needed to know to not waste time.
Ren bought the strip of chakra paper and rushed out of the shop back to the library, while it would have been good to go back to the training ground for a little more privacy, he would then have to run all the way back to the library to search for the jutsus. Ren still hesitated and decided to duck into an alleyway on the way to the library.
'This is as good a place as any, it should take me a second anyway...' Ren pulled out the chakra paper from his inventory and channeled chakra through it. The Chakra paper suddenly split into two even sections, Ren waited for a bit to see if there were any other reactions but the chakra paper remained motionless. Ren was about to channel more chakra into the paper but the sudden notification made him discard those plans, he threw the two strips into his inventory and focused on the new notification.

What do you think about the perks though, I hope they don't appear to OP, I may need to tweak them a little just in case...
